Child forced to kill hamster due to bad grades.

That's just disgusting and awful. To harm/kill an innocent animal because she was pissy about her son's grades? What kind of mother would traumatize her child like that?

And she was a daycare provider at one time? :facepalm:
 
Awful and disgraceful! Uh, if the bitch was angry about her son's grades, how about maybe... taking the hamster away from him for a period of time, and caring for it herself, or, placing it in the care of a relative for a period of time?

Two cruelties here: To harm a poor defenseless animal for no reason, and to traumatize her child like that.

I hope they lock her up for a while, and keep her kids away from her.

I don't know. I am gonna reserve judgement. Something doesn't connect here with me. Seems like some of the story is missing from that short article.

You know what! Some people just make me sick. Anything to do with a child in this manner makes me want to call for the death penalty. Our government has fogotton our youth. Parents need to embrace their children. This is insanity and it is not a punishment, it is child abuse. Not to mention the death of an innocent animal that never got a bad grade in its life.

I'm kind of thinking the same thing, but I guess there's always the possibility that the kid is lying and just chose to do the smashing completely of his own volition.

Granted, I don't think that's the case.

Just to let you know, female hamsters are not wuvable. Female hamsters are amongst the most brutal creatures alive; I've seen the results of two being put in the same cage. (just a few bits of fur survived)
 
I kinda agree with kered, on the missing info bit. Maybe it was a stupid publicity stunt. Who knows. But if it happened the way it was described, then may she be locked up with the key thrown away.

I remember having to help butcher chickens as a kid, but they weren't pets, they were food. A pet is different. I'm sitting here trying to imagine even insinuating doing the same thing to squidlett and I just can't. We have a little mini zoo, her main interest is her pets. Just the idea of making her hurt her little friends makes my skin crawl.
I take into consideration however kids often enjoy telling shocking stories just to get a reaction from someone, especially if they're the kind of kids that thrive off getting attention whether positive or negative. When squidlett was younger, she once told a neighbor she was hungry and I hadn't fed her in two days. Luckily my neighbor knew better. When I asked her why she said that she just said "I was hungry, and I thought if I told her I hadn't eaten in 2 days she might give me some ice cream or something". So with that said, what are the chances this kid told his teacher a story just to get a reaction and turn her attention to him?
If she did do this, it's downright disgusting, but I guess I'd have to see a dead hamster with a hammer print first to fully believe it.
 
Has she been found guilty yet? Is there any evidence besides her son's word? What's her testimony? Did her son even have a pet hamster?

I agree with Kered, there's too much missing from this story, like any investigation at all.
