This thread asks members what the most exciting event they have ever been to in their whole lives is. Please think of one event in your life that was most exciting, and post it here. Thanks.
I'll start: For me, the most exciting event I have ever been to personally was Game 7 of the 1986 World Series when the Mets beat the Red Sox. While most of us who are baseball fans recall the heartstopping Game 6 and its incredible ending, to actually be in the ballpark on the night the World Series was won is a thrill. While I have always been a Braves fan, I was actually rooting for the Mets to win the Series in 1986 because back then the Braves sucked, and were in last place, so I rooted for my hometown team, as I lived in NY (Actually Westport, Ct, but close to New York, back then) I will never forget the last out, Mets relief ace Jesse Orosco striking out Marty Barrett, Boston's 2nd baseman on a high outside fastball. At that moment, I was thrilled, and the next time I remember feeling such excitement was on an October night 9 years later in 1995 when my own beloved Braves won their World Series.
So, that's my event, Game 7 1986 World Series.

Ok, I'll play...

For me, singing the "Star-Spangled Banner" on opening day for the reds in 1989 with the May Festival. Walking on astroturf and going onto the field was very memorable.

That, or any Caeasarean section where I walk away with live pups (and so far, I have 100% survival rate). Nothing like being there for the moment of life. So scratch C-section, any live birth is good 🙂 I've seen kittens, puppies, foals, calves, kids, lambs, and piglets born. Takes my breath away every time.

Wow, Des, you sang the Star Spangled Banner! Very Cool! My friend and I used to sing at coffee house and other events in college. The Star Spangled Banner is my favorite patriotic song, and one I know every single word of the song to, by heart, because I've heard it so much at baseball games over the years! I would love to be able to sing it at a baseball game. You lucky girl, you! I'm jealous!😀 LOL!

The most exciting event I ever attended was the second Lollapalooza tour in 1992. It was still a completely raw alternative concert, non-commercial and artistic and full of bands you'd never have seen in one place prior to that. This was one of the best collection of bands I've ever seen in one place, including Pearl Jam (who used to really rock) the Red Hot Chilli Peppers (see previous note), Stone Temple Pilots, Ice Cube, Rage Against the Machine, Cyprus Hill, and Ministry (who played an incredibly disturbing sequence of images in the background while they performed and ended up storming off the stage when the crowd went crazy and started tearing up the turf from the outdoor seating and throwing chunks of it at each other and finally the band itself.)I think for some reason Porno for Pyros wasn't there on that leg of the tour, or else I just completely don't remember them for some reason *cough*

Also on that tour was the "Jim Rose Sadism and Masochism Circus Sideshow," which totally blew my mind. They had people eating, drinking, and doing the most appalling things you can possibly imagine. I remember at the opening of the act the announcer Jim Rose said "It's hot out today, and what we're about to show you is seriously disturbing. People WILL faint, and when they do just raise your hands and point at them and the EMT's stationed around the crowd will come in and get them." One act had a guy shoving needles through just about every part of his body, and when he finally stuck one sideways through his eyeball hands went shooting up all through the crowd like they were doing the Wave. (I don't know if it was real or not but I think people can do that without harm because of the elasticity of your eye or something.) Another guy used a stomach pump to suck all the bile out of his stomach, then he mixed it with a bunch of random crap like ketchup and milk, and then he and a member of the audience drank it!

I went to the next 3 or 4 of those, but every year as the lineup got better (because more, and more famous, bands could be enticed to play) everything became more commercial for the same reason, and progressively less fun.

for me the most exciting things i've attended were my best friend's wedding and the birth of her and her hubby's first child...the other was my first (and probably last if the prices of tickets keep going up) buffalo bills game.

I always have to have two! LOL!

1) First Weird Al concert I ever attended. In Pittsburgh at the rib festival. I drug my wife on a lark. Ended up right by the stage for the encore and got back stage to shake his hand! I got my picutre taken and the entire band's autograph at another concert too!

2) Billy Joel-Elton John, the first tour. We took a limo to the show. Sat in the second section on the floor of old Three Rivers Stadium. Quite frankly one of the best shows I've ever been to! Although ANY Billy Joel concert is a good one to me!

wow my brother would be sooo jealous, he loves weird al's stuff...has a few of his cd's and some bits that he got from a filesharing thing from when he was in college.

Hmmmmm.....Don't know if I can pick just one.

Most exciting as far as overall energy and enjoyment... Last years YES concert at Mohican Sun. It's the best concert I've ever seen/heard ANYONE play. And, I get to enjoy it whenever I want since we were able to find a DVD of it.

Most exciting spiritually... My first pilgrimage, where there were hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world and everyone was there for the same reason. No need to speak the same language or anything like that. It was as if everyone knew one another no matter where they were from. Talk about living as one!

Most exciting emotionally... The day I successfully resuscitated a woman whose case I'd been covering for the day. She was trying to hide the fact that she was having a heart attack when I was about to leave. Since she was in a home for seniors, I unlocked the door on my way out, went to the desk to have them call it in and then went back to her apartment. By the time I got back (all of 2 min.) she was down and in full arrest. I had her back just as the medics arrived. She passed away a few weeks later. But, she'd had the opportunity to say good-bye to a son she hadn't spoken with in ages. I knew that ws something she wanted since we'd talked a lot earlier in the day. So, I'm happy about that.

