Unscripted, mostly. I love the spontaniety of it, it keeps me on my toes and I love those sort of surprises.

I also like the idea of knowing that you are gonna have a tickle session too, this builds to an excited state waiting for the start.

I've previously waited upstairs and got the cuffs out and called my ler upstairs, just waiting for him and he wasn't in the know. I must admit though it was hard at keeping the excitement and anticipation out of my voice, I was practically giddy with holding in the giggling and the anticipation to see the surprise on his face.

Spontaneous tickling is more exciting short term because anything can happen being that you're tickling someone unrestrained on the spur of the moment. However with no restraints the tickling can end as quickly as it began if the lee (are they still a lee if they're not getting tickled voluntarily, or just a person getting tickled?) gets away right away.

"Scripted" tickling involving (usually) restraints that is pre-planned between both parties is ultimately more satisfying, because the ler can really "get in there" without the lee being able to get away, although I think you do sacrifice spontenaity this way.

As for me... I love spontaneous, with my Love, because those are moments we are enjoying each other in our silliness and in our our sensual means. It is hard to beat those carefree and playful times...

But as far as serious tickle play goes, I want restrained and there will be safe words. That just comes from being educated in BDSM by a very strict Domina. There are limits and safe words and they are respected. But more so, with tickling, I have witnessed some highly wiggly 'lees, and I am included in that list. If we were not restrained, the poor 'lers would get injured! And I have heard enough horror storries of people being tossed off beds by squirmy ladies and hitting their heads and what naught.
