Hi all

I am of course not referring to the UK football club...but the most wonderful of tennis tournaments.

Not long now - any early tips?

I have been enjoying watching some of the grass court tournaments over the last couple of days - Feliciano Lopez against Radek Stepanek was a real treat at Queens club in London.

Looking forward to some John McEnroe commentary and analysis too.

Not my cup of tea, I do enjoy drinking in the village during the tournament, usually a friendly atmosphere and nice Youngs pubs, so you know you can get a good beer.

I prefer the dogs myself, cheap night out, but the soccer team want to move back there..

Yes I once watched a World Cup game in a pub in the village after having spent the day watching the tennis. Can't remember the game but it was England and I think we won. Nice pub, on a t-junction if memory serves, at the bottom of a long straight hill.

Wimbledon????

Watch out for the Blancmange!

I would say Federer is a solid front runner, but he's been scuffling lately. My guess is either Djokovic or Murray will win, but until they reveal the main draw its hard to say

Ah, you Brits with all your pomp and ceremony! 😛

I'm tipping a Djockovic/Nadal final unless there's a complete wildcard that throws a spanner in the works. Maybe Wawrinka?

In the women's....Sharapova V Williams fo shiz.

I tend to agree with you here

Wonderful entertainment again today from Radek Stepanek, what a warrior.

The sportsmanship in his match against Djokcovic really puts the likes of Suarez and his chums to shame.

Just watched the Sharapova/Kerber match. What a great match!

On the other hand, I watched the drama unfold in the Williams' sisters doubles match. I have never been a fan of either of them, but to watch what Serena was going through was just plain odd AND scary. To see this great tennis player have all of the coordination of a 2 year old trying to bounce and catch a ball and then to see her serve. It was speculated that she was suffering from a virus. But coordination like that is akin to a diabetic reaction or a stroke. Scary stuff. Hope it is just a virus and she's back in competitive form soon.

Go to Yahoo and watch the footage of what I am describing. I would post a link but I am computer illiterate.

Yeah a bit of a crazy day today. I won a tenner on the Nadal match - wished I'd put a bit more money on it now! cracking stuff.

Sharapova should not be able to get away with the noise she makes, but I do like her and enjoy watching her.

going to an interesting last few days of the tournament!

NONE of them should "be allowed" to make "noises", while the ball is in play!!! I remember that it kind of started with Monica Seles in the '90's...and after a few matches...she was "asked" to "tone it down" or not do it at all!!! Now you hear almost everyone doing it!! (the women more so, I think)
And it seems most of them do it AFTER they've already hit the ball!!! (especially Sharapova)

Anyway...interesting tourney, so far!!! Men are kinda holding to form...but the women's side is wide open!!!

I was shocked to see Murray go down! I'll be rooting for Serena on the women's side and would like to see Federer win the Men's

I can't believe how many big names have fallen so far! The sharapova v Kerber match was amazing, such fight from both women. I'm rooting for Bouchard in the final, she's come such a long way so quickly a real star of the future that one!

I'm hoping dimitrov can knock out djokovic in the semi. I dislike both of them but the comprehensive win against Murray won dimitrov some brownie points with me. He's really turning it on at the right time. What a tournament!

yes I agree with the recent comments. I'd be pleased to see Dimitrov do well and beat Novak - he was very accomplished against Murray - Murray did not show the grit of a champion that I would expect to see to try to dig himself out of the hole

Bouchard I hope will win as I have got money on her!!

Roger is a pleasure to watch.

On the issue of noises, they don't make noises during practice so there should be big question over why it's so necessary after every shot.

I am a racket sports player and it's natural to grunt or make a noise when you really stretch for a shot, or put an extra bit of effort into running miles and then smashing it for example - the way you hold your breath as you run, the body is being stretched and then has to recover after the shot which can result in such a noise/deep breath, but it's become a habit somehow and needs to be addressed.

John McEnroe - fascination and brilliant commentary as always.
