Vermilion Crescent RELEASED (free illustrated fantasy novella)

Pardon the minor 'bump', but as a little update:

Due to the takedown of Megaupload (and the fact that TT's attachments are currently broken), currently the only spot to download VC is via this thread here at the TMF. In the possible event that someone is reading this thread that desires to read the novella yet doesn't have an account here (and hence can't view attachments), just for now, I'm willing to email the novella directly if people desire a look at it.

(as an aside, the MU and TT situation is why I have not shown another textless full-size image in this thread for awhile)

Hi Khali, if it is possible I would like the chance to read your novella please 🙂 I did try to download it from this link by the megaupload but I was to late could you please point me in the right direction to where I can download this novella on here because I can't seem to find it ^^; really sorry if this cause's some trouble! but many thanks!! 😀

Uticklish2:
Thank you. ^^

Tickle_prince:
It's no problem. Since you have an account already, you should be able to download the pdf itself via the very first post in this thread. There are two attachments (shown as 'images') in the first post, the first one is the novella pdf, the second is the cover art. Click and save the first one.

In the event it still doesn't work, I'm willing to pass it along by email.

OMG! I checked this out before I realize --- this is indeed a solid contribution. The title is in itself of impact! Congratulations to the priceless effort and labor of love indulged in delivering this topnotch piece. :headbang:

Bohemianne:
*smiles* We're very glad you enjoyed the novella so much. ^^ We put a lot into it and are happy people are liking the results so far. Thank you very much for the compliment!

Tickle_prince:
No problem. Hope you enjoy it. ^^

As an aside, Will and I are very interested to hear feedback on VC (replies, messages etc) for things to look for in future projects like this. Things liked or disliked with the story or art or characters...we're listening. 🙂

Time for another full-size, textless color pic from 'Vermilion Crescent'.

This one followed one of the teaser images from before the novella was released. Still bound and at Vermilion's mercy, the servant girl Shenseia deals with an internal struggle of her own as the bounty hunter tries to...convince the poor girl to give her service of a more information-al (and informal) manner. Straddling Shenseia closely, Vermilion perches like a wild animal as she plays with several vulnerable spots of the servant maiden's tan skin. But is it truly threatening...or enjoyable?

Once again, exquisite colors on my original lineart were done by the talented Will Georges.

This is easily one of the coolest gestures/projects in the history of this forum.

The attention to detail is astounding. Highly professional and polished. I hope this encourages people to buy more e-comics and artwork. VC is more entertaining than most video clips being produced today. Then again I would find a dancing squirrel more entertaining than most of the clips being produced these days; but, nonetheless, fantastic work!

Method11236:
Wow, thank you very much for the generous compliment! ^^

VC was a labor of love for us, and we put a lot into it to try and make it as 'professional' as possible (as you put it), both into the artwork (with Will's delightful coloring) and into the story itself. We hope it made a delightful gift to the community, we did want to give something back to all the readers/writers/artists/hell, everyone...and of course, make something that we hope people enjoy in general. 🙂

Thank you again, it means a lot to us to hear what people thought of VC.

I cant download it theres an FBI warning grrrrrr ! Someone help

Bekah:
Sorry about that, I should've removed the now-destroyed Megaupload link in the initial post.

The pdf itself can be downloaded from the first post of this thread, it should be the first of the two attachments you see there (the second is just the cover art). If for some reason even attachments aren't working, I will fall back on email if needed, but you should be able to download the attachment pdf w/out problems.

This is absolutely stunning! I can't wait to finish it, I just had to come and chime in on the torrent of compliments on this book. I'm so surprised you offered this amazing project for free! Fantastic work, great job to ALL of you! This is definitely a team effort, I can tell, and it really paid off. Great great great work!

I'm also curious how you made your banner? I love the pixely style and the motion - did you use a specific program? I'm eager to try it out, myself!!! 🙂

I finally got a chance to start reading it. I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. But I'm only a short ways in, so there's much more to be seen. You're not only a great artist, but you write well too.

I can answer that question, actually, as I was the one responsible for the banner. The feet motion was traced from actual footage (pun not intended), split into individual frames, painted in Photoshop, and cut out. These, along with other cut out pieces from Khali's coloured art, were imported into Flash, where I did the rest of the animation. The final frames for the banner were exported from Flash as a png sequence, and I used Photoshop's animation tools to build the animated gif (Flash's gif export is crud). So yeah, a lot of steps, good for an afternoon of work. 🙂

Thank you for the kind comments! Happy to hear you enjoyed it! 🙂

Darkharp:
As Will himself answered the question about the banner, I'll just thank you very much for the nice words on the novella. We were trying to make something 'professional' but as a gift to the community, hence why we poured so much into it. ^^

I hope you enjoy the rest of the tale, it gets better as it goes on. 😉

Larcen:
Take your time as well, there's plenty to read through. ^^

Wowzers!!! I'm no good at flash, but I do know a bit about Photoshop's animation. It would be fun to try out something similar, but I doubt it would turn out quite so nice! Great work <3

So I see!!! Fabulous.. Just fabulous <3
You're awesome, thank you so much for doing that for the community. What a great project - it will be talked about for years I just know it!

