I saw all of the other NEST threads, but I couldn't figure out which one to post to... So I made my own. Hope nobody minds. 😛
This weekend was one of the greatest experiences that I've ever had. In all my life, I have never become friends so quickly with so many people, nor met so many people at once that I have long liked, respected, and admired. NEST just has this amazing vibe to it... It's almost like a family reunion or something. From meeting everyone on Friday, to poker every night in good 'ol room 225, to the NEST main event on Sunday, and so many awesome moments in between. There was not one waking moment of NEST weekend that saw me having less than an absolute blast.
Unfortunately, the old saying is true: Time really does fly when you're having fun. It didn't really hit me that it was all over until I was crammed into my little window seat for the flight back to Phoenix. I'm not really an expressive or emotional sort of person, (believe it or not 😛 ) but I swear that I damn near cried right there on the airplane.
There are a bunch of folks that I'd like to say a few words to, so (against my better judgment) I am going to attempt to make a list. I already know that I'm going to forget someone, so PLEASE don't take offense. 🙂 I'm also intentionally omitting a couple of people, either because I only know them by their real name, or because they expressly mentioned a desire for privacy.
And so, in alphabetical order...
Affectionate Dan: It's been... What? Six years or so since the last time I saw you? You made me feel welcome at the first gathering I ever went to, and now all these years later you did the same at my first NEST. It was really, really good to see you again!
Ann and Drew (the Tklduo): It was truly awesome to get to meet both of you. I've always admired both of you for all of the efforts you make to bring our little community closer together, and you're both every bit as nice in person as you seem online. Also, major thanks to Ann for being one of the driving forces behind this year's event. It was a WONDERFUL time.
Amnesiac: Dude, I have been wanting to meet you for YEARS. After hearing Pawzy's stories from GLAT, and talking to you online and on the phone... Lets just say you were exactly what I expected. You were easily one of the most exuberant, zany, hyper 'lers at NEST (which is saying a LOT) and yet you also came across as a highly intelligent, well-read, and well-mannered guy. Hopefully next time we meet up we'll get to chat more... Preferably over the body of a nice, ticklish lady. 😉
Alyson: For someone who wasn't even a member of the TMF, it took you all of about 5 minutes to jump in and become the life of the party. You're an amazing person, and it was a true pleasure getting to know you over the weekend. I'm glad to see that you've decided to join our little online community here (and I also have to congratulate you on your very original screenname 😛 ) and I hope that you'll be hanging around with us for a long, long time to come. 🙂
Apacer: It was awesome hanging out with you all weekend, even if you did kick my ass at poker... 😛
Avenger: Dude, you rock. Seriously. ...And not just for bringing Alyson. 😛 It was fun hanging with you, and great to finally get to put a face to a name that I've seen so many times. Also, just so everyone knows: Avenger does NOT Google-search during trivia.
Ayla: I still remember video chatting with you years and years ago. It was really cool to finally meet you, and to get to see you and Dan together... Y'all go together like chocolate and peanut butter.
Azrael: I cannot BELIEVE that you still have that awful sandwich tucked away somewhere. Just the thought of it... Oh jeez... Uh-oh... BRB, gotta call uncle Ralph on the big white phone.
Seriously, though, it was awesome to finally meet you in person.
Bella: I really have only one thing to say: "OMG I MET BELLA!!!" 😀
BordmanV: Thanks for hanging out during the weekend, and at the airport on Monday, too. Next year I'm going to follow your example, and bring a few secret weapons of my own.
Chaneda: Man, you managed to turn room 225 into the NEST Bondage and Poker Palace, and thereby provided us NEST noobs with an awesome place to hang out and socialize. NICE work! Hope we can do it all again next year!
DVNC: Dang, bro... We only got to talk for a grand total of maybe three minutes all weekend! Nonetheless, it was good seeing you again, and I'm sure that we'll get to hang out again in the not-too-distant future, if ya know what I mean.
