Anyone else with a craptacular Thanksgiving?

Greetings from a snowy Maine
I am a trucker who normally spends Thanksgiving at home in Ephrata,Pa This year I can't I am on a dedicated Wal Mart account where I have to stay on the road at leats 12 days My last time off was 5 weeks ago

Earlier this month I was told by my mother that I had been summoned for jury duty in Lancaster,Pa So far I have no luck in getting out of it Therefore I had to stay out this Thanksgiving

I called my mother earlier today She at least understands She told my nieces and nephews that I won't be home this year That bummed them out I will be calling them later

To add insult to injury my truck has an oil leak I could not get it fixed last night The Freightliner dealer was to busy I hope to get it fixed tommorrow

At least the diner/bar is serving Thanksgiving dinner tonight I think I may get drunk They serve Rolling Rock beer My favorite


Fething jury duty With any bit of luck one of the gakking lawyers will hate me So I will get excused from it

Hope ya'll have a better Thanksgiving than I do

now about jury duty. just say hell yea i'm for the death penalty heck i'll pull the plug. or whatever. that should get you out pronto. i think...

I dunno Thanksigiving is an ok holiday. Its not my fav though or anything. I like xmas eve the best, Halloween is just a cool/unique day that reminds you of when you were a kid and 4th of July, Labor Day, Memorial Day are all cool barbecue/fireworks etc. type holidays.
But Thanksgiving is a cool football/turkey holiday. Enjoy it as much as anyone can.

I feel for ya General. I've been stranded alone for the holidays myself. Not for a couple years, but I still remember how it felt.

Craptacular=good word for it. Spent 9 hours in a car, got rear-ended by some ass hat, got my ear talked off for hours by a bunch of crazy family members (who mostly bitched at each other) but left me alone. Then got to spend a lovely evening on what may be the world's MOST uncomfortable futon~except I didn't sleep! A house filled with 2 kids, one teenager, five other adults (4 are cigarette smokers in the house.) I'm not obviously. The noise never ended, TV, slamming doors, kids yelling at each other. Bleah. Next year for Thanksgiving I'm spending it at the beach (at least that's the story I'll be giving 'em--HEE!)

Well my thanksgiving wasn't as nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be, but the events of the day before kind of put a damper on the evening. Huge train wreck.. literally

I hope things get better for you, General! My mom is constantly called up for jury duty, but as soon as they find out we have officers of the law in assorted fields in our family (both past and present), she's dismissed.

You really SHOULD go to the beach next Thanksgiving. Last Christmas was a disappointment for us. We went to in-laws Christmas eve...I couldn't breathe because of cat allergy and a messy cluttered house, and they watched Dirty Harry movies on DVD (which would be fine otherwise but on Christmas?? sheesh...) and complained about the take-out food that we had to buy. This year we'll have them to our house Christmas Eve then go to Disney World on Christmas Day...so there! (like they really care that much anyway...!)

Oh...and hope your Christmas turns out better, Zod!
