Any other guys on here not care at all about football?

Wow... It is weird seeing this many guys openly admit they are not into football. To each their own I guess....

Football season is the greatest ever. It is also the shortest season out there. Stop bitching.... :peace:

It may be the shortest season, but it definitely carries more media coverage than like baseball, basketball, and hockey combined. Between college and pro football, if you're not a fan, probably a good time to sign up for Netflix if you don't wanna see football on all your major network channels 🙂

Also, football is the type of sport that if you never played it, it is really hard to get into. Other sports like baseball are much easier to follow even if you never played. With football you need to understand what's going on in the play and what the players are trying to specifically do on each play to really understand it. I don't have a clue when the guy on the teleprompter draws circles showing players going from here to there to cover a spot or open up downfield. I can watch baseball occasionally, but never a whole game. I played baseball, but even at that, the game is about as simple as it gets. Throw the ball, hit the ball, field the ball. There are tactics to the game, but nothing as complicated as understanding the plays in football.

I'm not a fan of sports, either. I hope nobody takes my man card away! :scared: It sucks, because many of my customers will try to make small talk about the Bengals, and I have nothing to say to them, unless I happen to pay attention to my friends' Facebook and Twitter updates that mention events that happened during the games. The only thing I follow is professional wrestling (which everyone knows isn't a sport.), so aside from a select few on here, I can't carry on a conversation about it with anyone over the age of like, twelve? Maybe thirteen. Wrestling hasn't been cool to watch since the "Attitude" era, and even then, there was a stigma of trashy redneck attached to being a fan. Up until this past Sunday, conversations could usually be diverted to True Blood, but now that won't be relevant again until next summer. Looks like I'm in the same boat.

I honestly haven't given a damn about football since Joe Montana was still quarterbacking. Those were the days!

Most "professional athletes" make me sick anyhow, getting paid more ANNUALLY than most of us will see in our lifetimes, especially when there are homeless veterans out there with nothing, despite serving their country.

^Oh yeah, what he said, too. 😀

I never liked this argument because I could say the same thing about plenty of hollywood actors, popular singers, talk show hosts, politicians, hack writers, etc, etc.

It's no more wrong that Ryan Howard will make millions of dollars for swinging a bat for six (or seven) months a year than it is that Rush Limbaugh will make that same amount for talking on the radio for four hours a day or Robert J. Sawyer will make the same for writing a sci fi book that a quarter million fanfic writers could do of similar quality.

Um, ndj101982, media coverage is not heavier during football season than the other sports combined. The NBA and MLB have more coverage. Why? Because their seasons are longer.

To each their own really. Some men don't like football and that's fine. It does seem strange but people have different likes and dislikes.

The game of football is THE ultimate team sport. No other sport requires complte cohesion to win games. In basketball, one guy can "take over" a game. In baseball, a pitcher can dominate a game. In hockey, a great goalie can dominate a game. But in football, one player can't dominate the game. A running back needs his offensive line. A quarterback needs people who catch his passes. Receivers needs quarterbacks. In football, if one person messes up, the whole play can be destroyed. Football is THE ultimate team sport.

I am beginning to think that I am the only guy in the world that couldn't care less about the NFL or college football.

You are far from the only one. For much of my life I was a rabid football fan, but began losing intrest in it years ago. My only intrest in sports now is limited to certain historical events (Such as Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier in MLB.) It's quite an intresting story if one does a bit of reading. Having said that, I won't dump on those who enjoy sports. We all like what we like. 🙂
