If you could change your first name to anything you wanted (within reason), what would you change it to, and why? (Your real name, not your tmf one)

Not sure what I would change it to but I always thought my first name was kinda plain. I always wanted something a little more original or more representative of my heritage. My last name is hard core Italian so I always thought it would have been night to have a equaly strong Irish first name for my mom's side. I always just liked that idea. Maybe it's a bit weird but that would fit me perfestly.

Now, I wouldn't. When I was a kid I always wished I was a Becky, but after 24 1/2 years of being Elizabeth Ann, I've grown quite fond of it 🙂

Max Power, cause I read it on the side of a hair dryer 😀.

I actually like my name Nicole; I just hate the fact it's so widely popular. I knew at least a dozen Nicoles in school. :disgust:

Though, if I had to change my name, I'd probably go with like Alexandra. I've always had a fondness for that name. 😀

i did change my first name, dropping the last letter and dropping my middle name as well. my first name was a child's name and i was working on a phd in a male dominated field. i didn't want to be publishing under a child's name. the only thing left with my original name is my birth certificate.

the trick for me was trying to find a name with which i had a connection. i didn't really want to pick a name out of the sky or even use a name i'd call my favorite name, although i sometimes use my favorite name as an alias online or when i don't want to give out my real name. i thought about going by my middle name, but i didn't have a connection with it. an artist friend of mine then suggested i drop the last letter of my first name, giving me a rather exotic and androgynous first name. my current name was a nickname i'd been called by my dad for years, giving me the sought after connection and thus solving my problem 🙂

a few thoughts if you're thinking of changing your name:

**it takes a while for people to get accustomed to your new name. because i was quite mobile, be-bopping around the country to advance my career, only the people who knew me before i began my career call me by my old name. everyone since only knows me by my current name. i don't even turn my head when my original name is called.
**once you begin getting mail in your new name, you can get your driver's license and bank account name changed which will then allow you to get your name changed on your social security card, making your new name your official legal name without having to go to court.
**if you want old friends and associates to be able to locate you, you'll need to create a sort of cross reference page. to enable my college and k-12 friends to locate me, i created both a facebook and classmates.com page with my original name that merely tells people to look for me under my current name. googling my original name didn't include any info under which i could be tracked down, even though i only dropped the last letter of my first name, so i had to create those cross ref pages which now appear when you google my old name.

Well, though i was named after a great man (my grandfather), i've never really cared for my birth name, which is Frank. I started going by Luke when I joined the military, simply because nobody could pronounce my last name. So, as I introduce myself to people, it's usually the name of Luke that I use. Oddly enough, I found out just before my grandfather passed away.......that he also went by the name of Luke. So, for me, that would be my choice.

Real name change: Carlos Renteria. Why? Because it's been my online alias for over a decade now, so why not just become it?

TMF name change: Either Adebisi (because Adebisi's no joke) or 'No Heart' Anthony (because nobody would get that reference).

No. Reuben is an amazing name.
But if I had to change it, I'd change it to Dave.

When I was little, I always wanted to be Alan, which is my father's name. Once I got older, and realized what kind of a person he is, that idea dropped out of my head.

My middle name is Ross. I always thought that Ross was a much cooler and unusual name than Mitchell. For years I've been telling my mom that I was going to drop my first name, and just call myself Ross. The problem is that I loved my maternal grandmother dearly, and I was named after both of my grandmother's parents, who my mom was very close to. I was named Mitchell for my great grandfather, whose name was Meyer. Grandma basically told me that if I drop my first name, I'd be dissing her father, which would make her very unhappy, so I haven't done it. I've been Mitchell Ross for 40 years, so at this point I'll probably just keep it, but I've always thought that Ross was a much cooler name than Mitchell.

Mitch

If I could , I'd change my name to "Bananas" ... so that when I tickled certain ladies , I'd get 'em to shout my name every so often. :dancingbanana:

... or maybe I'd switch it to something flashy , like "John" or "Ed".

lol ^

'No Heart' Anthony (because nobody would get that reference).

Omar Little's brother 😛

You mean there were 14 others called that?

No, but I've always wanted to be "The Fifteenth" of something. Makes me sound like the legacy of a great dynasty, instead of the spawn of the north that I am.

I always wanted to be a doctor, but never got that far in life. But since I deal with peoples medical issues at my job, it would be nice to have that (pretend) designation even though I wasn't one. Also, those around me would be forced to call me Doctor and it would give me an extra boost in the eyes of my clients. So, I'd change my first name to Dokter....

Well...my real first name is Athena. I like it most of the time 🙂.

But if it wasn't that, I'd want to name myself something cool like Isis Supernova :jester: (what?? :scared: that's not super cool?? )

Most perfect comic book name EVAR!

I'm going to be changing my real name, actually. Not sure when. I have a lot on my plate right now, so I'm not sure when I'll get around to it. My reason: legal. No more, no less.

...So far, I haven't permanently decided...

Ideas
January.
Hazel.
Lydia..........

Blegh. I'll think of/add more later.
