did this affect you at all? Not for me, even though my family are Italian immigrants. Oh, well except it made the drive home VERY nice for once! :jester:

XOXO

Well, most of us ignore the Mexicans around here, unless their legal. And the legal ones went to work. There was a protest in Knoxville, but few paid attention.

Well, some of my classes yesterday were practically empty

I didnt notice the walk out and I live in NY! lol! Everywhere I went today people were working and there was traffic as always!

There was a large rally downtown at Union Square Park yesterday, but I noticed no changes anywhere in my neighborhood. All stores were open and doing business.

The only economic damage was to Hispanic businesses which had to shut down for the day. Nobody showed up for work.

Coming up is an 'as-yet-undefined' backlash which will negate any percieved political gains.

Ok, so, next ??

I live in California. Specifically around the LA/Riverside area where, I've been lead to believe the bulk (or at least some of the largest) of these protests and walkouts transpired in this state.

Even I can say that I was not affected at all or even saw or noticed any activity anywhere. I'm not saying the protests were pointless, but they had minimal or reduced effects, and though they may not realize it, the illegals and their supporters didn't get the results they were hoping for.

Based on what I've seen and heard, they have failed. I don't know whether to be happy, indifferent, or sad for them. LOL

I'm not sure if you're refering to me or not sweetie. 🙂

If you are, I wouldn't disagree with what you're saying. There are alot of illegals in Texas too.

Traffic on the streets was light, and most of the missing automobile traffic was the un-insured illegals who were out protesting the lousy deal they got by sneaking under the fence into the United States.

I say let's have May Day protests 365 days a year. It was rather pleasant.

You know me fairly well enough to know I wouldn't just "jump all over you". Unless of course you're implying I should or might. 😉 :jester:

Anyways, yeah. It's pretty amazing (not in a good way). The more territory they cover, the more greedy people and businesses there are that will exploit and shelter them, thus expanding the problem and creating networks and ensuring illegals have a reason to continue being illegal.

The employer is just as much the problem and to blame. They are the bait which makes entering America illegally so attractive.

Yes, Cali got the worst of it (I think) Our hispanic pop here is HUGE, not as big as in Sou Cal, but then again, I think the walkout was for everyone, even tho Hispanic population got the most attention for it...

XOXO

Geeze, where are the cops when you need them?

If illegals are all going to protest, why not round them up and ship them out?! They should be fairly easy to spot... they'll be the ones carrying picket signs and shouting protests in foreign languages.

California Senators supported the walkout with their slimey lips but didn't give up their $153 daily per diem.

translation: this cheap lie might get me a vote, just don't touch my wallet.

😉 :justlips: LOL

Personally, I believe that if the people who are here illegally have a problem with the country I defended, round them up. They are a risk to my country. On top of their illegality, our border to the South can be used to bring in terrorists. I have mexican friends and several of them are in agreement with me. Most of my views came from a first generation man that his parents were born in Mexico and he was a Marine.
