QB is a nickname from my involvement in racing. I'm a race official for cars and motorcycles. I run Race Control for the Motorcycle races at a big road racing track in Northern California. Stands for Queen Bitch (but I'm nice really I am) It has nothing to do with Football.
During a practice day before a pro-motorcycle race I had 250's on course and a pro-rider on a 600 wanted to go out on track. I won't mix classes - too dangerous. I stopped him in the pit lane, told him he had to leave and refused to let him go on course. He kept insisting. I kept saying...No, you can't go on course, NO I won't mix classes, No I don't care that you want more practice you've been out at least 6 times already. After lots of 4 letter words hurled at me he left only to return at the far end of the pit lane. He started up the lane, coming up through the gears and planned on blowing by me but I blocked his way. He'd either stop or take out my knees. When he stopped I gave him a piece of my mind and demanded a meeting with his team manager to discuss whether I'd allow him race that weekend as I have the power to throw him out. On the sidelines were my son, ex-hubby, and several other racing friends who were ready to tear him apart. He finally left.
Following the meeting with the rider and the manager I returned to our camping area. My workers were standing in front of something. They parted and there stood a chair with a sign... Reserved for Jan - Queen Bitch - Just say No.
The Queen Bitch stuck. Now when I go to the track I'm called Queenie or QB or Your Majesty. For those of you who don't know me I'm not the Bitch at all which makes that name even more fun. But if you get me riled... Look out. It's not a pretty sight!
Oh... I also got a lovely bouquet of flowers delivered to Race Control the next morning by the rider just before his qualifying session.
