I was just wondering if anyone would be able to remember about their worst nightmare thus far... I reckon that some can haunt a person for life even when they reach adult age, so has any of you suffered from such nightmares, or any at all? If so what was your worst one?

My worst nightmare was probably a few months ago. I had a dream that I was driving an empty school bus, just me and one dream-friend. A dream-friend being a character my dream made up, I've never met anyone who looked remotely like them in real life, but in the dream I knew they were a good friend. At any rate, I knew I was in a hurry to get somewhere and I didn't want to stop for anything. I barely had control of the bus, careening back and forth between two lanes on a one way street. When we came up on a pair of crosswalks with at least half a dozen people crossing the street. I knew if I hit the brakes I could stop, but for whatever reason I felt like I couldn't; I swerved and tried to miss them, and I'd almost managed to convince myself I had until I turned to my friend and asked if he thought I'd hit anyone, and he just looked at me with this scared look and told me there was no way I'd missed, and that's when I woke up.

It's the only dream I've ever had that made me so sick to my stomach I couldn't eat for two days.

I used to have reoccuring nightmares about Godzilla.Yep.It's wierd because I love those crazy ass movies. They always involved me running and trying to get away but no matter how far I ran or where I went he was always on my trail.I believe the significance of the dreams pertained more to the act of running rather than monster itself. The question is,what was I really running from and what did the dreams really mean? :idunno:

I've had two nightmares I remember vividly to this day...

The first was when i was 4 years old, and must have read about or heard Hansel & Gretel
on the radio. I have this image stuck in my head of the witch (my god, her face is HUGE).
It was terrifying for a 4 year old. I woke up screaming and ran out of my bedroom, into
the hallway, and then probably in to my parent's room, although my memory ends at the
hallway.

I had another when I was in my 20's. A guy I had known most of my life, had occasionally
dated, and was friends with was trying to kill me. He came to my dorm in college (I went
to an all women's college, but the dream college was nothing like the real one) and told my
friends that we were engaged, and that he was looking for me. I was in the bathroom, or
shower possibly, and I remember this chase through the dorm. Then it somehow my focal
point switched, and I was watching him at my parent's house (although my parents were
divorced at the time) telling them that we were engaged and he was looking for me, had
they seen me. I remember running through the back yards of the houses in the
neighborhood and hearing him running behind me, seeing the knife he was carrying
glinting in the moonlight.

I almost never dream about people I know, and never about being murdered before
or since, so it really stayed with me and almost haunted me. He lives down the street
from my mother, took over his grandmother's funeral home, and I see him and his family
occasionally in passing, and sometimes at funerals.

My worst nightmare was about a super version of a vampire bat. :bat: It the dream it bit me in the back of the neck and hung on sucking my blood. It was strong and I couldn't dislodge it by reaching behind myself. I started to shirvel up and realized that it was actually sucking out all of my insides and nothing would be left of by an empty sack of skin. Then I woke up, sweating. 😱

Jeez, you people have some scary-assed nightmares.... :shake:

My worst nightmares tend to be of the same stripe: it's dark and somebody nasty is chasing me. :scared: Having read the above posts I think I'm gonna ask my subconscious to step it up a notch and cook up something really scary. Or maybe not. :dog:

I've had several dreams I suppose people would consider nightmares, but when I wake up I don't really feel affected by them most of the time.

Though one I remember that freaked me out was the idea of something shadowy possessing this jar that my parents bought and kept in our upstairs bathroom (I was about 15 at the time). I had a dream that it could slither out into any other shadows nearby, so you always had to keep moving so that it couldn't slide into your own shadow. Because when it did, bad things happened. Never saw what actually happened when it succeeded, but it was still a scary thought.

