Unfair Moments In Elementary School

Did you ever experience a really unfair moment when you were a kid? Elementary school is difficult when you don't really know how to get your point or opinion across without being seen as a kid with an attitude. It can be frustrating as well because adults look at you as just a "kid" who really has no opinion, especially when within the confines of school! I just wondered what your unfair moments were?

For me I have a good example.

When I was in third grade we were given a tray with a chicken leg, mashed potatoes, apple sauce, and a bread roll. I mixed my mashed potatoes and apple together in one bowl (which I still do to this day 😀) and proceeded to put it between my roll to make a sandwich!

One of the teachers on cafeteria lunch duty came over and said "You like to play with your food so much? I am going to stand here until you eat all of your sandwich. Wasting food is bad...blah blah.."

So I proceeded to eat it without a second though and she asked me "So how did it taste?"

So being a kid I was honest and said "It tasted really good, I love eating it that way."

She said I was giving her an attitude and gave me silent lunch for two days! What an unfair moment 😡
 
Well I remember in REALLY early elementary school I used to get beat up all the time! Literally if I stepped one foot on the playground a mob of at least ten kids used to chase me down, gang up on me, smack me around, push me to the ground, drop-kick me in the ribs, and NO ONE ever did anything to stop it!

Oh and one of these kids tried to pull the fire alarm as a joke and I got blamed, and one of them locked me outside the school so I couldn't get back inside (And this was in the downtown Burbank/Hollywood/Los Angeles area at the time.)

Everyone seemed to hate me when I was five for some reason.
 
not to many i can really think of except for the time I had my nose busted for drinking out of the "wrong water fountain" at recess.
 
I had to put up with one of my teachers making racist remarks towards me because she couldn't pronounce my surname.

In hindsight, what a ****.

Just hearing that ticks me off! 😡 Ugh, it was things like this that made me hate childhood! I had similar experiences in Catholic school, mostly from Kindergarten to 3rd grade. One particular instance that I vaguely remember involved the entire class getting cupcakes for some reason, and I wasn't there. I think I was sick. Anyway, some faculty member made sure I got some cupcakes when I came back, but my Kindergarten teacher wouldn't let me eat them during class. They just sat on my desk until I could take them home at the end of the day. At some point, a boy and a girl who didn't like me put crayon sharpener shavings on my cupcakes, and tried to convince me that they were sprinkles, thinking I was dumb enough to believe them (as they were talking to each other in front of me about what they did. Five year-olds aren't the brightest crayons in the box! 😉 ) The teacher, who had it out for me, caught the three of us arguing, and when we were all questioned, I don't remember the details of the story, except that she believed the other two kids, called me a "fibber", accused me of putting the crayon shavings on my own cupcakes, and sent me to the office.

I was a bold little kid in Kindergarten, and I frequently argued with my teacher, because I thought she was a dumb, smelly old lady I had no respect for. I didn't settle down til about 3rd grade, where we had a nun teach us, who had the meanest reputation in the entire school. We were all scared shitless of her before we even got to 3rd grade! She used to yank our hair, jerk us around by our shirt collars, smack us in the head with her grade book, hit older kids in the head with the Bible... To this day, she's the most physically rough 80+ year-old woman I've ever known!

Stories like this are what make me believe one needs to go through and pass the not a bitchy bitchy hoebag test to become a teacher. People like that are all miserable and going to make everyone else miserable too.

As far as stories myself. I have TONS! One i remember specifically was having the back of my head repeatedly slapped by the kid behind me. Naturaly after being hit for a few minutes i halled off and belted the kid right in the face. Who got in trouble? ME! What was i told... "You shouldn't have retaliated. Just ignore them."

I think that's the guy who plays Dexter, a character from the series of the same name about a serial killer, who's some forensics cop, who only kills other serial killers and never gets caught.
 
I went to elementary school back in the 70's in racist Atherton, CA.. Kids would sabotage my lunch, spill my drinks, call me racist names and pick on me because of my hair and skin color. Since I stood up for myself, I would always get into fights and get repeatedly sent to the Principal's office. They figured I was the one causing all the problems. It was a load of shit.

Funny thing... for me it was the exact opposite, but it was at Day Care and not Elementary School... Anyways, one of the kids shoved me for whatever reason, and I looked at the woman watching us, expecting her to tell the kid off as she was sitting right next to us... She just looks back at me and goes: "What are you staring at me for? HIT HIM BACK!" :shock:

There's your difference though. Daycare not teacher. All daycare people are being paid to do is watch you. They don't care who beats the fuck outta who because it's not on them at all.

Ah well, at least I managed to really freak her out later on by giving detailed explanations of human anatomy. I don't remember any of that now, but I was extremely curious about such things as a child, and knew exactly how the heart worked, etc.

...now where's that dexter-pic when you need it? 😛

This is EXACTLY why family takes care of my son while we work. Why would I pay a stranger for this?
 
When I was in 1st grade I took 2 caterpillars in to school for show and tell (what a lame show and tell, right?). Anyway, I did my show and tell thing, and then I asked my teacher if I could set them free out the window. She said no, which made sense considering we were on the third floor, and that I could set them free at recess. Well, recess came and I couldn't find my caterpillars anywhere! The container I brought them in was gone. We looked all over, but couldn't find them. I was so upset 🙁

Fast forward a few weeks, and guess what we found -- my fucking caterpillars, in the container, DEAD, in the piano seat :xlime: This little bastard, Edward, put them in there to hide them from me, and I guess he forgot about them and they died in there. I was absolutely devastated!

