Since I listen to all kinds of music, I couldn't vote for just one category. Rock, rap, pop, techno are my favorites but I like the other genres as well (just don't hear 'em as often). 🙂

Does "Classic" mean "Classical" as in Mr. Beethoven, J.S.Bach, Mr. Mozart, Mr. Mahler, and those guys from hundreds of years ago ?

Or does "Classic" mean "Claasic Rock" like the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton (with Dwayne Alman, please), Elvis, and even Don McClain and those guys from that time ?

Or does it mean back from the days of A.M. radio ?

Its too bad

You can't make polls with checkboxes instead, too many good choices.

I voted for "others" because I didn't see "Classic Rock" in your list of choices (although it might be there under a title I didn't recognize). 😕

Ah yes... give me Jethro Tull, Rush, Roxette, Thirty-eight Special, and Lynard Skynnerd any day. (British, Canadian, Sweedish, and two Southern Rock bands.) 😎

The music I listen to really depends on my mood at any given moment. Currently I'm listening to various jazz and blues artists, hence my vote, but I've also got Vivaldi and Alanis Morissette in my CD changer as well; other recent listens include the Beatles, Avril Lavigne, Aaron Copeland, Motley Crue and Diana Krall, among others. Definitely an "all of the above" option would have been nice :cool2:

I answered "Others" because none of the categories really corresponds to my CD collection as whole. But "Metal/Gothic" does cover part of it. The basis of my CD collection is progressive rock. However, it's not really the classics like Genesis, King Crimson or Yes (although I do own and like some of the works by some of those old bands). I prefer more exotic, unusual, sometimes obsure bands, like Univers Zero, Ozrics Tentacles, Magma, etc. Also, half of the CDs I own are of genres that aren't progressive rock but sill related in some way. This includes some gothic, as well as some of the more modern "metal" bands that have been coming out these last few years (or old ones that have changed their old style for something a bit more sophisticated). You can toss in a few alternative, new age, semi-classical, folk, ethnic and psychedelic bands, including a few popular ones.

Rock, but mostly from long ago (early 1960's to mid 1970's in my case).

The problem with this poll was, that the maximal number of choices was ten and the maximal number of music styles is surly over hundred. So I had to sum up very strong.

🙁 🙁 🙁

I listen to varios kinds of music, from Sinatra to nsync to Dr Dre. I mainly listen to Rap, and rarly listen to pop like nsync. So I had to go with rap.

I'm pretty eclectic when it comes to music. I like just about everything that's out there. My favs are probably show tunes (ie - Rogers & Hammerstein), Big Band Swing and the oldies (50s & 60s). The only things I really don't like are heavy metal/acid and what I not so affectionately call crap rap. I don't mind the musical style of rap. I just hate the sex and violence platform that some of it has become.

Definitely classical music, or as my friends who have been in the car wiht me call it: Music to speed by!

Think I'm kidding? Try NOT speeding when you've got a GOOD copy of Mozart's "Requiem" playing at anything above a whisper.

I voted others. I'm a big showtunes freak, though I have eclectic tastes. When I'm not jammin' to Sondheim or Jason Robert Brown, you can usually find me groovin' to sad/upset people with pianos, aka Tori Amos, Carly Simon and Ben Folds. And Queen. Queen me likey. I also love classical (especially Chopin, all 3 movements of Beethoven's Pathetique Sonata, and Smetana's Die Moldau) and ragtime, and some pop. Not Britney/Justin pop. I also enjoy some lovely Rolling Stones now and then. And when I'm feeling really hip, I'll pull out the 80s cartoons soundtracks and Dan Fogelberg...

Music I dislike is mainly techno. Migraine city, man. Ow.

Out of the lot on the list... Rock, Punk, Hardcore, Grunge, Hip-Hop, Rap, Metal, Gothic, Blues, Jazz, Soul, Reggae, Ska (a bit), Folk, Techno (only s a bit), House (a wee bit), Classical (depends on the tune), Pop (as long as it ain't manufactured crap), Britpop, Easy listening (some)...

You didn't mention Funk, Indie, Rock n' Roll, Ambient and Psychedelia, but that can be in the Other category. Das a lot, eh? You could say I'm an open-minded eclectic...

Although I love music as a whole I have to say hip hop r&b is my favorite.

I'm a big fan of the classical classical artists- Mozart, Haydn, and of course Beethoven.
