What is Verification/ What does that blue "verified" title mean?

Being verified means that a person has either

1) been to a Tickling Gathering and/or been verified by me or someone I know and trust, or
2) done a 30 second video chat with me.

We have a pretty active social scene here, and a problem that has arisen from that is people creating fake accounts. There are a few reasons why this seems to happen -

1) People want to pretend to be a sexy person so someone will talk with them about tickling. We have a recurring incidence of profiles popping up and instantly being filled with hot pictures.

This is a particular target of the Verification system, because if someone is willing to post a bunch of pictures of themselves, there's really no reason for them to be unverified. And we suspect that many of these are actually the same small handful of people - Verification will make it harder for people operating multiple profiles to get away with it.

2) Someone acts like a jerk and they want to start over under a new name, which is unfair to people who have a right to know who they're talking to - especially if that person was problematic in their first encounter.

3) Someone is pretending to be a celebrity.

So to combat this, we've implemented a system of Verification. People who are Verified will have the word Verified in blue on their profile.


Video chats for verification will be very fast and all business. We just need to establish that you're a live human who matches their TMF persona. And if you don't feel like getting verified, no problem! There's no penalty or consequence for not participating.

How do I verify myself?

KT and I were both verified on request because we'd already met Jeff IRL at many events over many years. But the video chat will be absolutely painless because he's a very decent fellow. For your own peace of mind and that of potential TMF friends, get it done!

I agree, nothing wrong with being safe, and it really did only take 30 secs or so when I did it, when it first became an option I think, I can't remember, but happy to do it again at some point, just to get my blue tick back, let me know Jeff, don't forget thou, I'm in the UK so time zones 😛

Because of the way user types transferred from vbulletin to xenforo, the old verification tag is still in the back end but doesn't show here. I fixed yours and it shows now 🙂

Anyone else with that problem, just let me know.

I'm a little behind on verification, but I'll catch up this weekend.

Y sospechamos que muchos de ellos son, en realidad, el mismo pequeño grupo de personas. La verificación dificultará que quienes operen varios perfiles se salgan con la suya.

2) Alguien actúa como un idiota y quiere empezar de nuevo con un nuevo nombre, lo cual es injusto para las personas que tienen derecho a saber con quién están hablando, especialmente si esa persona fue problemática en su primer encuentro.

3) Alguien se hace pasar por una celebridad.

Para combatir esto, hemos implementado un sistema de verificación. Las personas verificadas tendrán la palabra "Verificado" en azul en su perfil.


Los videochats para la verificación serán muy rápidos y totalmente profesionales. Solo necesitamos confirmar que eres una persona real que coincide con su perfil de TMF. Y si no quieres que te verifiquen, ¡no hay problema! No hay penalización ni consecuencias por no participar.