Not really "unfair" exactly, but traumatic nonetheless.
 
We were meant to have sole control of our six grade Cake Stall. Fuck the teachers and parents who conspired against us.

Heh, so my squidlett isn't the only one who takes bugs to school. She had a pretty neat caterpillar/worm thing in a little plastic cup that she carried around everywhere until some twerp on her bus decided to grab it and smash it in front of her. Of course this led to my 3 hour bug hunt the following saturday that yeilded few results save a couple weird looking beetles.
Of course I know now to make sure she keeps her bug collection at home.
 
Oh good lord the stories I could tell. One in particular comes to mind from when I was in first grade. I had a best friend whom I spent alllll of my time with. Since we were good buddies and she was the wee one of the class, I looked out for her. One day I saw a girl in class who had taken her art project (a Christmas tree she had drawn) and was dangling it above her head so she couldn't reach it. My first grade anger reflex reacted and I stood up, matched right over, and snatched it right out of the girl's hand to try to give it back...

...except it ripped right in half. I wasn't really quite sure what to do, so I set it down, as did the other girl, and we just went back to our seats. When the teacher came back from whatever she was doing, she saw the ripped picture and asked her, "Who did this?" My friend pointed right at me. I was marched with the other girl to a separate empty room where we were yelled at military style for a length of time that I can't quite pinpoint. At this juncture I was just a mess of tears. In my mind then, I was not only getting yelled at, but was in a separate room with the teacher standing right over me doing it. I must be a horrible friend and person for ripping it for one, and must be even worse to have this happen. Then she took me to the office and I had to call home and explain to my mom as best I could why I was calling home. My teacher dialed and handed me the phone and said, "Now you tell your mother WHAT YOU DID." So in shakes and sobs from what I can remember, this is what was said:

"H-h-h-h-i m-m-m-m-mommmmm."

"Hey baby, what happened?"

"W-w-w-wellllll, we were d-d-d-doing t-these dr-drawings in cl-class and um...and ummm Hailey t-t-t-ook Kendra's drawing-ng, and...and wouldn't let her h-h-have it. S-s-so I went o-over and took it ba-baaaaaack. And...and it ripped."

Past that, I can't remember what else was said on the phone or what my teacher said to me. But she marched me right back to class and then plopped me down right in my seat when the room was super quiet and everyone stared as I came back in. I remember being horribly self conscious and deeply ashamed of myself for how I looked and how much trouble I was in.


Fastforward to a few years ago, I was teaching an art camp with a handful of other instructors. One woman was an art teacher for elementary students and so we all felt right away she would be the person to consult for how to teach and react to these kids. That is until she opened her mouth. Everyone else continued to listen to her and find how she treated the kids quite acceptable, but she was the kind of bitch I HATE as a teacher. One of the little girls in the program was walking over to ask me for some art supplies she needed. Her shoe bumped into the woman's chair that she was sitting in.

The woman replied, "Um EXCUSE ME. Do you think you could maybe watch where you're walking and not run into my chair? You keep doing it and I find it really annoying. THANKS." And as a kid, what can you possibly say to that? It was EXTREMELY bitchy, but if you argue back, you're the kid that's an asshole that causes trouble. All she could do was look at her, then look down and walk away. Good lord some people need some mental help intervention.

I remember hearing about stuff like this happening all the time in school. It's almost as if the Teacher was so pissed that you actually stumped them that they have to punish you for it. It's stupid. :sowrong:

Thank you all for responding to my thread! I have two more stories!

When I was in elementary school in our cafeteria we had this stoplight that stayed on green if the noise level was "appropriate" but went to yellow if it got too loud and then if it went to red it made this LOUD screechy noise and everyone had to stay quiet for three minutes.

Well it went red once and I swear I was just sitting there, eating from my tray and I felt a hand on my shoulder. Turns out it was the new vice-principal (who was a BITCH by the way, my mom has worked at that school for over 30 years and even agrees she was the worst, bitchiest vice-principal ever!)

She was glaring down at me and said "What exactly did you say?"

I was totally confused and was like "What? I didn't say anything?"

Well she accused me of lying and made me sit at the silent lunch table for the remainder of the lunch period. The worse part was I had to stand up with my tray while the quiet three minute time was still going on and EVERYONE watched as I was marched unfairly to the silent table 🙁.

My second story was when I was in kindergarden and I built a castle out of Legos. This little asshole named Thomas came over and kicked it down! I was really pissed. He proceeded to grab my Legos and start building his own structure. Really pissed off I went over, kicked his down, and was caught by the teacher. I had to sit in the time out corner for ten minutes over that. Of course I was the one to be caught 😀.
 
I went to catholic school. That's pretty much all that really needs to be said, but it gets worse. By second grade I was a self admitting atheist. Telling the nun who's also your teacher that you really don't need to go the the church portion of the class day, because your an atheist, and should instead go home.........doesn't go over so well.....
 
My senior year, I cut class a lot. I already had enough credits to graduate, had already been accepted in the college of my choice, and was getting honor roll, not to mention I only had two classes a day and one of them was gym.

One day I was called down to the dean's office because I had three unexcused absences. I told the dean to just call my mom and it would all be sorted out, but she proceeded to lecture me and write me an in-school suspension. She asked me how I was going to get into college and I informed her that I already had. Then she said something about how I was never going to amount to anything, which I found really uncalled for. I mean, I was a senior with good grades and a few months away from graduating. She didn't have to go all after school special on me. I said if what she said was true and that I wasn't going to amount to anything, that I could always just become a high school dean. That shut her up.
