who watches American Idol and who is your favorite to win?

They finally sent the right one home today! Camille's gone back to Hawaii. She's a decent singer, but not an American Idol by any means. You're right, I didn't get to see Elton John nignt yesterday, but I heard enough to say most of them sucked big time.

Tune in next week for the A. I. review by kis!😀

yes the did send the right one home, but they got the wrong bottom 3 again, I did not agree with the other 2 in the pick, it should have been Camille, John Peter Lewis and John Stevens. Elton is really tough to sing as was evident in last nights show. Most of them did not sing very good.

I am going for George for the win...I just love him, he is da bomb! Fantasia has a good voice but there is something that just doesn't hit me with her. Latoya has much more class and a great voice, Jasmine is good although last night wasn't her best. Jennifer rocked last night and Diana is good but not good enough till the end.

Next one off has to be John Stevens or John Peter Lewis!!!

Bring back Amy...I liked her!!

Sir Elton...

Never realized what a range his songs had until the other night...sheesh. Not a good showing but most people think this is the weakest group that the show has produced so far.

Bottom 3 was indeed wrong again...sigh...they need to get a handle on this problem. My wife suggested that they rework the format and have you vote for the person you'd like to see LEAVE rather than stay. Makes sense to me really.

Some good performances, but there's still quite a few weak contestants.

Still like Fantasia, and it's not her fault Macy Gray got popular first..lol.

Q

Yes, I was happy to see that Camille was finally sent home. She should have been sent home two weeks ago already, long before Matt or Amy were ever shown the door.

I also agree the bottom three were again wrong. Hopefully it will be just the one week, due to the fact both Diana and Jasmine were sick this week, and both had somewhat weak performances due to their illnesses. If they get back on their game this coming week, though, and display their standard talent, and STILL wind up in the bottom three for the next vote, them some people in America definitely need a spanking and a hearing aid.

As for most of them putting on rather sub-par performances this last week, that just has a lot to do with the fact they were all asked to perform Elton John songs. That is the biggest challenge they have faced yet. Eltons songs are extremely difficult to sing, for ANYONE. Even some of the top singers on the charts right now would have a hell of a time singing some of his songs. They are so wide in range, and really strain ones voice. Elton is an amazing artist to sing the songs he writes. It really shows his talent.

The one thing that kinda threw me off this last week though was the three groups. One group was the bottom group (Camille, Diana, and Jasmine), one group was the middle group, and one group was the top group. They never stated which was the top or the middle. I always thought Fantasia was the top vote getter, but she was in a group with John Stevens, and John Peter Lewis. Does that mean that John Stevens and John Peter Lewis are also raking in the top votes? If that is the case, I find that EXTREMELY disturbing. Both of them should be OFF the show, not ranking that damn high in votes. If they were the middle group, and George, LaToya, and Jennifer were the top group, then I am thrilled, but shocked that Fantasia dropped into the second group.

This season is truly messed up. It will be interesting, and possibly disappointing, to see how it all works out in the end. Hopefully america will get it right in the end.

My top vote still goes for either Fantasia or George though. I will be happy to see either of them win this season.

Mimi

ok this weeks show, alot better then last weeks Elton John fiasco. Now I have not been the ultra fan of Fantasia but she blew me away this week, definitely the best performance of the night. I still adore George even though this was not his best showing. I still say out with John Stevens and Jon Peter Lewis even though they sounded alot better then last week, I think John Stevens has the over 50 set voting for him! Diana might lose it also, she will not sustain until the end. I thought Latoya was awesome this week as was Jennifer. I say the top 4 as I see it right now, George, Latoya, Fantasia, Jennifer. I love Jasmine, she is so sweet but she doesn't have enough to go the distance either.

WOW, what a night!! They really came back from a poor week last week, to remind everyone again that they DESERVE to be in this contest, and it DOES serve a purpose! Bravo, contestants!

There is a clear line drawn between the 8 final contestants. I'm not sure how to voice this opinion without possibly offending someone, so just let me quickly say that what I am ABOUT to say is in no way intended to offend or upset anyone. I am a die hard believer in all races and people being created equally, and I respect every person walking this planet the same as the next, regardless of any racial, religious, political, or ethnic backgrounds.

That being said, I feel there is a visible and vocal line drawn between the lighter skinned contestants, and the darker skinned contestants. George, Fantasia, LaToya, and Jennifer are just in a totally different league than Diana, John, JLP, and Jasmine. Don't get me wrong...Diana, Jasmine, John, and JLP ARE all good singers, but they do not come even close to being in the same catagory as the other 4. I really believe this competition is going to come down to the 4 outstanding darker complexioned contestants. Week after week this season, those four continue to improve and increase the competitive space between the 8 finalists. Honestly, if ANY of the four of them win, I'll be happy. All 4 deserve a recording contract, right here, right now.

