Why "cyber tickling"??

I've been hearing recently about people who seem to enjoy "cyber tickling" - that is, tickling as part of online roleplay, without finger or feather ever touching flesh.

Can someone explain how this works, and why anyone would bother? I don't mean to criticize anyone's kink, but online tickling strikes me a lot like online wine-tasting.

He hit the nail on the head. Sometimes people just need their imaginations stimulated and it may be the moment where you can explore a fantasy without any problems. If at any time you feel uncomfortable, you can just sign off or leave and there's no harm done. Some people think it's pointless, and maybe it is. *shrugs* But hey, whatever floats your boat.

It depends on how tickle starved you are and what kind of mood you're in. Some people just like to role play period. I haven't done it in years. Some people are too demanding and want to hurry along and control the direction of the story just to get themselves off and then it's "thanks. buy." Maybe that's part of why I don't do it anymore but, I like to play and be imaginative in a situation like that and take it slow but, I don't like to do lots and lots of typing either and sometimes it truly can be boring. I get tired of things rather quickly anyway. I have to be pretty calm and relaxed to take part in that sort of thing but, I'm mostly too hyper for it. Like Vae said "Whatever floats your boat."

cyber tickling is okay... but thats about it. i personaly rather engage in phone tickling. its much more passionate and intense in my opinion. Nothing beats the real thing though.

Cybering is often a way for newbies to try it on. Also, until someone can actually do it, it serves as a way of coping in the meantime..nothing wrong with that at all. Also I have personally found it to be a way of a lee interviewing me for a potential meet. So there are many aspects to it.I do not mind cybering with someone from time to time, however nothing beats real time with a real lee that loves it!

Um, yeah. You know, with a bit of imagination a person might guess that I already understand the general concept. It's the particular application that I'm wondering about.

cyber tickling was great for me as i gradually became more active in the online tickling scene - first i did it under a false ID and then as i got less intimidated by forums such as TMF i gave it up and had the confidence then to be active under my actual ID and don't really have any need to cyber tickle, i have been asked but generally say no as i now have experienced how great proper tickling can be in real life

It's same idea I think here. Think of cyber as a variation on porn. Or rather, think of it as a form of interactive erotica.

I tried it early on, but tired of it quickly; I honestly have little interest for things like that now if it doesn't lead to something more substantial.

I really didnt used to be into cyber tickling when I first joined TMF. Over the past, I'd say, 18 to 24 mos, and especially in 2005, I've gotten more into it.
I agree with the others who have posted in this thread. Cybering is a fun way of acting out roleplay, without actually having to meet, and without strings attached. I havent done it as often recently as I did earlier in the year, but I can say that I have done it with girls who I consider just friends, and with one in particular who Iam interested in as more than a friend. Cyber can be many things, a good way to get out fantasies, playful, sexual, etc, and, this year, I have found it more fun then in the past.

P'S I will say one thing about cyber, at least for myself. For me, I enjoy cybering with people who I at least have a decent friendship with, and rapport, someone who I have talked to a lot, and knows about my life, and I know about theirs.

I can see that. I don't know how similar cybertickling is to cyberBDSM in general, but I know that most of the time in BDSM the folks with the most bad habits (the "on your knees, bitch" type of Dom, for example) learned those habits in chat rooms. It seems that not having to deal with people as though they were real brings out the worst in some.

Possibly cybertickling isn't prone to those things.

I think it's hard to be honest in this type of situation too. You don't really know what it's going to feel like. I've only been tickled sexually by one individual and I'm not stupid enough to assume what it'd be like if someone else were to do it. Cybering of any kind never makes much sense to me. I think it's ego stroking half the time, because, like others have mentioned, you can be whomever you want.

Sure, this shit is fun to think about it. I sit in the chatroom during my bored hours and just talk about it. That can be fun. I also talk about ridiculous dumb shit that no one cares about, but that's what I do in real life as well. If cybering is your thing, then cool, especially if you can find someone else who really digs it too. I've just noticed in the chatroom that you're either one or the other: you're there to get your licks or to find friends. Finding friends is my reason, especially now. I just don't think those two groups mix very well, so you get the PC bombings and my "anti-botism" lectures. 😀
