When will the Ravens get the credit they deserve?

Second Superbowl victory and multiple broken records and still no credit? Hardly anybody picked the Ravens to win. Even immediately after the game was over the commentators proceeded to talk not about the victorious team, but about the Niners and how they will bounce back and be a great team next year. People are going to complain about the lack of a pass interference call on San Fran's last 4th down play, but the officials could call holding, interference, or illegal contact on almost every play. Give Baltimore credit where credit is due. We dominated the post season. We beat Denver and New England at home. We went to New Orleans and beat a team most people said were better than us. We deserved to win this game. Congratulations to the Ravens!!!

I hardly call having to come back to win "dominating". You beat Denver because the defense went on a picnic and left the stadium with less than a minute to play in regulation. The Pats forgot the game has a second half and once again, the Ravens had to come back to win. You were helped tremendously by so many non-calls of holding during the superbowl I lost count. These are hardly "dominating" stats. But a win is a win. Be proud! Go Ravens!

The Ravens played very well along with the 49ers. Come on, we did awesome the first two quarters but the 49ers made a comeback and had every ravens fan worrying if we blew the game. We didn't dominate the entire game, maybe the first half but definitely not the second. As far as the bad calls go, it's football and thats sports for ya. Flacco deserves this super bowl win, hes one of the best QBs out there and as far as Lewis goes, I don't respect him outside of football but his career deserves alot of respect. Even the 49ers fans will give some credit but I can see why they would be pissed lol.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not impressed with any team who has a QB who trademarks himself kissing his bicep. That's about as full of yourself as it gets. Given that note of arrogance it was only fitting he became the first Niner qb to throw an interception in a superbowl. Kiss that stat! The Ravens were hardly overly impressive or dominant in their championship run. When spectators remember the other team blowing it (see prior post) just as much if not more so than your team winning, that says something. But again, congrats to the Ravens. A win is a win!

Congrats Nicole on your team winning....

My diehard Saints fandom prevented me from even thinking about pulling for the Niners (from the many years of beating the shit outta us in the 80s/90s to the more recent painfully heart-wrenching losses)...

The Ravens played a great game & deserve the championship...

However, I'm not sure where the OP is getting this "me against the world" vibe. Yea, after the Championship games, it was reasonable to peg the Niners as the favorites. And yes, ESPN loves the Niners cuz they have young, arrogant, flashy QB (who played like crap in the 1st half) who makes big plays.

But far be it for me to question Las Vegas with the opening line of -5 pt. Yet, as the game got closer, the line moved to (last I saw) 3-1/2 pts, so there were a lotta people giving the Ravens a real chance to win, and they ultimately did.

I lost $650 on the game. im sick. as much as i dont like the ravens, they did do well. i was just disappointed in the 49ers play. they didnt play up to their potential.

^Just remember that Joe Montana wasn't playing in this game.^

I hate the Ravens (Steelers fan) but I have to highly disagree with this, they beat the upstart Colts as they should have but a playoff win is never easy so its a win.. then they went to Denver where its tough to play even a bad Broncos team (thin air) and beat the hottest team in the league at that point and Peyton Manning... then they went to New England and beat Tom Brady and the Pats in the post season.. thats a hell of an accomplishment... and finally beat the trendy high scoring tough to stop pistol/read option of the 49ers and shoved it down a very good defenses throat...

so dominate no.. overly impressive....very much so

You should have bet on "over" for the length of the singing of the national anthem.

I stand corrected on my wording. "What" they accomplished? - impressive. "How" they accomplished it? - not even close. So far off in fact, imo it diminishes what they did accomplish.

How they accomplished it? a hail mary beats the Broncos... they demolish the patriots and beat the 49ers without it ever really in doubt, im not seeing the unimpressive

Since when is a "hail mary" impressive? It dictates you were so far out of the game you threw a piece of crap to the wind and hoped for the best. The prayer was answered. The Denver defensive backs went to lunch on that play. Congrats to the Ravens. They were handed a game anyone who watches NFL knows they should have lost.

"Demolished" the Patriots? What game were you watching? Look at the stats: Most first downs? - Pats. Most passing yardage? - Pats. Total yards? - Pats. New England also had more yards per rush with fewer carries. Baltimore was losing at halftime and leading by only one when the 4th quarter began. The only glaring stat was 3 turnovers Pats and none Ravens. So again, the Ravens get a game handed to them by turnovers. Otherwise they were outplayed the entire game. No stat in that game showed me the Ravens outplayed the Pats or that the Ravens were impressive. Stats do not lie.

The Super Bowl? The game comes down to the final minute and San Fran in the red zone. Hardly a game that was "ever really in doubt". Again, most passing yards? - San Fran. Most rushing yards? - San Fran by a mile. Most first downs? - San Fran. Total yards? - San Fran. Most yards per play? - San Fran. Please tell me how anyone can say Baltimore outplayed San Fran?? They had a 108 yard kickoff return (with no-call holding because as you said yourself, the refs let those things go in the superbowl) and the refs decide to go blind again in the final minutes of the game (For starters go to that 4th down play near the goal line - then for more laughs watch the replay of that safety and count the holding by the Ravens ). So please tell me again how this game was 'ever really in doubt' ?

If the refs 'let calls go' in the superbowl and are afraid to call facts, then so be it. But the fact that the game even came down to a controversial call alone should tell you the Ravens couldn't have been that impressive.
A win is a win and Baltimore has another trophy in their case. But don't even try to tell me they 'demolished' or outplayed anybody. There is a difference between outscoring your opponent and outplaying your opponent. Bookmakers call this a "false win" when making their 'true' lines for the following week during the season. How they won their games was hardly impressive. The fact they managed to score more points when being dominated and outplayed by their opponents was impressive.

Congrats to the Ravens.

Cause they lost to a team led by Charlie Batch? I mean I am a big Steelers fan and it was a nice moment for Batch but come on.

Seriously though, the "best" team in the league hasn't won the Super Bowl since Green Bay did it, or very few times prior. It's all about getting hot at the right time. Joe Flacco is NOT an elite QB, just played some very good games down the stretch.

The 2013 Ravens will most likely go down as one of the best teams in NFL history that is a Super Bowl champion, along with 2007 NY Giants that that ended Pats perfect season. They struggled through 2nd half of the season but came together to clinch division with a 10-6 record. The playoff run was, let me think, UN-FUCKINGBELIEVABLE! Winning on the road against the AFC's topseeded teams! I held my breath when 49ers mounted a comeback but Ravens held on to to earn its 2nd Lombardi Trophy in 13 years. I would say they earned there credit back in 2000! Considering they've only been around for 16 seasons in which they have won 2 Super Bowls, clinched division multiple times, and appeared in playoffs several times...

Who was it that said they didn't deserve credit?
