This issue truly starts to have something I've been looking forward to literally since these characters were bouncing about in my head years ago. After our heroes find out that their ship, The Siren, has experienced a malfunctioning artificial intelligent, it is up to our intrepid space commander to figure out what went wrong and fix it. Jon and Yuri continue to be an amazing team together, merging together jaw-dropping, world building detail with incredible characters and tickling action. It is a gift to watch them do their thing, bounce ideas back and forth, and get truly excited about the end result. That passion is apparent in every detail, every panel, every angle and character model.

Hunted has quickly become one of my favorite tickling comic series of all time because of this. I hope you share our passion for quality comics!

Out in the depths of space, The Siren picked up a visitor.

That visitor ended up corrupting The Siren's A.I.

The A.I. went berserk, torturing the entire crew is some misguided quest for revenge.

Commander Candace, upon finding out what's happened to her ship, will face the corrupted A.I. alone.

How will the unbreakable Commander fare against Hera, the newly formed and corrupted artificial intelligence?

Hunted #5 video preview

Here is a video trailer for the comic, set to release in two weeks. Enjoy 🙂

Breast tickling sounds good to me, though I'm hoping to see the Commander's feet tickled too. They look so good in that cover art, it'd be a huge missed opportunity if they're left untouched.

Unless the Commander's torture lasts two issues? That'd be awesome!

Well, now, there is something to be said about extended tickle torture scenes...

I'm a big fan of them!

Sorry for the delay, we ran into some nasty technical difficulties this last week that barely got resolved by release time.

At any rate, the issue is now available 🙂

Thanks very much. Glad you enjoyed it. 🙂

This issue certainly saw the fulfillment of many of our fans' desires regarding Candace. It's always exciting to pay off these sorts of build-ups, with the hope that it will be satisfying to the fans as well. When writing the script, I didn't want Candace's experience to be random, but to have it fit in to Candace's character. Like many good sci-fi ship captains, Candace puts her responsibility to her crew first, and this issue's plot gave us a real opportunity to showcase that. We also get some small explanation on how Ace (the villain) has been able to elude detection in such an advanced society, which was a fun idea to work with.

I hope folks enjoy this issue. It's the start of a harrowing story arc for Candace. 😉

Christmas is likely optimistic, given our other releases lining up. But the next issue is definitely in the works, that's all I want to divulge at this point.

The start? You mean you're not taking it easy on our poor, brave space captain? Oh, the shame, the horror!

I'm sure she'll bounce back.

Wouldn't Hunted be better with Hand drawn art?

That is a great question. One that I ask of all our comic lines constantly, with each subsequent issue: how can I increase the quality of this comic line while continuing to deliver value to our customers?

So with that line of thought, I had a crossroads at Hunted #1. I had the full copy in my hand, hand drawn, lettered, ready to publish (not many people know this). I looked at it, thought it looked ok, there was certainly nothing wrong with it. But there was a certain intensity I wanted to bring to this line that the hand drawn version lacked. I wanted to take a risk. We had never published anything CG before, because I didn't feel the technology was there to deliver a product that raised the bar of our production quality.

However, one day I was cruising dA, and I came across these two pieces:
http://yurihausen.deviantart.com/art/I-know-Kung-Fu-313749862
http://yurihausen.deviantart.com/art/Bot-Fu-315012718
I looked at these pieces for a long time, and studied the use of lighting, the posing, the setting up of the scene. It was very stylized, and looked like a mix between traditional hand drawn artwork, and CG. I thought it looked great. And best of all, it was created by someone who clearly "got it." And he's a foot guy. That's a very big relief, as it's something I don't have to keep reminding him through the series. In the beginning, Yuri, Jon, and I had very lengthy discussions about the uncanny valley effect and how it would relate to this production. In fact, I didn't even know the uncanny valley was a thing, Yuri brought that to my attention that it had a technical term. I just knew from basic human psychology we are trained to be attracted to pieces of fantasy. When presented with something that is pseudo realistic, the brain will immediately begin picking it apart and telling us all the reasons it isn't real, which prevents us ultimately from enjoying it. While I understood some can never get past the uncanny valley effect enough to enjoy these books, I found the end product to be amazing so I fully support Yurihausen on this comic line as long as he enjoys doing the artwork for us.

He's an incredible talent, and I feel very fortunate he's creating incredible art for both the community and our production team. Hunted is a beautiful piece of science fiction, and the icing on the cake is that is happens to be a tickle torture comic book, as well.

So to answer your question directly, in this set of facts and circumstances, no I do not believe Hunted would be better with hand drawn art.

I've received several notes asking about the release date of Hunted #6 and I have good news and bad news.

The bad news is that I've bee leading everyone astray and indicating we would release it April. The good news is that it will be released far, far sooner than. February 27th is the release date, to be exact. Can't wait 🙂

YAAAAAYYYY!!!!

YAAAAAYYYY!!!!

Indeed. Weird oversight on my part. But between recruiting and being in half a dozen simultaneous productions, I get a little loopy on where each one is sometimes.

Glad it was good news for you!

Of course! Even better news would be a promo page for the upcoming issue. 🙂

Great idea. The issue is now officially finished, so promo pics to follow when I make the Hunted 6 thread. Thanks for the suggestion 🙂

We'll have to thank you then
