YENNY RETURNS to MTJ Publishing! *12/23/2010

Given the sour retrospection this otherwise-stellar and awesome news has received, perhaps the entire situation is best summarized in a new phenomenon I've just coined:

The Ozzy Retroactive Instability: when creating specialty/niche/fetish works, never use your flagship character; it will make any format changes easier for everyone involved: publisher, consumer, and most especially you. When in doubt, try reversing the titular character's name for the fetish version.

The Ozzy Potentiality: make sure your character's name isn't a palindrome so backwards spelling will work.

There. Now hopefully we can all avoid future recurrences of this and move on.

It's priced this way because it's been one of the most sought after publications you couldn't find. Almost a decade of it being blacklisted means that when it does get released, you'll pay a premium for it.

If it didn't have that place in tickling art history, of course. But it's pretty high shelf, as far as that goes.

I don't think this is an excuse. I just bought the No Mercy part 1, and I really feel ripped off. Don't get me wrong, it's a good comic - but it was a measly seven pages! Compare this to BAC publications or other quality material. Not only this, but they packed it up by adding five pages of ads so the thing looked longer!

At the very least, No Mercy 1 and 2 should be bundled together. I won't be buying another Yenny comic at these prices.

Let me clear a few things up.

On the product page for No Mercy Part 1 & 2 under ITEM FEATURES you are given a desciption of the comic's contents. For example...

Item Features
◦40+ Comic Panels!
◦Zissy the Hairless Kitty!
◦7 pages in all + Cover!
◦/f Tickling!

As you can see the page count is not padded, in fact we don't even include the cover as part of the page count nor do we include the ads.

About the price of No Mercy Part 1 & 2

The price of these comics is the same price Yenny monthly subscribers purchased the comics for back in 2002. In fact the price for non-subscribers was $11.95 and the same is true for all six issues of Yenny Ticklish Adventures and The Barefooted Agent. Additionally cover art was added for this release for all nine of these comics.

Happy Holidays!

MTJ Publishing Pricing…

I would just like to add one final note on pricing.

We set our prices with the goal of making it worth the artist/authors investment of his or her time and also so that we can continue to grow and succeed as a company.

It is this philosophy that has allowed us to produce over 260 publications over the past 11+ years. It has also enabled us to share hundreds of free art images and works of tickling fiction with the community during this time as well. Additionally the vast majority of our artists and authors not only come from this community but are also active participants and contributors of free material as well.

In these past 11 years no one involved at MTJ Publishing has become rich publishing tickling material. Until a couple of years ago I could honestly make the claim that my yearly profits did not match that of a minimum wage earner and while that has improved it has not improved dramatically.

I do this because I am a fan of tickling art and fiction and I love working with the many talented authors and artists that have come to know over the years.

I appreciate the support of our customers because without you none of this would have ever been possible.

Happy Holidays

Does any of them involve any magical tickling? Like maybe Yenny is sawn in half by a magician and then her feet are tickled?

This is all fair enough, but I content that if you make something prohibitively expensive that you lose repeat customers.

For instance, due to my opinion that $10 was too much for a 7-page comic (that represents half a story), I won't be buying another. However, if parts 1 and 2 were bundled together for $14 or something, then I don't think I'd feel ripped off. I also won't be buying more.

I could be convinced to buy more if the value was better. I did enjoy the comic and would love to see the second half, but given that the second half is even shorter (only 30 panels) I certainly can't justify paying $10 for it.

Conversely, I am the opposite and hope you keep your prices exactly where they are.

Looking at the list of items, let's see...

Simply Yenny July 2003, $14, 24 pages including cover. I don't count the cover, so let's divide $14 by 23, and you get, what, 60 cents a page? That's a fair price to me.

Yenny Comic (July 2001), $14, 26 pages including the cover. Again I don't count the cover, so lets divide $14 by 25 and that's 56 cents a page. Again, seems fair, and that's not even getting into how many panels are on each page.

The ones that are $10, those are the ones that are 5-8 pages. Doing the math here, that's $2 per page for a five page book, $1.60 per page for a six page book, $1.42 per page for a seven page book, and $1.25 per page for an eight page book. These prices don't seem that bad and again seems fair given the content and rarity of it.

Looking through the whole list, I found one $10 one that is *14* pages (including the cover), so that's even more bang for your buck. I don't think you can beat these prices to be honest with you. Unless someone is expecting tickling to be on every single page, which I for one don't (I'm assuming Oz is going to be telling some sort of story to explain why the tickling is occurring), then maybe I can understand it. But when you break down the prices per page it seems fine to me.

Ten dollars for one of these is a reasonable price. It's in line with the value of other publications. It's also, to be frank, undervalued as a result of its rarity and because of the sexual content within it.

I just wanted to say that MTJPub sent me a PM and explained things further, and I greatly appreciate that.

Thanks a lot everyone. It really is a good comic.

I've found over the years that MTJ is a real class act and is willing to work with his customers to help meet their needs. Product asside, this is one of the many reasons i continue to buy his products.

Yenny is a [cartoon] Puerto Rican chick with blue hair and size 24 feet. She always finds herself in ticklish predicaments.

Ohhhhhhh. 🙄

Yes he is. Great guy , that MTJ.

After going through each of the Yenny comics I did not find anything along those lines.

I apologize for my delay in answering this question.

Thank you!

I would like to add an "amen" to this. I've often marveled at the fact that MTJ can bring us such an amazing wealth of products with such small profit margins. Only someone who truly loved their work would continue to soldier on for so long. We're truly lucky to have him, and it's no coincidence that he is one-of-a-kind in the community. You may say (and accurately, I admit) that I am not a wholly impartial party, but I can only answer that I am proud to contribute in my own way to the phenomenon he has helped create. Three cheers for you, Jim!

Truer words have never been spoken, K!

Yeah, I've got to agree with the sentiments echoed on this thread. I always admired MTJ for their sensational products and outstanding customer service as a big fan of tickle art. And now that I've had a chance to get to know Jim and work with him as one of the many artists and writers in the MTJ bullpen, I have to say that he really is one in a million.

Jim, you treat everyone with respect and professionalism...you are there for your customers and your contributors anytime and ALL the time...and you continue to put out title after title of wonderful tickle art and fiction.

Thank you for all that you do for this community and for all that you have done for me.

And congrats again to you and Ozzy both for re-releasing that adorable blue-headed beauty that's tickled her way into our hearts. The tickle world is much brighter with Yenny in it again.

Hooray for more Yenny!!!

More.

MORE!

MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAR!!!!!!!!

Happy New Year,

The Incognito Deeto

You're awesome, Oz. I'm so very glad your back, so that can all enjoy your masterful tickle art once again. I'm SO looking forward to finishing up Sonya 2 with you, and have really loved working with you on this series. I already have some devious ideas for Sonya 3. Heh heh.

Wishing you a tremendously wonderful 2011. It has GOT to be better than 2010 for all of us. XD

Truly truly happy you're back on the TMF, amigo. This community is definitely lucky to have you.

Your pal,

Greetings folks,

One of the great perks of working in this genre is having cool new art and stories show up in my mail box on a semi-regular basis and today I discovered in my mail a brand new comic fresh out of the oven from Ozzy Studio!

Included with the comic was a message from Ozzy asking me to share it with the community and reiterate how thankful he is for all of you that helped make Yenny’s re-release at MTJpub.com a great success.

Thanks to all of you!