I was pissed at the judges tonight for their comments to George on his performance. I thought he was WONDERFUL tonight. He did a fantastic job, took a song totally out of character, made it his own, and pulled it off beautifully. I was so mad I was ready to go to fox.com and suggest they add a new phone line...one to vote the judges OFF the damn show. Blargh.

I was also pleasantly surprised by Quentin (sp?) tonight. When I first heard he was going to be a guest judge, I asked myself "What the hell does a movie director/actor know about music and singing? Why wouldn't they choose a singing professional to guest judge?" Boy was I wrong. After tonight, I'd honestly be thrilled if they brought him on as a full time judge! He was full of superb comments, praise, constructive critisizm, and quite frankly, did an even better job than the other 3 judges. He made tonights show even better.

Fantasia...WOW! OMG what a performance! That girl never ceases to amaze and astound me with her vocal abilities. By far her best yet, and one of the best performances I have EVER seen in any season of American Idol! Jennifer continues to improve weekly, and put on another breath-taking performance tonight. What power she has. I don't think I've ever heard anyone pull off a Whitney song so well...especially considering how tough it is to even attempt Whitney in the first place! As I already stated, I disagree with the judges concerning George. I thought he was great tonight. And LaToya blew everyone away again this week. She is another one that continues to improve and make people take notice. A phenomenal four.

Tonight WAS one of the better performances I have seen from both John Stevens and John Peter Lewis, but still not good enough to carry them through to the end. John Stevens was better because he was able to do a song in his own genre, and that is where he tends to shine most. He is not verstile enough to pull off anything else, but when he can perform good old lounge classics, he really is quite good. John Peter Lewis seems to do better when he can put on a good fast paced, up-beat performance. He had a bit of a rock edge to him tonight, and it suited him well. He did a nice job with it. However, that sporadic funky chicken dance of his has GOT to go. Lord that boy has no rhythm.

As much as I love both Diana and Jasmine (they are both so damn cute and innocent and bubbly and sweet), I am afraid they both may have put the nails in their coffins tonight. Neither of them put on their best performances, and as tight as the competition was tonight, they NEEDED to be on top of their games. I am pretty sure we will be saying goodbye to one of them tomorrow.

Hmmm...I think that sums up my analysis for tonight...LOL

Mimi 😀

Songs and movies...

Fantasia was awesome indeed, but LaToya came to play tonight and wasn't far behind. She needs to get focused and find some material that let's her rip the roof off and show her voice. I always felt that was the reason Kelly Clarkson won...better choices weekly for songs makes a huge difference.

Jasmine needs to go if you vote strictly on this weeks performance, but on the other hand the Jo(h)ns shouldn't still be there at all...*shrug...all 3 will be gone before it's over if there's any justice anyway. The redhead will land a Vegas gig and a part in Quentins next movie, and JPL will end up on stage somewhere. Not sure if Jasmine has a spot in entertainment though. After the traditional touring show of course.

Better show, hope they keep it up.
Q

Fantasia should win this competition. She can take ANY style of music and make it her own.

Next to go should be John Stevens or John Peter Louis. They suck week after week.

Latoya and Jennifer should round out the top 3

well I think they got the bottom 3 correct this week even though I think Diana is adorable, maybe in another couple of years she'd be better but she is not able to keep up with the top pack. I thought John Stevens should have been the one ousted tonight but Jon Peter Lewis had to go soon too.

Mimi, you read my mind exactly, but I was thinking I didn't want to cross lines as I am in no way a judgemential person as to color, religion, orientation, I am very open minded but the top contenders to this competetion are the African Americans, they have put them selves way ahead....

i was surprised abit by the bottom 3 considering that John Stevens actually did have a good week this week...he did well and simon is right about him...his age is a factor, but as with anything good he'll age...i really thought diana was gonna go before either of the johns, she just comes off really cutesy to me...younger than herself, ermmm i'll edit this once i figure out what i'm trying to say about her.

ok, tonights show was very good. I was a little disappointed in my personal fav - George, but I still say its time to oust John Stevens, I just can't stomach this dude. All the gals were great, this is going to come down to the woman on the show...but I still love George, he is just great.

i'm gonna miss John Stevens, although i think he represented WNY very well...i'm glad he was able to stick it out for as long as he did(although i'd like to see diana degarmo go first, but oh well)and i'm happy that he showed buffalo in a different light...not the chicken wing eatin, football crazed city but as a place with diverse talents🙂

Yes, the girls were wonderful this week...all 5 of them put on amazing powerhouse performances. Bravo ladies, bravo.

