My vote goes to 9don't laugh) Kelly Clarkson's "Since You've Been Gone," The Killers "Mr Bright Side" (don't care for the other one that's out) and the new tunes by Rob Thomas and Duran Duran (who still sound every bit as good as they did in the "old days!")
Your turn! :xpulcy:

XOXO

Favorite guilty pleasure song is the hiphop song "girlfight". The only time in my life I've ever hit anyone out of anger was in a situation like that and it makes me laugh now. In hindsight I should have let her have him but c'est la vie.

But realistically, the new stuff by Rob Thomas is genuis. THat boy's got some skills.

The Killers album Hot Fuss was released in the UK before the US - which is crazy beacue they're an American band. They are one of the most exciting indie bands going and whilst Mr Brightside is probably my favourite as well, Somebody Told Me is regarded by most as their biggest song, although many of the songs on that album are great. interestingly there is a difference between the UK and US versions of the album. I don't think the US version has the song Glamorous Indie Rock n' Roll, although I think it has something else instead.

However, my absolute favourite song of the moment is Stereophonics - Dakato, from their best-selling album Violence, Language, Sex, Other? Coldplays latest song - the fastest selling download - is also massive and i rather like the new Oasis song - Lyla. I'm also just getting into Oasis - Masterplan, and the Oasis version of I am the Walrus is awesome. I also can't get over the magnificence of Eric Clapton's Layla. Anything by the Beatles or any of the early stuff from Oasis is guaranteed to get me singing out of tune in no time at all!

I almost squirted milk out of my nose, Steph! Ho ho ho hee hee! Just kidding. I'm sure Kelly Clarkson will one day be this generation's Barbra Streisand. Blah-hah-hah!!!There goes that milk again!

Seriously, I just bought a whole bunch of Electric Light Orchestra CDs. "Face The Music" has a song called "One Summer Dream" that is absolutely beautiful... sounds like something George Harrison might have written. ELO were influenced by the Beatles, you know. "Fire On High" is another excellent track. I could go on and on but Steph is pointing at her watch. Stay tuned for more replies from other people.

There is one particular ELO song that I like above all others. I think its called three little diamonds. I would love to be able to hear that song again.

Oops! Its actually called four little diamonds. I just googled it.

What a coincidence! I'm listening to "Strange Magic: The Best Of The Electric Light Orchestra" right this very second! Guess what song is on disc #2? "Four Little Diamonds"! This is a great collection! "Livin' Thing" is playing now!

I was going to start a similar thread, except with a different twist. I may do it anyway!

I'm sorry Steph, but I can't stand that Kelly Clarkson song. It makes me just want to hurl!! I like her "breakaway", but that's pretty much-it!

Songs I do like are:

Alicia Key's Karma
Fantasia- "Truth Is"
Rob Thomas' Lonely No More
Maroon 5 "Sunday Morning"
One of my faves is Black Eyed Peas-"Let's get it Started". It's gotten me through many a miserable workout! :jester:

:jester: kis!

No OLD songs allowed gang~new stuff only!
XOXO,
Me (who has everything Oasis and ELO ever did!) 😉

Aw, Steph... you know how much of a Classic Rock freak I am! The only new CDs I listen to are newly released Greatest Hits packages by old bands.

A friend of mine played me a CD by a group called Coldplay. I can't remember any of the song titles but I liked a few of the songs. I probably won't buy the CD because I've got my eye on something by Jethro Tull. Today's music frightens me.

I've been listening to the new albums that just came out by Beck, Tori Amos, The Chemical Bros., and New Order. Several good songs are off of each, but my all-time favorite song has got to be "Lady with the Spinning Head" by U2.

I have been listening to more country lately since the guy I am working with loves country and I really like Montgomery Gentry's Gone. I think it is really catchy and is an awesome song.

