Who's been here since the beginning?

I doubt you understand it more now than you did before. Practising it does not make you understand it, as a lot of other activities the humanity have been doing for thousands of years, without understanding them.

No, I understand my love of tickling a lot more than I did before. But fair enough your point.

I've been here since the beginning. The URL for my profile says that I am User No. 307:

http://www.ticklingforum.com/member.php?307-recycler1973

For those of you that remember Josie the Ticklish Pussycat... I was her husband from 2000 to 2003. (We split for non-tickling reasons, and it was amicable... more importantly, it was over a decade ago!)

I've been lucky enough to meet many of you, past and present. Josie and I met in January 1998, when I moved from Florida to her hometown of Albany NY for graduate school.

After she and I attended a few major tickling gatherings (NEST in Philly, April 2000... and Midwest NEST in Columbus OH, June 2000), we decided to co-host NYST (New York Society of Ticklephiles) about once a year during our marriage. We had four big gatherings and a few more smaller ones... good times.

Not only do I remember alt.multimedia.tickling (A.M.T.), but also alt.sex.fetish.tickling (A.S.F.T.) as well. Ah, memories...

These days, I am older, and (allegedly) wiser... I live in northern Delaware (right in between Baltimore and Philadelphia, on the I-95 corridor), and I am much more active on FetLife.com. My username there is del-tickler.

Also, I've gotten back into (erotic/fetish) photography. I am this close to starting up a side business: ticklishmodels.com. (I've registered the URL, but nothing is on that site yet.) For now, y'all are free to look at my portfolio on flickr.com. My photography username on FetLife is ticklishmodels.

One more thing: two years ago, I was diagnosed with borderline Aspergers syndrome. That explains a LOT... including my imperfect social skills. Therefore, if I've interacted with you in any way, and I made you feel bad or uncomfortable or otherwise negative, please accept my apology... it was not intentional.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

What an interesting thread - I was recently wondering how it all got started and thought maybe a section should be added somewhere, 'History of the TMF' , if such a thing could be pieced together.

I have been lurking and glancing from pretty close to the beginning, but didn't join until 2004, then started posting (mostly media content in 2005) before starting to engage with members and discussions more over the last few years.

I found the TMF through my initial online searches for ticklish celebrities using school computers during lunch break!
terrifyingly exciting it was when I started to use the site whenever I could, deleting browsing history afterwards etc.

Other early sites I found were SWTickle, Ropejock and a great list of ticklish celebrities..can't remember the name, but I think a member on here founded this and it probably formed the basis for the lists on TMF. There was a massive site listing hundreds of tickle stories too....one always stuck in my mind, involving the tickling of a girl called kelly/kerry - it blew my mind at the time.

The closest friend I've met on TMF actually turned out to be someone who didn't have a tickle fetish at all. How about that?!

Cheers

The short version (as I recall) was after a series of pages ran by former member Psycho4048 he found religion and a group got together to "save" what we had. I do NOT recall if it was the TMF then or became that AFTER Jeff and Myriads took the reins.

When did the TMF officially open its doors?

This month marks my 13th anniversary here. :ty:

The TMF was founded in November 2000. I joined April of 2001. Seen lots of people come and go. I really miss posting with some of the members who have gone. :sigh:

I think I was aware of its early presence, but it took me years, and a lot of courage, to join. I wanted to contribute because, more than anything, I thought it was wonderful that a number of authors shared their own thoughts and feelings so clearly through stories. I enjoyed some of them so much that I hoped to pass that kind of enjoyment on to whoever sought it.

The forum was founded on November 20th 2000 in it's first EZ Board incarnation. It wouldn't be until April of '01 that the forum moved to this platform, and Psycho left for personal reasons, and I was chosen as Admin. We've had a lot of staff come and go over the years, just as there have been a lot of members that have come and gone as well.

I have the forum's history in my notes, heck, I have most of the history of the tickling community recorded in my notes. It's a hobby. And my position here has allowed me to talk to most of the major players in the game.

