Why it is IMPERATIVE that we keep this secure chat

Well, as Myriads said in his post, we are 3/4 the way to the $600 we need to keep our chat. Thanks to all who have contributed. I feel it is important that we keep this secure chat if possible. Iam going to share a personal story about the old TMF chat that may be legendary, and that Myriads, the other mods, and those of us here since 2002 know about, but some people who joined after may not. This should serve as an inspiration.
One Sunday afternoon in October 2002, when I had been with the TMF for a little over a month, I had logged into the old unsecure room and began chatting with this girl. She was a new girl who I had never chatted with before, and although I always had asked age when talking to a new girl, on that occasion it must have slipped my mind. Somewhere in the conversation, the "girl" blurted out "Iam 17" and before I could log out and end the session, a screen name "ATTENTION" in capital letters pops up, and says Iam in trouble with the New Jersey division of Sex Crimes for talking to minors. The person just kept going on and on for about 15 minutes, telling me to get a lawyer, and basically scaring the living shit out of me. Not knowing what to do, I logged out, and confessed to my mom about TMF, because I really thought I needed to get a lawyer. A short time later, I had the opportunity to talk to Myriads, who informed me that ATTENTION was nothing more than a troublemaking troll who had in fact victimized others, including certain friends of mine whose names I will not mention for obvious reasons. After that day, I was extremely leery of who I talked to on TMF, until Myriads came up with this new secure password room which alleviated many of those issues. Those of you who werent here back then cant imagine the awful things that these idiot trolls would say to us. We would be chatting civily, most of us regulars, when suddenly a troll with a weird name would pop up and type the most vicious and horrible things in capital letters all over the screen, disrupting the chat for us serious chatters, and making the mods lives hell. While we are all aware that this forum isnt perfect, the secure room still gives us a large degree of protection from having the idiotic trolls disrupt our conversation every five minutes with the spewing, irrational, malicious chatter.
For those of us who are oldies, and do remember these incidents, we should try to contribute if we can to perserve this secure chat for ourselves, and the sake of the mods. For those of you who werent here then, trust me, you dont want to know what it was like, because it was like continued unpleasantness and abuse throughout the day, most days.
I hope you dont mind me telling this story again, Myriads. I felt is important for some of the newer chatters to understand just what it was like for all of us back then, mods and chatters alike. Iam thrilled that we have been able to raise 75% of the money, and I have tried to do my part by contriubting to the cause. I just felt it imperative to impress on all forum members, and especially newer chatters who joined us after this secure room was put in, how imperative it is that we keep this secure place, to avoid going back to the unpleasant abusive days of the trolls.

A sidebar to all this. I was also informed by the mods that in this case, the same troll posed as both the "cop" and underaged girl. Just thought it important to clarify that.

It was a lot easier with the previous version of the chatroom to login with multiple names at once... and with this version, you need to have an account at TMF, and login with your account name. Nobody thinks that this will keep cops from looking in on the chat; it's one extra countermeasure against trolls, and I can tell you flat-out that we haven't had 1/10 the troll problem that we had prior to this version of the chat being instituted since it's been in place. We had several regular trolls, then, who managed to screw around with any number of people repeatedly. The closest thing we've got to a troll now are people with legitimate accounts who seem to get off on giving other people baseless crap and insulting them with no real prior interaction.

the current room as a fact IS more secur, as people must register before they can come in ...there for you get far less trolls......addmitadly we do get trolls but they can be banned.
anyway the money has been made and we have the room for another year at least. so theres little worrie of you getting the same problem again mitchell. the likely hood of a policeman registering here and getting peolpe in trouble is very slim. Happy chatting.

Wuv to all.

The room is indeed more secure and has its good points, but dont be fooled into believing that there are no males posing as females and Vice versa.....

No room is 100 % secure and quite frankly the best way to avoid trolls in any chatroom is still by use of the ignore button...

I find it too cumbersome to keep up a conversation in a chatroom setting, so whether or not there is one is not imperative to me, though they serve their purpose for others....

Okay, let me be very clear about what I'm saying here. What I meant by my post was that we dont have the vicious spewing people who come in and out repeatedly each day. I know there are people posing as fake genders in ANY chat room. Iam sure that can happen anywhere. I wasnt even talking about fake genders and such. What I really meant was that we dont have people coming in and out every two seconds without registering and firing off the vile abusive rhetoric as in the last chat.

I'm with Ray!
The TMF chatroom (and anywhere else's for that matter) is one of the few places here I never venture into~though people are always trying to drag me in there. It's just too difficult for me~my wrists can't handle it either!
XOXO

To put plain facts here..it dont matter who you talk to in text, etc. The "real" undercover cops/feds so to speak trying to put an end to under age sex stuff, etc do not come out in text and start making threats! First off, most of em doing stuff like this on the internet look for child porn sites and of corse..chat areas where sickos would go to meet (in person) under age girls. They cant do jack for typing in text, would have to be a literal physical meeting and even then..some kinda sexual acts would have to take place before a bust would even go down.

Basicly what im getting at here is..dont get all freaked out by people (mainly lonely and disturbed people) on the net that feel they have to try to cause drama and crap. Cause the real people they try to be..would never even act in that mannor.

And to the other subject bout females really being males..unless I get a voice chat with someone, somehow..I dont really give them the time of day simply for that reason. Ok, thats my input😛

I can see your point, and I understand it. Please realize though that at the time, I was new to TMF, and really had never been inside any fetish chat before, so I didnt know that there might not be real cops watching the net, and what the consquences were about minors, if any. I see your point about the fake female thing. I try not to worry about that, but we all have our preferences. I figure if I ask gender, and someone tells me female. I go with it unless advised otherwise. If someone wants to play games and not be honest about gender and such, in my opinion it's their loss, because Iam being honest about who Iam. Just my two cents.

I totally agree with mitch, we must keep this room safe.

I remember the trolls well and myself and Angie were both victims of one of them

Thank you for your supportive comments, scribe. Iam sorry to hear that you were a victim of the trolls. I do recall them saying low and vicious things to Angie. Having endured the attacks of the trolls, you can relate to why I felt that keeping this room was so important. As Ray said, I know nothing is 100%, but I still stand by my theory that a password and ISP ID room is better then the old one. I'm glad we can keep this room for at least another year.

Mitch

I agree with you Mitch, but if EVERYONE would just ignore the idiots they would have nothing to feed on and they would whither and die...

Ray

You're right, Ray. Lately, I have began to click the ignore button in the chat with people who have caused me problems, instead of getting into it, and reporting everyone. The ignore button is a wonderful thing, as I then dont have to deal with people who are troublemakers.
By the way, please check your PM's when you get a chance. I left you a PM, and I would be curious to know your feedback of what I said. Thanks.
