My fellow Canadian’s, it has been recently brought to my attention that the CRTC is trying to control what we can or can’t bring into our homes, even if we pay for it. Every morning before I start work I listen to the Howard Stern show. Today Mr. Stern read an exert from the Toronto Sun that stated that his two channels (100 and 101 on Serious Satellite) would be blocked on Serious Canada’s radios. Personally I think this is discussing, not only because I am a fan of Howard Stern, but because the CRTC should not be permitted to censer what I choose to bring into my how if I am paying for it. I know many of you think Howard Stern is an ass hole, sometimes I think he is an ass hole, that’s not the point. Everybody is an ass hole to somebody, if they will deny Mr. Stern his right to be an ass hole, how long will it be before someone denies YOU your right to be an ass hole. Stand up for your right to listen to, watch, or say what you want. Contact the Canadian Radio and Telecommunications Council and let them know this is intolerable. No organization should have that much power!

Thank you for your time.

It sounds like the CRTC is about as obnoxious as the FCC is here. What is it with governments trying to screen everything we watch or listen to? Why can't they leave us the hell alone?

Thanks for the link and info, ST. I agree with you, Mac. Our governments have no business censoring programming when it's on channels only adults can pay to watch, unless actual harm is being done. I don't like Howard Stern, but he has every right to do what he does on his shows. I think I now understand what happened to TMF member Moses25. What a damn shame. 😡

P.S. On a lighter note, ST, you might want to spell-check your post next time. 😀

The FCC in this country might attempt to censor on normal broadcasts but thats why Stern is moving to a pay service so that he can not be censored in this country. I guess its a good thing that some things are privately owned in this country (USA) and thus the FCC can not force us not to be able to hear or see it. They can put restrictions and make it play late night, but at least they can't or dont take it completely away.
But I guess unfortunately when you live somewhere where the government 100% regulates things they can get away with it.
Thank goodness I live in the US.

hehehe, yeah the spell check thing :jester: j/k

Yes, the CRTC up here is completely bogus and abuse their power... I'm in total agreement. I'm not sure how much this has to do with Moses situation (and I sure hope all is well on that front), but I do know just about everything we get from the US has to be filtered down to include Canadian content. Radio, television... everything! So much so, we can't legally watch HBO, ESPN or just about anything. Gotta get an illegal satellite hook-up for that shit. Its completely absurd, but I don't see it going away any time soon

Suffice it to say that government scares the crap outta me, it's out of control, it represents no entity except itself, and "voting" is a joke.

I'm serious, as of last week California is no longer governable. California has ten more years of terpitude (sp?) left then Arizona is going to buy our sorry ass on the cheap and split the territory with Nevada to avoid anti-trust hassles.

And knock off the spelling police schtick, it's the feeling behind the post that counts. Slave was loud and clear and right on with his missive.
