I've actually been curious about this in a vague sense for quite some time now, but it wasn't until I watched a video on someone describing their childhood ideologies in chronological order up to age 12 with great detail, that I realized... compared to this person in question, I can remember almost none of my childhood.

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to say I have some form of Amnesia, because I certainly don't. I can remember brief flashes of my childhood. Little specks of memories that usually only had to do with certain, random events that branded themselves into my mind. I can remember key concepts, and what I was doing/what was happening at the time... but I can't ever remember anything in detail.

For instance, if you asked me what my favorite food was between the ages of 6 and 10, I would have no idea what to say. I simply cannot remember.

So, my question to you all is... have any of you noticed anything like this? Just how clear are your memories of childhood? I can understand that nobody should be able to really clearly remember events before the age of 6... but I'm pretty much have trouble remembering anything in detail up until around my 12th year.

Maybe I just have terrible memory. I dunno.

I don't remember anything before 18.

Well I technically do, but I've suppressed all of it for so long it takes effort to actually visualize it.

I have a number of vivid memories from my childhood before age 12. A few of them I wish were not so vivid. Sometimes though, when something comes to mind I have to think about how old I was when a given event occurred.

I'm roughly in the same boat as you. Aside from the occasional random memory, there's not a whole lot that stands out to me about my early experiences. I guess I never really put a whole lotta stock into my childhood. I always hated being patronized by adults who treated me like a child, asking stupid questions that you'd ask a kid who barely has a grasp of English, or wanting me to do something they thought was cute. Aside from that, it always seemed like childhood was all about restrictions, and having to wait until I got older before I could do a lot of what I wanted to do.The main thing I remember was looking forward to growing old enough to do those things.

I have a few solid memories from childhood, but they're awfully scattered.

Movies and shows I saw, some things I did and learned in elementary school, a few friends I had and so forth. But the memories really don't add up to a coherant whole until around 12 or 13.

And I can't understand how anyone can remember kindergarden or before; that's really nothing but a blur for me.

I don't have a lot of clear memories of my childhood. Most of them are from 6 and older. Also I know some of my memories are not memories of what happened but memories of what I was told and what I saw in pictures and videos.

I have vague memories going back to early childhood, from the view point of being in a baby swing, or sitting on the floor or my high chair. I'm told that on my first birthday, I put the candle out with my hand. Of course that's one I don't remember.