I DO adore George, and I was very disappointed that he did not put on a very good performance last night. I REALLY hope it does not hurt him in tonights results show. I wanna see George go through to the last 2-3 weeks at least. John Stevens started his performance good last night, but then just petered out half way through it. I understand why though...for one, Mandy is a very difficult song to sing, and secondly, John is not known as one of the powerhouses, and that song requires a good bit of power when you kick into the final chorus.

I guess I would predict and expect John Stevens to leave tonight. If anyone else gets voted off, I will be very surprised.

Mimi

I was totally, totally shocked by tonights results. When they brought George down I thought he went to the correct group. How Fantasia, Latoya and Jennifer ended up in the bottom group when it should have been the exact opposite is beyond me. Jennifer should not have been voted out. It should have been John Stevens, Diana or Jasmine. Once again I love George but he did not give his best performance last night. This time the voters proved they did not really listen to the singers...

Total, complete, utter, mind-blowing, sickening, unreal...

BULLSH*T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What the hell is WRONG with some of the people calling and voting this year? I have watched Idol from the very first season, and I have never been as sickened and disgusted as I am this year. Is 90% of america tone deaf?! Jennifer Hudson was/IS the second coming of Aretha Franklin. There is no way in HELL she should have been voted off tonight. And for that matter, neither Fantasia nor LaToya should have been in the bottom 3 with her! The three strongest and best singers in this competition, and they get the least votes. Something is seriously wrong with that.

While I was relieved that George wound up being safe after his lackluster performance last night, I am still so stinking mad and frustrated and disturbed at this weeks voting results. Why the hell is John Stevens still on there? How did he get more votes than Jennifer, Fantasia, and LaToya? Why is that clown still in the competition? Who on Gods green earth is VOTING for that guy?

All I can say right now to sum up my foul mood and disappointment is #1) Jennifer better have a recording contract from SOMEONE by the end of this week, and #2) America had DAMN well better unplug their ears, pull their heads out of their asses, and vote for the stinking TALENTED singers next week. ARGH!

Mimi :sowrong: :sowrong: :sowrong: :sowrong:

I feel your pain, Meems, as we are very disappointed as well, but we have learned in this contest is you don't have to win to have a successful career😀

Computer fraud...

I think we're seeing some hacking, personally. It strikes me as the type of thing a few acquaintances of mine in that genre would think of as "funny". With the perfected dialers from computer setups that are available now they could probably swing it without too much effort, especially since both of them have a few hundred "slave" computers that they've bugged without the owners knowledge....

Jennifer had some spotty early performances, but there's no way any of those 3 should have been standing there.

We may have to call Venray in on this...sigh.

:sowrong: Q

i was really stunned by what happened tonight...although i guess i shouldn't have been, i think paula abdul was right the girls that voted for jon peter lewis jumped ship once he was out and started voting for john stevens, but not to worry i'm sure that it won't happen next week and that he will be going home soon...although i do have to say that out of the 3 "divas" i think jennifer was the one with the weakest voice and La Toya has the best...but that's my opinion.

I just tried visiting the official American Idol forums to see what was up over there, and man, I wish I hadn't. What a joke.

Several hundred fans are trying to turn tonights results into a race war, and as ANTI-prejudice as I am, I really do not feel that was a factor. Another 100,000+ people are teeny-bopper John Stevens freaks who are all attempting to conspire together to make JS the winner of this competition, and calling everyone who disagrees with them, or anyone who says anything factual about Johns lack of talent, a 'poopie head' or some such infantile nonsense. And another 1/3 are declaring a boycott on Idol and all it's sponsors for tonights outrage. *shakes head* As upset as I am, I am nowhere near the fanatical state some of these people are. If this group is represting the voting American public, I can see WHY things are so screwed up.

One topic I see being repeated occassionally though, I DO strongly agree with. And that is that Fox should change it's voting system. Either limit the votes to one vote per household per night, or, better yet, make the weekly vote for who you want to LEAVE, not stay. With several incredible singers this season, it's nearly impossible to choose just one and focus all your votes on them alone. And then the others you really like wind up suffering. If they changed the voting system to a 'vote to see who leaves', I think the results would be a lot more clear. You wouldn't have people who felt forced to vote for their favorite underdog to keep them on, figuring that the best ones will be safe (which is what I honestly think happened tonight...a lot of people figured Jennifer, Fantasia, and LaToya would be safe, and therefore voted for George or Diana or Jasmine in an attempt to keep them on). You could just pick the one you felt no longer belongs in the competition, and vote to get them off the show. Survivor a la American Idol, if you will.

I don't know if even THAT is a solution, but honestly something has got to be done. And quick, before the viewers over on the official AI forum begin weilding machine guns.

