I find it hard to believe north carolina has that low of an IQ comparable to other states
Its all BS. I mean how many people do you know have taken an IQ test? A real one. And then to allow some organization to take your IQ number for a sample?
And then, take all the IQ's of the population (or just a certain area..hint hint) and then take it as "The Word" for the entire state.
You can find stupid people in any state and of course in larger states you have more stupid people.
And of course there are certain areas of the state where the science is, and notice how most of the "low IQ, Bush Voting" states are primarily areas where the majority of our nations FOOD IS GROWN! A farmer sure is not going to pass an IQ test with a higher score than a lawyer. Does not mean the lawyer is smarter by any means. Inteligence is relative with your lifestyle. But I am sure those eggheads forgot to factor in the curve from those kinds of things.
I think believing that IQ chart proves anything means by that chart you should live in Mississippi.

I could, but it would end up being a thesis lengthed post and taking way too long to explain. You know I live in Georgia where the average IQ is 92. Only the simpletons would understand. Not them thar smart people up north. No maam. Wait.....hold onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn, oops sorry my finger got stuck on the "n" key and I couldn't get it off until I remembered just to lift it.
Sheesh....boy do I feel silly. But with everyone else having a 92 IQ around here I guess I fit in. WOOHOO!!! Wait is that one word or two? WOOHOO or WOO HOO? Oh, perhaps someone from a smarter state can tell me that and who to vote for next time.

Hey, don't knock down on socialism! It's thanks to social democracy that we have free healthcare and free college education over here. Oh and you don't have to live in fear of ending up on the street if you become unemployed and fail to instantly get a new job.
That said, the Democrats are anything but socialist, and people should just stop suggesting that they are.
As for the chart. Hehe, there are three types of lies in this world: White lies, regular lies, and statistics. 😉 I know several republicans who are anything but stupid, so even if this study is true I don't think it proves much. Political affiliation has just as much to do with upbringing, tolerance/intolerance, and, at least in the US, religion.
Are you stating Mississippi is a state for stupids?

Interestingly enough, if you group the numbers into a histogram, it appears that most of the country is within about five points around the average which looks to be about 98. So the country as a whole generally isn’t spread by that much.
But overall it seems to be biased by academia more than anything else. The top IQ states also have the top universities. All that brain power is concentrated by top students from around the world who then graduate and move on, and may be partly responsible for the skew. Thus the IQ of the average resident in those areas may not be any higher than the national average.
Would it surprise anyone to find out that most of the tests in the North East were administered in the vicinity of Yale, Harvard, & Princeton, and the study done in conjunction with Yale itself to guarantee CT sits on top? 🙄
