I think I mentioned a couple of years ago when I was sorting out some issues in my life that I would return on a part time basis after a brief hiatus. Well. there are some things that have come up which require more of my time, so unfortunetely, since there are only 24 hours in a day, something is going to have to give. Unfortunetely, this is what's going to have to give. Basically, my free time is at a premium anyway, and my kids are needing me more and more all the time. If it comes down to deciding to bond with my kids, and posting on the TMF, what am I going to do?. My son is getting older, and beginning to share in some of my interests. We have taken numerous ski trips this winter, and he is starting to develop an urge for baseball (YAY). My daughter isn't getting any younger, and they only grow up once. Another reason also concerns my kids, and I hope nobody takes this the wrong way, but I am going to be very honest. Being with the nature of this forum, I don't feel comfortable talking to them about it, especially my son, who is more curious than ever. If he asks me what the website is, I don't want to start lying to them to to cover up. I have discovered that white lies are like the snowball rolling down the mountain, if you know what I mean. They don't have to know, but I feel better if I didn't have to cover up.

I want to extend my gratitude to everyone that I have had the pleasure to meet either on line or IRL. You are all a very compassionate group, who all listen with an open mind, and extend support to make one feel better. There are some people on here I consider the finest people that I have ever met, and I mean that. You all know who you are. I want to thank the mods for the fine job that they do in making this a place where people can freely express themselves, without fear of repurcussion. In the rare event there are any trolls, the situation is handled discreetly and promptly. I have really enjoyed my time here, but there are things I need to address which can't be overlooked.

Thank you again for having me in your community.

And I just got to know you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But I am thankful for the thoughts we shared a few weeks ago. I could tell by that exchange that you are a top notch caring parent and I wish you many wonderful journeys with your family. God speed and take care.

Good luck in eveything you do Giant, we will miss you.

Hey, Dave!
I'll miss you, man, but I've got your office number. I'll give you a call sometime soon.

All my best wishes to you and your family!

Peace!

You will be missed very much. Good luck with all you do. Peace and wuv.

Family comes first. Having had a mutually wonderful, loving and respectful relationship with my Dad, I know how very important Dad's (and such relationships with them) are. Enjoy your kids and let them enjoy and get to know you. Good luck. Maybe we'll "see" you again in a few years or so.

Perfectly understood, Dave. Your kids should come first before anything else. And I can see how you wouldn't want to have them find out about this certain corner of the net.
Of coarse this doesn't mean we'll stop sharing ales in the future. 😉

you and your thoughtful posts will be missed...but of course family comes first...no doubt about that..you are a wonderful person and i am honored to know you at least online...good luck...

I fully understand Dave, as family does come first. I wish you and Judy best wishes in your future endeavors. I am truly gonna miss our banter about sports. Take care and Godspeed to the both of you

great to have the pleasure of knowing you both

Giantfan, sorry to see that you are retiring from TMF , You will be missed :sadcry: But given the choice between spending time with your kids who are growing older and wanting to have quality time with you, I understand and I wish you the Best :dogpile:

While I understand your reasons for doing so, I am still very sorry to see you go. You have been a true pleasure to share forum space with over the years, and I have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for you. You will be sorely missed, and I do hope that one day you'll find you do have a little time slot available in your day to give us an occassional visit again. My best wishes to you and your family for all the wonderful things that are yet to come. :redheart:

Dave, I'm very sorry to see your departure from the forum. I always enjoyed our conversations about baseball, and your general presence in the community. You have been a true asset to this forum, and I will miss you. Good Luck to you, my friend, with all your future plans and goals.

Mitch

Same here, but undoubtedly you are a fantastic dad and a man of great character. All the best my friend. God Bless..

Aww man, now I have to find another Giants fan to bust on 🙁

You will be missed my friend and I hope that in time you will return to TMF!

Farewell,Giantfan!

I hate to see anybody leave the forum, especially one of the many fine people who frequent this wonderful place. But as someone who has spent most of my life in and around the military,I know it is for the best that you are leaving. Children are only young once, and they grow up so fast! I`ve never heard a parent say that they regretted spending more time with their kids.I have seen so many parents regret missing out on their kids growing up. You are doing the right thing!

Best wishes to you,and good luck in all your endeavors! We`ll definitely miss you,but your kids do need you! Take care! :cool2:

Take care....I too am tinkering sometimes with leaving the forum, retiring so to speak. But I think Ive got a little time, but Im sure there will be a time when I too have to go.
We all shall miss you greatly, and you and yours will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Gee...do we need to have to get you a gold watch now???

Take care....family comes first...I know that.

Rob

Lots of really cool people leaving the forum, but for good reasons. I can totally understand your decision, although I'm always bummed to see good people saying good-bye.

Take care, Giantfan. I hope our paths cross in the future, man.

:dropatear :dropatear :dropatear :dropatear

I am really sad to see you go; I understand why, but it doesn't make it any easier. I want to thank you for being a friend sight unseen. I don't have friends in my RL who have come through in the manner you have.

Anyone remember a thread I posted a few months ago about needing help with my accounting class? My tutor had bailed out on me when his wife got jealous--yeah, that one! Giantfan came out of nowhere and saved my tail; his help got me a "B" in that course! People rag on TMF being a community and that it's only cyberspace not to depend on it, but this case proves all of that wrong! Anyone who would do such to help someone they've never seen is beyond awesome! I meant to pubically thank you for that and just got swamped with more studies. You already know of some of my other issues as well; thank you for checking in on me and trying to help me out.

I wish you well and hope you find everythng you're looking for and then some. Nothing is more important than your marriage and family; I wish you and Judy nothing but the very best in every aspect of your lives.

And if this turns into a semi-retirement, we'll be here when you get back! Take care and be blessed! :wavingguy

I miss you, Dave and consider you a great friend.. You know how to reach me and I hope you use that privilege. Contact me on yahoo anytime..