John Peter Lewis will possibly get by because of all the teeny boppers who like his look. Which, in my opinion (but it's just my opinion), is not very good. Ya know, he has more than once reminded me of a young Mark Hamill. Hmm... I gotta quit watching Star Wars so much. 😀

You mean JPL plays the voice of a pyschotic killer clown on an action cartoon, too? lol (damn I'm gonna miss Mark Hamill as the Joker...unless they have more episodes of Justice League with him..since that new "The Batman " cartoon will be different than The Animated Series)

Mimi;

I agree with almost everything you've been saying. I no longer have interest in AI. People are basically stupid and I thought this John Lewis person should've never been part of the competition to begin with!

But, I'm in agreement that race plays a part in this, even if it's a small part. I've been watching the show since the beginning and after the Tamyra Gray mess and the Reuben-Clay scandal, I don't think American Idol voters are willing to allow any more African-American winners any time soon. How else can that John Peter Lewis guy still be there and Jennifer go home?

I always thought Jennifer was the better female singer even with the rocky start. The judges nit-picked her to death in the beginning. First, they told her she sings too loud, then when she sofened it up, they told her she wasn't passionate enough in her performance. They have been very hard on her for no reason except she has an exceptional voice, but it is not a typical pop music voice. Everyone likes Fantasia, but her voice is too sharp on my ears. Latoya's voice is okay. I still think Jennifer was the one. She reminds me of a young Jennifer Holliday with some Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston (pre-drugs).

American Idol's loss is going to be some record company's gain. She'll have an album out before AI even picks a winner. In the meantime, voters really need to get their heads out of their rear ends and vote for the ones who have talent, not the ones they may think are cute. This show is turning into a bad joke like the rest of reality TV shows.

I still don't think race is playing a role (not at this point yet, anyway. I could be proven wrong in weeks to come, and if I am, I will have totally lost respect for AI and everyone associated with it), considering Jennifer was the first one of the darker skinned contestants to be kicked off. Up until last night, only caucasians were voted off, and the darker skinned competitors were by far in the lead (which they should be, considering they are the most talented ones in the contest).

Otherwise I agree with you on every point, Kris. John should have been out long ago, and definitely should have been gone before Jennifer left. She has more talent in her pinky finger than he can ever dream of having. She was one of my favorites, and words can not even begin to express my disappointment in her removal from the competition.

And yes, voters really need to straighten up and vote for the REAL talent on the show. AI is quickly turning into an MTV broadcast gone bad.

Mimi

I agree with all the above, I think voting a person off instead of voting for fav's will be the better system. I can't explain what happened this week but I was totally dissappointed. This is really the 1st season I watched and can't believe who America is voting for. John Stevens has very little talent compared with Jennifer...she was great and had alot more then voice, John has nothing, no voice, no charisma and he does look like Stan Laurel!!

😀 I predict George to be America's favorite and George will beat Diana in the finale. 😀

Well, here it is, a new week in the American Idol saga.

I knew tonight was gonna be a difficult one to sit through long in advance, due to it being Gloria Estefan night. All of her music is latin pop, and lets be frank, latin pop is NOT a doable genre for most of the contestants on the show. Hell, 99% of the population would not be able to get out a full chorus of a latin pop song without missing half the notes and busting a button or two on their shirt.

I honestly felt sorry for the contestants tonight, and while none of them put on stellar performances, I felt most did their best under the circumstances. Fantasia and George, my two favorites to this point, were both a bit off tonight, not that I can blame them. They both chose hard songs, and gave it their best shot. I do feel George did MUCH better than the judges gave him credit for, though. Given the genre, I thought he did pretty damn good. LaToya hung in there the best she could vocally, but really stepped up her performance with her wonderful dancing.

Jasmine picked a song that HAD a lot of potential, and she did do most of it beautifully, but she was off key quite a bit and unfortunately, fell a bit short.

John Stevens...well, lets not even go there. That was so horrible it was PAINFUL to listen to. If he does not go this week, then there is definitely some sort of conspiracy going, I tell ya.

Diana was actually my favorite tonight. I knew she was probably gonna be as soon as I learned it was Gloria Estefan night. Latin pop was a bit of a stretch, even for her, but she did the best job of the 6 finalists. She picked a great song, put a lot of energy into it, and showed off vocally. And I happened to think her dress was lovely. Simon has no damn taste.

Does Gloria every age? The woman is around 50 years old, and looks younger than I do at 30. I wanna know her secret.

Mimi 😀

P.S. I've alerted everyone in the mainstream forum that they REALLY need to tune into American Idol each week for the amount of tickling content that makes it's way into the show via Simon and Paula. Almost every night the show is on those two are at it. Someone needs to email Simon the url for this website. I think it may be right up his alley...lol
