Ever felt like your station in life was threatened? Or even better, that you are not happy with said station? Every single stitch of bullshit we use to justify why we do the things we hate, the things that upset us to our very core...we accept for creature comforts. We accept mediocre, unfulfilling jobs because of our bills. We stick with them because it becomes more acceptable to squander ourselves for televisions, for fast food, for video game consoles, and for trips to see people all across the country. We believe in religion, and if we don't do that, we believe in some form of society that posits the retrograde dogma of religion in another guise (sports, for instance).
There was a time where I would stand on a soapbox and cry about my generation being lost in the shuffle, that we are powerless in the current of big business and a slumping economy. That, you know, we end up slinking off to unsatisfying jobs because we must.
How about this; stop having a pity party and stop settling? How about you go out and fight for what you want? Rather that being a simpering bunch of children, how about you do the things you say you wish to do? How about rather than sitting on your fatass and beg for acceptance, you cut a rift where the thoughts of others don't bother you because you look in the mirror before you go to bed and can accept the person you are without fault?
On that night of change in Grant Park, Obama looked all of us in the eye and told us that we would have to fight for our future, that we would have to work hard to put our world back into place. And as I nodded my head, I saw legions of those sycophants who had taken a man's message of change to mean whatever suited them best. They'd heard the man speak but never what he said. And at this time, this is as apparent as ever.
For those of you who can't be assed to remove yourselves from the escapism surrounding your lives, fuck you. From the bottom of my heart. Fuck you. You leech off the promise of this nation, you posit yourselves as above when you are nothing but broken mutants who have no true ambitions, no true desires. You want health care reform but you won't fight for it. You want to go back to school but you don't do a goddamn thing to look into it. You are lazy, and you are what needs to be removed from the political process because your complete ambivalence to that which surrounds you allows people to steal this country from its founding principles.
You can't compromise with animals. And you can't rile up the truly dispirited. So fuck you. Go back to your smart phones and celebrity worship. Go back to your false friendships and your deep fried comfort food. Where many would say "I await your arrival on the other side when you grow up", I'll not expect you...because if we are going to take America back, you blights aren't going to do any of the heavy lifting.
