If Family Guy was able to come back, why not Arrested Development?

The show is certainly popular enough. I mean, even firefly had a movie! Ron Howard needs to get his ass in gear and get this started up again!

My guess is that Michael Cera has moved on to bigger, but not better things.
 
Pretty sure they're making a movie.

And well they should, becuase the show should have NEVER been cancelled in the first place.

If America can watch 10 years of 'Friends', 12 of 'Frasier' and any amount of 'The Simple Life', surely there is space for AD.
 
I did forget about the movie. D'oh!

Oh well, a movie is all well and good, but I want the show back on the air. I want new episodes damnit!

Arrested Development was too a little to cerebral for a network, especially FOX; it should have been on HBO or even ShowTime, like Bored to Death and other such awesome fare :rainbow:

Agreed (Larry Sanders is a prime example). Hopefully one of the fine cable networks will realize this after the movie comes out and makes mass $$$ (kind of like what they're doing w/ Futurama).

I'm with Alchemy, I want new episodes!
 
Excellent show... Unfortunately, Michael Cera is the weak link.

Yes, there's a movie coming out, but Cera really seems to have gone the way of Adam Sandler.... financially successful, but draining pretty much all of his credibility and talent in the process....

May I ask what this statement is based on? 'Year One' was apparently a bad film ( I skipped it despite my affection for Cera and Jack Black), but everything I've seen Cera do has been very cool, I've enjoyed his work from 'Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist' to 'Juno'. I'm not arguing with you, I'm honestly asking what I missed that he ruined 🙂

^This. I don't understand the Cera hate either. Maybe it's overexposure, but Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, David Cross, and Tony Hale have been in more movies than Cera since the end of Arrested Development, and they've been in several stinkers too, some of them of the "Straight to DVD" variety. Why aren't they singled out?

Well, I'm just saying... I've literally hated everything he's done after Arrested Development. He seems to be pandering to the most trite part of the teen/college market, which again reminds me a lot of how Adam Sandler came to be so mediocre.

It's both overexposure and repetitiveness. Admittedly, Will Arnett and David Cross are pretty limited in their range as well, but with Will, he's very good at what he does. I was never much of a fan of Cross, but he plays Tobias very well.

Jason Bateman has the most range of the cast, and he has a certain charisma to him that is reminiscent of Aaron Eckhart. Eckhart is clearly a better actor, but Bateman is still pretty good in his own right.

With Michael Cera, it began with him playing a likable supporting character in a well written show, but his ability to play a lead seems pretty lacking in my opinion. Again, I can't deny that he's very popular and he sells well, but then again... so does Andy Samberg, and that guy is the most overrated one trick pony alive.
 
LOVE that show! my roommate dressed as tobias funke for halloween this past year. And yes, he blue himself.

DUDE! How can you hate on Superbad?! That was like the greatest movie ever! Cera was brilliant in that movie!

Also, don't forget the Bateman was in Teen Wolf Too.:punt:

You hated Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist and Juno? I found both films to be pretty unique with interesting and refreshing scripts, what didn't you like? And can you really compare them to Sandler teen fare like Billy Madison and Big Daddy? I just can't see that...

I just get tired of the nerdy guy schtick. Cera needs to expand his horizons some.
