For me it all begins mentally lol. If I'm mentally stimulated with the ideas of being tickled prior to it actually physically happening then usually its all over for me lol.

I don't know quite how to explain it, but some lers - not all - but some, have this change. Like, one second he's playfully bantering back and forth and we're joking around and it's very casual and low-key and you're really just not expecting anything to come of it, and then something happens and his entire demeanor changes and you know that shit is about to go down. Not tomorrow. Not in a couple of hours. But right now. And in that moment all of the shit talking and ferocious just ceases to exist and every nerve ending in your body comes to life, and for a split second you just want to RUN as fast and as far as humanly possible. Glorious. Rare and glorious.

For me, it's the intention to tickle. It's that look from a girl, that slightly raised eyebrow as she drags fingertips across my stomach, that suddenly makes my ticklishness increase greatly!