Of course, there's also my wedding day! As great as other things have been, that was extra special.

I was at the 2000 Super Bowl when the Rams beat the Titans.

Ooooh, good question! I don't think I've ever seen it asked here before!

1st

The moment I laid eyes on my son after he was born. It was a big moment because two hours earlier, they were doubting either of us were going to live. I think I cried for a month non-stop. 😛

2nd

I got it yesterday~!!! As a few people here know, I'm adopting, just waiting to be "matched." Well, the call came yesterday afternoon out of the blue after more than 6 months waiting! I should get more information today!

3rd My first RUSH concert and meeting BB King. Both happened the same day!

I love Billy Joel. I saw the piano men duo the second time around - we lucked into getting "box" seats - glass enclosed room at the top of Riverfront Coliseum (or whatever they're calling it nowadays). It totally rocked 🙂

When I went to Wrestlemania 20 last year, when I saw LisaRaye in person, and when I went to Utah in 1998 to witness what should have been Michael Jordan's last shot to win the title😀

Thanks, guys, and girls, for all the responses. I appreciate it. This thread is turning out good so far. I thought it an interesting subject, and Jeff, I really appreciate your contribution.
While my most exciting event was the Game 7 of the 1986 World Series, I feel I must bring up two other events that were like 1-A on my list. The two Mike Tyson heavyweight fights I went to in Atlantic City with my father in 1988. At that time, he was a big gambler, so we were able to get ringside seats. The first one was the night before my 18th birthday, Jan 22 1988, against Larry Holmes. The fight ended with a Tyson 4th round Knockout of Holmes, but wasnt as close as that really, as Mr Tyson spent the better part of the four rounds kicking the stuffing out of the much older Holmes.
The second fight was even more interesting. That same year, five days after I graduated High School, on June 27, 1988, I went to another Tyson fight with my father. That one was even more weird, because it lasted only 91 seconds. We sat down, ordered our drinks, and the waitress never got around to bringing them, Challenger Mike Spinks was knocked down by Tyson, got up, went down a second time, and the fight was over! We walked out of the Atlantic City Convention Center laughing our heads off at how ridiculously short the fight had been, and couldnt figure out what to do with ourselves, as my mom was gambling, and we had expected to be there an hour or two. What we ended up doing, even though we had already had dinner, was to go to a second hotel which knew who my father was, and get into a second gormuet dinner which killed the better part of two hours! That was by far the one of the greatest, and weirdest nights of my life.
So, that is events number 1-A for me. If the 7th game of the 86 WS was the top one, those two Tyson fights in Atlantic City in 1988 came in a very close second.

the sight of the stanley cup presented to the devils in 1994.

i may have cried.

Being at a karoake bar hanging out with friends , I put myself in to sing a few of my favorites which is "spill the wine " by War . My friends about 5 people were astonished of how I hit every last note, they were in for a bigger shock later....Getting a great reception from the people in the bar also singing I put myself in for another of my fave songs "the rose " by bette mitler..As I sang,I could see those around me listening singing along, some wiping tears away from their faces as it touched them somewhere deep inside..I will never forget that moment when of the observers listening took a rose that was garnish on the table and handed it to me as I finished up my song....Needless to say..my presence to this day is being requested to come back to sing but "sigh" I have moved recently so now the bar is quite a ways for me to drive ..

Can't think of the most exciting event I've ever been to, but here's a lil' shindig happening Saturday night here in town that I really wish I could attend. 🙁

When We..

Accidently ended up in the middle of a Soviet Navy wargame, and they were using live ammo. Things got quite lively for a time, and I got to read a Groo comic during the affair.

Making it to the bathroom after holding it in for over five hours! Aaaah, the pause that refreshes.

Seriously, both a Paul McCartney & Wings concert in 1976 and Elton John's concert of 1975, each forever etched upon my memory banks!

As I've mentioned on here, my father was business manager for the rock group "Kiss" from 1973 to 1980. One time when I was perhaps five or six, I remember going to a Kiss concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City with my parents. I know I went more than once, but this one stands out. We were sitting in the first row, so our ears were blown away from the loud sound, as people who know Kiss know how loud they are. At this concert, "exciting" things happened, although I'm not exactly sure that the people they happened to thought so. My mom got hit in the back of the head with a bottle, and, a few rows away, to our shock and horror, a woman who was a client of my father's, and contact of the band's manager, had her brand new fur coat catch on fire, after a concertgoer threw fire, which was a common occurence at those concerts, which happened to catch the material of her fur coat. It was all too wild, and scary.
So that's another event which may be deemed exciting by some, except for my mom and the poor woman whose fur got ruined by the fire that was thrown at it.

-My first concert (my parents were not keen on my music) - 1988. GnR opened for Iron Maiden - and Axl Rose jumped off the stage to start a fight with a guy in the front row. We had tix for 9th row, rushed the stage to end on 2nd row, stage right.
-My first tattoo, 1990 - not my best one, but it stared the addiction.
-Going to Banff, AB, on a Monday night to see the Headstones. Moshed with Hugh Dillon, then was honoured to interview him after the show. Got home at 3:30am, class at 8.
-Wared Tour 2000.
Sadly, no tickling experiences to share. There is one grl on here I wish to meet, but distances (and lack of communication) not allowing it to be.
That's my Canadian nickel for my nightmare.
