TMF's Moonknight approached me a few weeks ago (back in February, actually) about featuring Sally Cruikshank's creation Anita in a tickle scenario. It was an appealing prospect… I'd seen several of the Quasi/Anita cartoons in the '70s (back when they were relatively new), but hadn't thought much about them since. The chance to get reacquainted with her zany, free-form animation style (highly reminiscent of the Fleischer's 1930s Bimbo/Betty Boop loopiness) was irresistible!

Moonknight's first suggestion was to extrapolate an Anita dust-up from "Make Me Psychic" into a tickle fight, an option that held great appeal. Not only does such an occurrence come tantalizingly close in the course of the cartoon (Anita's rival is barefoot throughout), but the film offers loads of colorful characters to serve as a background crowd. Anyone interested in checking out "Make Me Psychic" (and it's strongly recommended) can find it here:

Sally, as it turns out, is an enthusiastic Youtube contributor. It's possible to find practically all her work at this link:

Along with "Make Me Psychic", "Face Like a Frog" and "Quasi at the Quackedaro" are tremendously creative, entertaining shows that shouldn't be missed!

Thanks FeatherHead! Hope I've done Sally justice (her crazy sense of aesthetic is far less appreciated than it should be!) Much gratitude for the compliments!

They are in quite a knot I must say! Nice execution and I love how you use the stairs to create some extra 'space' for people to stand on different levels. She is a duck? (sorry, I don't know the character)

And the one on the far left looks like he may be Mercy Mew's uncle or something... coincidence or a special personal touch? I wonder...

Good quality work as always!

I see what you mean... the ears and coloring really are close! No, though... that's a character right out of the cartoon! I wouldn't presume to impose on the master's (mistress's?) casting!

Anita is indeed identified by Sally as a duck. Quasi too... that's the guy on the stairs wearing the pull-over cap and carrying the eyeball. Snozzie as well, I suppose... that's him on the right with the pencil mustache. They've been stylized out of just about every identifiable avian characteristic... but if they did look more like actual ducks they'd be far less distinctive! Gotta admire the gene splicing... it makes for unique personas!

Thanks a ton for your generous compliments, Iloh! Deeply appreciated, as ever! 🙂

You're welcome LBH, as always. And I know how much comments are appreciated. People who don't do artwork themselves don't always realize.

Anyway, as I said I don't know the series, but nice knowing the answers to my 'wonderings'.

I think figures like "Donald Duck" look more like actual ducks, but then again, I think that these characters (that you drew) are far more "good looking". So even though they didn't register as ducks in my mind, they certainly have style. 🙂

And who wants to look like Donald Duck anyway! *snort*

Or Mickey Mouse, for that matter! I've always found Mickey mildly obnoxious in his beaming, bland spokes-rodnet function. Dedicating statues and topiary to Southern California vermin has always struck me as perverse… bet real mice and rats aren't nearly so welcome in the park! They better not be cooking gourmet meals down there, whatever the blandishments of Pixar!