I have several favorites that I listen to now. (I'll probably get some razzing for my choices, as some are old)

"Dancing in the Moonlight"-King Harvest from 1973
"Bad Moon Rising"- CCR
"Cruel To Be Kind"-Nick Lowe- from the 80s.
"Kiss Me" Sixpence None The Richer.
"These are Days"-10,000 Maniacs

Sometimes my favorites change from year to year, but I always like music from The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, and Billy Joel, but the songs I listed are ones I listen to a lot now.

Mitch

right now my favorite songs are:

Rich Girl by Gwen and Eve
If I ain't go you by Alicia Keys
Boulevard of broken dreams and American Idiot by Green Day

"Cold" by Crossfade - I am totally OBSESSED with that song!

Also currently loading my player with:

"Mr. Brightside" and "Somebody Told Me" by The Killers
"Signs" and "Lets Get Blown" by Snoop Dogg
"Mr. Lonely" by Akon
"Holiday" and "American Idiot" by Green Day (love BOBD too, but getting sick of it now...they over play it!)
"Caught Up" by Usher
"If I Die Tomorrow" by Motley Crue
"Beverly Hills" by Weezer
"Candy Shop" by 50 Cent
"Switch" by Will Smith
"Don't Phunk With My Heart" by Black Eyed Peas

Hmmm....that's all I can think of at the moment. I was thoroughly enjoying "Karma" by Alicia Keys for a while too, but after I played it 10 times a day for a month, I kinda wore it out...LOL. That hasn't happened with "Cold" by Crossfade yet. I've been listening to that song about 10-20 times a day for 4 months or so now, and I'm STILL obsessed with it! :upsidedow

...... sorry ..... I , too , am pretty much listening to older stuff right now ( there isn't too much "new" music that does it for me these days ) ....... I'd say the song that has me at the moment is Led Zeppelin's "That's The Way" from Led Zeppelin III ....... it's a beautiful song that for some reason makes me want to cry every time I play it (sniff) .....

No prob TKLMAN...I just wanted to do something a little bit different, musically speaking that is...
It's cool how everybody's tastes are so different I think... :grouphug:

XOXO

It's typical for American bands to release their albums in the UK or elsewhere for the US. I know *NSYNC and Backstreet Boys (sorry, I was part of the teenybopper crowd and had been obsessed with them) released their albums in Europe to get a feel of how people like their music before they released their albums in the US. That way if they bombed, Americans would never hear of them. 😀

For my selection of favorite songs of the moment are:
1) "Don't Phunk With My Heart" by the Black Eyed Peas
2) "Beautiful Soul" by Jesse McCartney
3) "We Belong Together" by Mariah Carey
4) "Don't" by Shania Twain
5) "How Do You Get That Lonely?" by Blaine Larsen (which I think is the absolutely wonderful because of the message he's sharing. A classmate of mine in school had committed suicide in 9th grade. It was terrible and very sad. 🙁 )

I also like that particular song Steph, but my current fav (latest fav) is "Live like you were Dying" by Tim Mcgraw....which is extremely emotional to me since my beloved aunt Millie (whom I've been a caregiver for the past three years) was recently diagnosed as terminally ill (why I haven't been around this forum much in recent weeks 🙁

A couple other favs of mine currently are "Suds in the Bucket" by Sara Evans and "Sweet Southern Comfort" by Buddy Jewell 🙂

Perry~I couldn't PM you. I'm so sorry to hear about it (and Traci!) :cry1: Are you ok?

XOXO

My favorite "NOW" songs are "Sunday Morning" by Maroon 5
"How far from Heaven" by Los Lonely Boys"
"Live like you were dying" by Tim McGraw
"What a Wonderful World" Rod Stewart
"While my guitar gently weeps" Jeff Healy Band
Anyone that hasn't heard that rendition of the song should check it out. It is the best remake of any song I ever heard
I must be getting old....not a head banger in the bunch!!

Older songs...maybe another post

I'm okay Steph....it's been a very stressful couple months, but I'm okay. Aunt Millie was diagnosed as being terminally ill in early April.....Traci and I were having problems in our relationship weeks earlier (and to some extent, since the Christmas holidays).

Thanks for your kind thoughts Steph....and for caring 🙂
