Okay I work in a supermarket as a Checker and Cashier. I do work weekends, sometimes I'll work on just a Saturday, Sunday or both. I know that some of you don't work on weekends but I do. I have to give at least two weeks notice at my work to tell them that I can't be there during NEST. I mean I don't want to tell them the details of what NEST is or that it has to do with tickling. I'm thinking I should tell them that I am going to a social event. Does anyone have a better idea? Please, I need some good advice here. Thanks in advance.

Well GirlWhoLikes2Laugh definitely don't tell or share the details about NEST LOL sorry could not help it. But seriously what might help is that you definitely put your request to take this time off-that weekend way in advance definitely before the 2 weeks and definitely don't wait last minute, for this kind of thing maybe bit sooner than 2 weeks or like 3 or month in advance a good thing-just make sure even if you give like a month or so advance warning that u keep updated about this time off-once again repeating the time requested off-week before also. Don't tell them about NEST, just tell them you were be out of town and you need that time off. They don't need to know your personal business, that is stuff you do off the clock, and if you get that time off you request-that is none of their business.

Request it in written form and write down you will be of town and need this time off, don't need to be specific, just say it is a important prior event out of town that you need that time off for. Most definitely like I said before don't tell them you need the time off for a tickle gathering, that is too much information-not necessary and really they don't need and don't want to hear this. LOL. The less the better.

Like I said might be helpful written request for this time -that weekend off or if you can see if you can switch alternate weekends with a coworker if you need to, like if you get that time off, you work that other next alternate weekend if that would work if it turns out your boss won't give you this time off, but probably will work-u are gonna be out of town and not near by so sure it will work, remember do this least 2 weeks ahead and like I said a month ahead notice asap not a bad idea. Hope that this helps. :twohugs::twohugs::twohugs::twohugs::twohugs:
you will see most employers are pretty understandable and reasonable and will work with you-after all every one needs a little bit of time off, just be glad you don't work in a hospital or nursing home, not impossible to get that time off but a lot harder.

Hmmm that is a good one Mammers09 the only problem and downfall of that , what if later the boss and coworkers would want to see pics? LOL:milestone: cute idea though, out of town, out of state wedding, interesting. Oh PS LOVE Your new Sig Pic, you are gonna have many guys and lots of people wanting to tickle you bad, you are a sweetie, love to meet you someday and love for us to become good friends HUGS really hope you keep that new sig pic it is sooo you

Well she has the right to say no to that ... lol
=====================================
What you mean she has a right to say no to that lol? confused love both of your sig pics. love your sig pic mammers and also girlwholikes2laugh
Oh my gosh I think I get what you are saying now mammers oh you mean girllikes2laugh has the right to say no, if they ask to see pics u mean? lol
Granted girllikes2laugh has the right and the choice to refuse showing pics of wedding, but wouldn't that look kind of strange-go to a wedding suppose to and no pics lol sorry just saying. that might look bit strange don't ya say lol Good point though

A reunion is what I have used in the past...and that is what it is...

That is a great reason to use too, a reunion out of town and out of state that is awesome venray love that answer too:bunny:

I agree. A reunion is good. Maybe say a family reunion, or a family function, such as a special birthday for a close relative, or even a wedding.

Just some thoughts.

Mitch

I said I had to go to court. I'm nothing if not random.

Yes...I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding the weekend of NEST. My dress is pink 😛. Seriously, just tell them you are going to reunion, they don't need to know the details it's none of their business.

Yes that is right as long as you give plenty of notice 2 weeks or more notice, request it on written form and give it to them in plenty of time, not their business what the reason is that you are going to be taking that time off, be general and vague, not specific, less is better hope this helps, like tklee88 said none of their business, of course don't tell them none of their business lol but u get the idea.

You shouldn't have to give a reason at all. What you choose to do with your time is NONE of their business. Just request the days off. If they press for info, tell them it's for "personal reasons" without any further detail.

The last time I went out of town I said I was invited to a cousin's wedding..if they asked for photos I would say I didn't take any but I doubt anyone would ask for wedding photos because that is something personal for family and friends. If anyone of them were my "friends" they would know the truth of me lying about the wedding anyway..not necessarily about nest though.

I'm not planning on giving any reason. I travel a lot as it is, so no one would really think twice if I said I'm going to Philadelphia for the weekend. If they ask for why, I'd say to visit some friends, which is true. Most people won't push past that usually.

I told my family I'm going to a music education conference. Not really much of a stretch, there was one around this time last year too.

One reason that I came up with with sasaxrah (which I am proud of personally) is a wedding that is going to be on the opposite side of the country. Due to final dress fittings and X person buying the plane tickets, you need to leave on X date. This excuse can easily buy you 4 days 🙂

Or you could just say "I am going to a fetish gathering, wanna come?"

Since 1999 my clients have known that I have a "reunion of old friends" in Philly every year, it's written in stone and it's never ever questioned; I close on Friday and my awesome husband runs my preschool for me on NEST Monday every year :trippyrainbow:

I agree with Ticklebunny. I would only add that I would offer to take over a weekend for another co-worker in the near future,or else offer to make up the time in the near future. Also, I agree that you should give your notice as soon as possible........like today........so your bosses will have plenty of time to adjust schedules. I also agree with the others that the specific reason for the time off is not something they need to know. A reunion, or a wedding, is reason enough. A special good luck from me that you can work this out soon.

I plan on going in 2010, and if need be, I plan on saying it's for a family gathering. Technically, that's not a lie as I consider this place to be my second family. Of course, there's always the Nelson Munce excuse from The Simpsons fame. "I'm goin' away for a week(end). See ya!" Kidding. Just kidding. I'd never try that with an employer. 😀

My work wouldn't bat an eyelid as long as I gave decent notice and no one I know is one of my 'real' friends so they wouldn't know if I was talking out of my arse.

How I'd explain my abscence to my friends is another matter though. 'Working Away' is a reasonable excuse during the week but might not hold up for a weekend event.

Still, I'll cross that bridge in a couple of years when I get my act together and actually go to one of these things.
