5150, I once went to a costume party in FULL Jedi robes. After the party I decided to hit a local bar and said "what the fuck? why change?" You'd be amazed how much of a chick-magnet the whole thing actually was!
I think it is cool that you went to the bar after the costume party, and I'm not surprised that it attracted attention, but I would imagine the interest would often wane if you didn't have a good story for why you looked different (ex. costume party).
One summer a long time ago I dyed my hair an odd color, and I found it to be a great conversation starter. I had more luck with women that summer than in any other 3 month period of my life. I think that what it was was that it served as an icebreaker. It is hard to start talking to someone you don't know if you have no reason to talk to them..... the jedi robes and my odd hair are a great conversation starter. I think the key is to be a little weird, not a LOT weird when drawing such attention.