Flash isn't that hard to master if you know the basics of animation. 🙂

Oh, in case you haven't gotten there yet, the climax of the story is very, very intense! 😉

And to echo what Khali said; it was indeed our idea to create the best thing possible and give it away to the audience. Personally I don't believe "professional" is necessarily synonymous with "commercial". One only has to look at the wealth of great web-comics out there that are out there, all free to watch. I must say, I've drawn much inspiration from this concept.

Although this one is non-tickling, it's techincally a new/unseen artwork of Vermilion and I figure I may as well add it to the thread for your enjoyment. This one was NOT in the novella itself. ^^

...

You really ought to be scared of the shadows, even if what emerges is more tempting than terrifying.

I really wanted to put together a very moody, very coldly 'threatening' image of Vermilion...where all semblance of pleasantry is just about gone beyond her tantalizing looks. Perhaps you are her target and she's just stepped from the shadows. I'd warn you not to stare back at those cold green eyes...you may not be able to look away.

...

Unless you're starting elsewhere, pervert. 😉

I should point out that Ver there is leaning forward quite a bit, as if she's just starting to LUNGE, in case you're not off-balance yet. ^^

As always, lineart/design by myself and very fitting (and scary) colorwork by my good friend Will Georges.

Here's yet another bit of full-size, textless artwork from my illustrated novella, 'Vermilion Crescent'. Non tickling but I think the view might at least be...asking for it. 😉

This one comes from early in the story, where Vermilion quite skillfully defends herself from a pair of bandits from the infamous 'Dusk Blades'. Apparently the duo thought she was an easy target lost in the woods, some wanna-be adventurer who had to pay for inexperience.

They were wrong. 😉

A little work with her mannerisms, body and a few flashes of her blades and legs later and Vermiliion is left with one thug running off in fear and the other stomped safely under her sole, ready to be brought to the authorities for a sizable bounty.

That is, AFTER she's had her fun...which isn't so bad for the fallen Dusk Blade himself either. His expression soon changed after Ver suggested something...dealing with his position...

As always, I did the linework/design here, and my talented friend Will Georges was responsible for the excellent colors and very cool background in this one. ^^

People have fallen asleep, haven't they. Such a shame, such gorgeous work on my creative partner's part , such inspiring material to add colour to.

Here's something to wake you all up. My very own tribute to the fiery seductress that is Vermilion. Enjoy!

Astonishingly beautiful work on display from both you fine artists! Fiery and dynamic, Vermillion Crescent is a commanding personality! My fondest congrats to you, Khali and WillGeorges; your combined excellence has obviously brought out the best in each individual style!

Low_Roads:
Thank you very much from both of us, and we hope you'll find the story and artwork a nice combination of both our styles. ^^

...

Time for another 'clean' image, this one of pure tickling. 🙂

A full-size textless version of one of the images from what I call 'act 3' of 'Vermilion Crescent'...the act where all the true fun happens...

Hence...

Sorry, but you'll have to go and READ the novella to learn about what is happening here. What are those little serpentine creatures and how have they reduced the fiery bounty hunter to a writhing yet laughing form on the cave floor? Does Vermilion enjoy the (ticklish?) company of these slithery younglings as she spouts laughter? You'll have to go read VC to find out what exactly is going on. 😉

AND...let me bring your attention back to the first post of this thread in the case you haven't read VC yet. We've recently found another outside source host via mediafire in case you're unable to download the novella from this thread. Check the updated first post for the new outside link.

Thanks for the large, clean image. It's wonderful! 😀

Been awhile...

Tossing up another pair of images from the novella in their full, text-less versions for people's enjoyment. I figure I might as well bunch these two together as they're both quite twisted tickling pictures. 😉

However, as they come from 'act 3' of the story...I'm not going to full describe them. You'll have to read the novella itself (check the first post of the thread) if you want the full tale.

Anyway...

Pic 1 has foot tickling...or at least, that's all you can SEE. 😉 Vermilion is apparently 'stuck'...or being slurped into something, and little hands are tickling the hell out of her wiggling mostly-bare feet as they are all that remains in the outside air. Of course, there's also more going on that you can't see to the rest of her...

Pic 2 is all-over tickling. The huntress is apparently bound up now in a gooey, dark chamber...possibly 'inside' whatever you saw in the previous pic. And there's a hell of a load of tentacles, tendrils and little creatures ravaging her struggling form with tickles and sensations all over her body. The thing is...is this maddening torment actually being ENJOYED by the wild woman?

You'll have to read to find out. 😉

Again, drawn by myself, colors by Will Georges.

I would get to reading this a little quicker, but I'm distracted by your banner. Goddamn that's the best banner I've ever seen!

Damm. I thought I was the only one who liked the banner. Best banner I've seen on any message board.