One dream I had recently freaks me out. I remember there were two parts to it. The first part involved taking my dog for a walk. He was tied outside to a tree with a 30 foot long leash or whatever. Only when I start to unhook him, I realize the leash was never actually tied to the tree. One end was latched onto my dog's collar; the other end of it had somehow gotten into my pup's mouth and was poking out one of his eyes. He wasn't in any sort of discomfort, but the mental image makes me wince. >.<
The second part of that dream was where I was talking with my grandfather about his childhood. At one point he was talking about something his mother made for him- a special kind of pancake or whatever. But then he stopped, and started to cry because he couldn't remember anything. In the dream, I think he had Alzheimer's. I remember it being so heartbreaking, because it's rare that you ever see anyone in my family break down, and when they do, they pretty much go ballistic. It's all or nothing, so...

Not really "They're gonna get you" sort of dreams, but disturbing images, sad ideas... those are my nightmares.

Very... my poor puppy. He was sleeping in my room that night, so when I woke up I had to get up and make sure he was okay. He was all confused about what was wrong. XD

Dreams of being reunited with my ex-wife are my worst.

The one I just posted as a free association in the "May Lose Reputation Through Tickling" thread was pretty bad too.

Two nightmares come to mind, and one of them happened just last night.

One nightmare which has been recurring at some times, is that I am kidnapped, and taken on a plane, and flown up to airline cruising level, say 30,000 or 40,000 feet, and then tossed out, with no parachute. In the dream, I just keep falling, and falling, and falling, and never hit the ground, almost like a free fall. I know that when I've had this nightmare, I've sometimes awakened to find myself clutching the sides of my bed for dear life.

The other one occurred just last night. In this one, I'm trapped in a zoo, in one of the animal cages, and suddenly, a giant panda shows up, and just keeps beating the crap out of me. The panda has me backed up to the wall, and whales on me, hitting me with his paws, and his head. I woke up last night in the middle of the night, and had images of this huge panda in my face. Until last night, I had never given much thought to pandas. Now, I hope I'm not going to be paranoid if I ever go to a zoo and see one.

Those are two that come to mind.

Nightmares

When my wife were dating in college back in the early nineties, she had a dream that I was part of the forces sent into Panama to take down Manuel Noriega. According to her, I was killed in action and she was the only one the government could get hold of to identify my body. The next morning, I was holding her while she was telling me this story. She was not only sobbing heavily, but she was literally shaking, not cold, her body was in such shock, her nervous system was on overload. Her dream had made me very uneasy for awhile afterward.

I had a nightmare that my mother told me she met another guy and was divorcing my father.

John Madden only covered by a speedo chasing me around, carrying a box of candy and roses.

I once had a dream that I met someone online and we decided that we should go to a concert together.. Well I had to stop at a rest stop bc my parents were following us in their van... I stepped out of his van and went to see what they wanted.. and in my dream there had been a murder in Kansas and they had found the body and were trying to find the murderer... Well apparently the guy I left with was the guy who murdered that girl.. So I casually said.. My parents are freaking out over something weird.. So I'm just gonna go home with them. And he then tried to yank back into the car to kidnap and kill me.. but I got away and jumped into my parents van and the dude was chasing us... I woke up crying and screaming and shaking.. ughhhh.. What a horrible nightmare that was

For me those would be my 'nuclear' dreams. 😛

The first involved me being somewhere up Central London, near the river. Everything going slow as I see a missile dropping out of clear blue sky. A red fireball explodes and I get sucked backwards through the air (I've since read that this actually happens... the explosion of a nuke is so forceful it blows all the air away and creates a vacuum). The last memory of this dream is staring at the grass below me as everything goes to blinding white. Strangely, no real sense of fear in the dream itself, just a feeling that can best be described as 'Oh bollocks... this is it'. But it did scare me for a while afterwards, and also a few of my schoolmates who happened to believe in prophetic dreams. 😀

The second of these dreams was more obscure, with being out in the countryside and seeing the flash in the distance which I new meant the end for me. For this dream I was semi-lucid, making me probably the only person in history who upon seeing a nuclear blast thought 'Oh no... not again'. 🙂
