Hard limits are clearly viewed differently. I'm in the same camp as Red.
I've also known people who gave up hard limits later, after playing a while, with me or others. Limits change. Known a few who learned NEW limits after one action in play busted up a perfectly good orgasm and killed the evening for 'em. That CAN happen.
A lot of it is necessary when you don't know your play partner. The more you know that person, the less such limitations are declared. There's a few people here who have never given me limits and I *know* they had 'em. I always figured they relied on my attention and courtesy, which in D/s play is sorta amusing. Friends is friends, though.