I'm member #14. Most of the ones that proceeded that were test accounts and were erased, I'm not sure how many active accounts are lower.

Psycho ran several websites before the TMF, Tickling World, Galaxy and Universe, each an evolution of the last. And he created the TMF with the idea that by bringing together all the major figures of the community at the time, he'd build something special. And that was his vision for the TMF and it worked, and was quite successful. I was a member on that first board, and as Milagros wasn't about in those days I was the forums heaviest poster. And when they needed the first new mod, I was asked. This was right at the transition. Psycho had a religious awakening and decided to bow out, leaving the forum in the hands of Jeff, who was financing it. In need of a new Admin, for various reasons I was asked by him and the other current mods, and I accepted, and When the new version of the TMF launched I was 'Tzar' and we were off and running.

There have been many huge changes in the years since that launch day. We solved many problems, and are proud of the fact that the TMF has done much to make the tickling community more inclusive of women, and all the various gender mixes of tickling. At the start you could count female members on one hand. And any mention of /m anything was shouted down in terms that are pretty ugly. You can still see all of this in the forums post history. We save everything we can, and most of our early posts are still about.

The number of producers exploded, and used the forum as a platform for their own early growth. Other tickling forums, including the Theater and UK arose, and offered different feeling experiences then us, and we always were glad they were about, because we've always felt that some folks wouldn't like how we did things, and it was good they had other homes to go to. NEST was just about the only gathering, but the forum gave people a place to organize and many more appeared over time, binding the community tighter.

There is a lot of history here. And most of it lies in the members you see in this thread. They made it happen.

Cool thread! I'm another who's been here all along, and remembers ASFT, AMT, and other sites mentioned above. But I mostly lurk, and have used several screen names. (Last was dreamer117.) Things sure have come a long way... I remember back to at least 1990, maybe late 80s. Before even VHS tapes I had physical magazines like Bizarre Twist, Ticklish Tarts, and of course Tied & Tickled. Finding those (and keeping them hidden from family/friends!) took serious work.

In short, the internet progress on all this has been revolutionary!!

I'm still debating whether I should join this site or not.

From what I can tell , y'allz is a mite loony.

Great responses Ladies and Jellyspoons.

Myraids, great to hear your input too. Its nice to be reminded that overseeing this forum are dedicated, cool and considered cats like yourself.

Thanks for elaborating on the history Myriads - and thanks to all those who started and worked hard to make the forum what it is and indeed those who work equally hard now to keep things brilliant.
Cheers

Jeez, now this is a thread!

I've been here since 2001, barely de-lurking more than 2 times. Posted a few pics from play excursions here or there, did a stint trying to get into the community in the chat rooms and what not, but in the end, I've kinda been this silent watcher, observing all that's gone on.

I've always felt, as an outsider looking in, that oftentimes the mainstays of the community oftentimes saw things to be worse off then they were. Sure, there were fights and a lot of close-mindedness. Both still exist, to this date. But overall, the team of people that have kept this place going for close to 15 years now show that they truly care about trying to make this place the best they can, and realistically, while similar fights and spats happen in almost cyclic occurance, the trends of tolerance have been consistently (albeit slowly) moving positively.

Compare what this place is now, compared to 15 years ago. I remember near-hate-crime level rants when anything M/M showed up on the media forums. Now, sure, someone get's POed when a M/M isn't labelled as such, but other than that, it tends not to be a big deal. Thing is, if someone REALLY pulls something wrong, the community usually lets that person have it, oftentimes with good reason.

I've seen wonderful things done here, as well. From fundraisers for sick members to people going out and buying clips from a little known producer in Boston to help with his wife's medical troubles, it's always nice to see the community band together to help out people that oftentimes they've never met in the flesh.

God help you if you go into any of the politics forums, though 😉 All bets are off in there!

Just my two cents, from a lurker, going back into the land of the lurk 🙂
