feel compeeled to always pointe that out. I like to use this as practice to improve mi typpping speed. Don`t reeley care if I accidently mispell awurd or 2. Are some people reeley that anal ????

The funniest thing is seeing somwon correcting a person for mispellling a worde and then not spelling it correctlee themslveees

I Always type perfectly....honest...

Bah...who am I kidding, but ya cant judge a guy on his ability to type. Some people just aint very tolerant. 🙂

i cannot spell worth crap so i am always misspelling stuff

*looks at Original Post, eyes slowly bleed* I hate you... Someone needs to create a strict law that all spelling must be correct or corrected within 3 minutes, or else it's off to jail with the criminal scum.

My spelling isn't too bad, and I've read some truly atrocious spelling on the internet over the years. But for the most part, if I can understand what is meant, that's good enough for me.

It's stupid, but I'm really anal-retentive when it comes to the english language. I fight the urge to correct people, I really, and have even considered seeing Dr. Phil about this....

To quote the snooty waiter from Ferris Beuller: "I weep for the future."

But I digress:rotate:

I've found that many people when left with no argument will fall back on pointing out grammar and spelling. When somebody does that, it's a clear sign of desperation.

On the other hand, there are those who seem to glorify illiteracy with deliberate misspelling. I don't know, I guess they think it's cool. Thankfully that annoying little fad is finally subsiding.

I dont bother pointing out people's grammatical errors unless I'm just joking around with them or looking for a reason to give them shit 🙂 There are some words I can't spell to save my life, especially since I took so much Spanish, because they don't have double-letters (except ll and rr) so double letters really fuck me up now 🙂

People are going to misspell words..it happens. The only time it annoys me is when people KNOW they're misspelling and just don't care enough to even make it figure-out-able LOL To me that's just laziness.

The important thing, as with any communication, is to get the message across.

In RL I often make up words purely cause I dont know a better way of saying what I wanna say, tis my understanding that an intelligent person will recognise the intent and see that I wish only to deliver my thoughts rather than "disgrace the dictionary" Afterall, who really has the final word on what is and what isnt a real word? I am human with as much right to do so as any, if people understand what I am saying than I have completed my task and communicated successfully which of corse is the overall goal, true intellect walks hand in hand with tolerance.

same with typing, just cause I may accidently fail at the "ing" on the end of a word and type "ign" instead, tis still pretty obvious what its supposed to say, I cant spell most long words perfectly cause I never practiced..didnt really see why it was so important. dosnt mean I iz a dum arse, Just mean I prioritize things differently, i.e communication over perfect grammer. 😛

Am I the only one who uses complete sentences and proper grammar like colons and comas even in text messages? I think I am because it drives my friends nuts....on second thought, maybe that's why I do it.

I guess I'm kinda in the same boat w/The Sean Man when it comes to this. I don't want to come across as being uppity , but what's wrong w/knowing how to spell the words of the language that you speak? More to the point ... shouldn't you know how to spell the words of the language that you speak? ( for the most part , anyway ... obviously , not knowing how to correctly spell pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis shouldn't be held against anybody. )

Of course mistakes in spelling & typing are going to be made ... nobody's perfect ... but sometimes it's just embarrassing to read how some people write ( spelling-wise ).

... & let me point out , it's not so much the misspelling , but the misuse of words that I guess you can say "bothers" me.

Remember , people ... 'you're' is a contraction for 'you are'. Your is a possessive pronoun showing ownership of something. They are not interchangeable.

Same thing w/'there' , 'their' , & 'they're' ... they all mean different things.

Try & learn you some correct Englishes.

Mistakes are acceptable ... ignorance is not an excuse. 😛

I misspell when I type, and the older I get the more frequently it seems to happen. But where I screw up the most often is with homonyms. I use 'are' instead of 'our,' 'hear' instead of 'here,' etc. And of course there, their, and they're.

I know the differences and when to use each one, but when I'm typing, I guess I'm concentrating more on my ideas than the grammar and the mistakes don't catch my eye until I proof read, and in some cases not even then.

If I ever misspell a word or use improper grammar I WANT YOU TO CORRECT me. I will thank you for it.

And if I do it too often, I want you to strip off all my clothes, tie me up and tickle me until I promise never to do it again.

LOL

So ... what? Should we expect to see some ridiculously misspelled posts from you from now on , Sleepy Jean?

The only time ill ever jump on someone for bad grammer is when it gets so bad that i can no longer understand them. other than that i think the little stuff is because people just like feeling like there better or what not.

Unintentionally i will drop words in a sentence, but more often my spelling/grammatical errors are intentional. I'm not exactly sure why i'm so hung up on not sounding like a total brain, yet no matter how often i try i still tend to talk over peoples' heads from time to time. My typing best emulates my pattern of speech. As for other people, bleh, you speak as you are. As i'm sure it's got to be apparent, i don't much mind someone whose spelling and grammar are a bit lacking. As for goth not being a good speller, hehehe.. i learned gothese real fast, now THAT should be a firefox plugin.
