I must say that I agree with the sentiment of this thread on both sides. Folks need to stay they asses home and stop the spread, including not looking for sessions! But also, the providers of said sessions need to chill out too! I see these folks advertising and marketing their IRL session availability during this as much as I see folks posting pics/vids/thoughts from their most recent (quarantine violating) sessions. It's also frustrating to see newly laid off/unemployed individuals turn to the fetish world as a new stream of income. This is one of those things that should be obvious without debate, but given the human race and how when you put more than two people in ANY situation, you are rarely going to get a unanimous point of view.

While it is true that the majority of deaths have been in 65+ years of age with underlying health conditions or "high risk", the number of deaths and complications below 65+ is not zero. It is LOWER, yes, but has still been occurring at a rate that should be considered alarming among any age or population. The idea that a younger person that would not be considered "high risk" is essentially "no risk" is, at best, irresponsible and at worst very dangerous. Has the media been somewhat to blame for some portions of this crisis? In terms of people panic buying entire aisles at the grocery store, and other uneducated overreactions, yes. Those orders weren't from the media, they are from the nations top health experts, infectious disease specialists, and your local and national leaders.

I think I must have rambled a bit too much with my post. I was actually agreeing with you and responding to the user in my quote who believes that it's not important for us to distance. Sorry for the confusion!

I know enough to know that while this virus is a hazard and needs to be dealt with the whole "one size fits all" way of dealing with it is not the way to go about it at this point. Infection rates differ from person to person, we know who is most susceptible to infection and things need to start opening back up slowly. I mean how do you explain the fact that Oklahoma didn't implement the whole state wide lockdown and they have one of the lowest infection rates out of all the states? Unless a person is older and/or immunocompromised, which you said you are so really the only person who should be staying in is you. there really is no reason right now things should still be closed. As for the numbers you posted about how long the virus lasts on surfaces, you are way off. Cardboard it lasts about 24 hours, metallic and glass surfaces 72 so I don't know where you got 14 days and whatnot.

Again, not to pick on you, but the "one size fits all" approach IS the correct way to deal with a virus that has mutated to a point that there is no herd immunity whatsoever. Again, infection RATES do not differ from person to person, severity and symptoms do. Some people who have tested positive have shown little to no symptoms, and others have died. Some people take up to 14 days to show symptoms, and others show within a few hours to a few days.

And to reemphasize, your thought that it should only be required to quarantine those that are "high risk", and exclude YOU is an incredibly selfish, short sighted and irresponsible way to think. If you don't agree with, or are frustrated with how things are at the moment, then that is perfectly understandable. But there is certainly a more constructive and empathetic way of expressing it without coming off like such an entitled brat.

Now no one wants to be in this lockdown. For starters I can't see my partner because we live in separate houses. I can't go into work, and do all the zillion other things outside the house that constitute my life. But do you know what tough bunny. There are tens of thousands of NHS workers currently putting their lives on the line going into work, knowing they haven't got adequate protective equipment. Some of whom (and they won't be the last) have already laid down their lives looking after others. So it's the least I can do is to stay indoors and not make the problems worse.