Italian Touch: One of my friends used the word "pucker" in a sentence earlier today, and I couldn't stop laughing. It was great meeting you, and hopefully we'll get to do it all again next year.
Ivory Tickler: Nice to meet you! Thanks for hanging out all weekend and playing poker, and also thanks for the impromptu tour of downtown Philly. I now know more about a certain bell than most historians. 😛
Jane: It was great meeting you over the weekend, and poking (no pun intended 😛 ) around Downtown on Monday. Hope to see you again next year!
James Bond: Had I not known, I never would have guessed that this was your first NEST. You helped a LOT of the new folks to get acquainted and have an awesome time... 🙂
Jonmath and Kittentoes: For a while now, I've heard stories from attendees of NEST's past... Stories of an exceptionally well-dressed, classy gentleman ambling about the event hand in hand with a awe-inspiring vision of feminine beauty on his arm. To my amazement, those stories were all true! It was an honor to meet both of you, however briefly... And I must say that your demonstration Sunday night was truly spectacular to behold.
Kwildoctr and Lite: OMG you two! I have been waiting for years and years to meet both of you! 😀 Its really amazing to meet someone face to face for the first time, and yet have that feeling like you've known each other for years... Oh, and yes; Lite really is not at all ticklish and no fun. 😛
LeeAllure: You may have a reputation as a cruel and merciless tickler, (and I literally heard a few lee-minded guys say that they were AFRAID to do a scene with you
) but it would be tough to imagine a more caring, giving person. You really went all-out to make this year's event a success, and you have my heartfelt thanks.
Max Speer: I've got to hand it to you, man... You altered HISTORY by starting this event. Hope to see you again next year, and the next, and the next, and the... Well, you get the idea.
Minerva: I know that we never formally met or anything, but I still have a confession to make: I just about melted into a little puddle any time I heard you speak. You have just about the most beautiful voice and accent that I've ever heard... I could honestly spend an hour or two just listening to you read aloud from the phone book.
MTP Jeff: It was a real treat to get to meet one of the founding fathers of the TMF. 😀
NG02: It would be tough to imagine a cooler guy... Keep in touch, man, and I'll see you next year. And congrats on converting that girl you were talking to during poker!
Questions: Now I know why there wasn't a God of Poker in any of the pantheons of old - It was because Questions wasn't born yet. Thanks for hanging out and playing poker with us, and also thank you for trying to warn me about the impending wrath of that god-forsaken cheesesteak.
Snail Shell: I don't post in the art forums very often, but I lurk there all the time... Consequently, I've been a fan of your work for quite a while. It was really cool to get to meet you, and it was awesome to see some of your art in person.
TickleChicago: Thank you SO much for picking up the tab at brunch on Monday. I've probably seen your name a million times, ever since the old AMT days... It was great to get to meet you. 🙂
TicklishGiggle: Thank you for letting me win at arm-wrestling... I know that a mighty Chicagoean giantess such as yourself could have snapped my arm like a bratwurst, and I am glad that you elected to show mercy upon little 'ol me. Seriously, though, it was exceedingly cool to meet you. From the moment that we sort of locked eyes and nodded at each other in the lobby (and threw up a gang sign or two... Represent!) we got along like a couple of friends who have been around each other for ages.
TicklesHotel: The other half of the Arizona contingent. 🙂 We didn't get to hang out a whole lot, but I loved your massage demonstration. 😀
TickleJen: Are you still alive over there? 😛 I don't think I saw you once where you weren't either tickling someone or trying to get someone to tickle you. You brought an amazing energy with you wherever you went, and it was great to get to know (and tickle 😉 ) you.
Venray: Man, meeting you was like meeting a living legend. You've made so many posts over the years that made me either think or laugh out loud, that it was like I almost knew you already. Many thanks to you and Venraya for your fine work in putting this year's shindig together! 🙂
*sigh* I guess this means that it's all over... Is it too early to start the countdown to next year's NEST? 😛
