Be that as it may, the overlapping issues will have been involved sooner or later. This thread is substanticially ripe for that, considering.

Whether or not that will have been the case, more than not don't agree with this thread on it's principle. No one has actually said it should be closed, however, or that carrying out your idea anyway, regardless of what has been said, is an option you don't have.

First of all, I see what you mean, now that it HAS become "ripe" for that.

And second, it technically wasn't my idea, but I did support it. Being that I have wondered why I didn't ever remember seeing this type of thing discussed before, I was simply curious what people thought of it. And if what you say is the case, then let whatever happens happen.

Well I misunderstood what you meant by ripe then. I meant that it has physically manifested itself, as opposed to just having the potential to.

And I didn't think anyone was (well actually, just you, since we are the only ones posting here now 😛). I was just saying it because it's in my nature to try and clarify things as best as I can, though I fail to do that sometimes.

And notice that now this thread has switched to discussing the act of discussing the issue (or something like that). :laughing:

Hungarian (my poor confused foreigner)...Prodigy was an online service (much like AOL) that had it's heyday back in the early to mid 90s. I remember when there were no chat rooms, no access to websites, etc. I remember before it was even a Windows application. DOS, anyone? It was glorious though. My first internet home back when I was a wee little nessie.
And how can you have been here this long without knowing what "my two centes" means? Basicaly it means "that's what I think" or "that's my humble opinion".

Hmm...well, in this case in means these posts. Notice how one spam leads to 4 more tailored after the first, thus, in less than 10 minutes, it has become a spam thread.

Now, either she has given up on this idea and has abandoned it to spam, you guys are waiting for her to make her decisions, so figure spam is fine, or you somehow think this is what she meant by an awards thing.

If it is and this is what she wanted, then by all means, go ahead and do it. All it means then is that this is just another spam thread and Ness's, Valerie's and my concerns were unfounded.

If this is all you meant the thing to be, was people running in and out, claiming their own little award and theres no voting or anything structured like that, then that should have been alot more clear from the beginning.

I was lead to believe there would be either voting or some kind of decision making process. But if this is all there is to it, then there was no need for any of us to say anything.

You guys started listing possible titles and awards and this and that, so I thought you were in the process of deciding which ones would stick and which ones wouldn't. It looked like you were seriously planning something.

And brainstorming is something you only do when you are somewhat serious about it.

If all of a sudden you're changing that setup at the drop of a dime, then I think its fair to say your intentions with this thing are ambiguous in her absense.

You either want just another spam thread with a choice title to seperate it from the other spam threads, or you really did intend for this to be some sort of a formal acknowledgement (albeit silly) for the members of this forum.

The truth is that things change as the times pass. Yeah, I think Helen did put alot of thought into it. And I think that at this point, this thread has already been spammed enough that it would be easier to just make another thread entirely if she wanted to continue it, and I know that's what she'd want to do.

But overall, LOOSEN...UP! If you spend all your time worrying about stuff like you are, then you're never gonna be able to really enjoy yourself here. Unless that IS your definition of enjoyment, and if it is, then I feel bad for you.

Now...someone tell me I ain't the biggest smartass here. 😛

If I am wrong in my assumption forget I said anything because I know that when I assume, I make an ASS of U and ME.

And I think that certain spam threads, not all, make for great conversation...even sometimes evolving to intelligent conversation status.

Actually, I never said I was against it. I said I was against what happens because of things like this.

You shouldn't assume. So....you've made an ass of ONLY yourself, if you choose to want to take responsibility for making that comment, which you seem more than willing to.

To answer your question, I think my questioning whats going to happen with this thread now after what we were talking about is a very valid question and isn't anything near deserving of being called an interogation.

I am just curious. Just because I'm not jumping into this sudden spam until I get an answer doesn't mean I'm a stick in the mud or whatever you people think. It means I'm being considerate and thoughtful to the possibility that this idea is salvagable to her.
