Who came out with an amazing song only to not be able to follow up on it`s own success and eventually fade into the background of ''one hit wonder''

the most obvious one for me would be

Dexy`s Midnight Runners with '' C`mon Eileen''..... this is still one of my all-time favorite songs !

A-Ha, with "Take On Me"

Though Dexy's Runners are a close second.

Also the Proclaimers "500 Miles"

True--by Spandeau Ballet.

One of the greatest songs ever in my book.

Rob

This one goes back all the way to 1970:

Crabby Appleton - "Go Back"

And here's one from 1971:

Lee Michaels - "Do You Know What I Mean"

Green Eyed Lady-Sugarloaf

Brandy-The Looking Glass

"You get what you give" -- The New Radicals

"Wake up, kids... We've got the dreamer's disease..." 🙂

Funny you should be the one to start the thread, FlockOfSeagulls...

I Ran (So Far Away) - A Flock of Seagulls 😛

Are You Gonna Be My Girl? - Jet

Tubthumping - Chumbawumba

Thems 3 of mine (not sure if Jet's a one-hit, but that's the only song of theirs I know...not that that necessarily means much).

Fly At Night, by the group Chilliwack. Check it out on youtube, excellent music. The group had so much potential, but faded away quickly after that album.😡

For the record, I think Chilliwack did have another hit, Bill.

Remember "My Girl (Gone Gone Gone)" ? I loved that song.

Some good ones so far.

My Entries:

"Driver's Seat" - Sniff 'n the Tears
"Betty Davis Eyes" - Kim Carnes
"Turning Japanese" - The Vapors
"I'm Alive" - Flyleaf
"Jenny 867-5309" - Tommy Tutone

Even though I Ran was by far thr Flock`s biggest hit , they were by far not one hit wonders

Other songs that hit the top 40 in the U.S. or in Europe are

''Space Age Love Song ''

'' Telecommunication ''

''The More You Live the More You Love ''

''Wishing ''

just to name a few

Also A-Ha actually hit #36 in the U.S. with '' the Sun Always Shines on TV ''

They have also sold over 40, 000,000 records world wide

My all time 1 hit wonder song that I love is Baby Got Back, love that song.

I guess Chilliwack had more than a few hits

Which song was it??? I must be getting old.😱 Thats the only hit I remember from them.

Wikipedia sez: "Chilliwack are a Canadian rock band that had their heyday during the 1970s and 1980s. They are perhaps best remembered for their three biggest songs "My Girl (Gone Gone Gone)", "I Believe" and "Whatcha Gonna Do."

Hit singles in Canada included "Lonesome Mary", "Crazy Talk" and "Fly at Night".

The singles "My Girl (Gone, Gone, Gone)" (1981), "I Believe" (1982), and "Whatcha Gonna Do (When I'm Gone)" (1982) were popular both in Canada and in the U.S.
