Thoughts on it? do you think it's right? is it good for the rap music industry as a whole? or is it wrong to ''degrade'' anybody?

I'm trying to figure out where you're going with this one. I assume you're asking what do I think about a bunch of ex-dope dealers calling the women B's and hoes? I find it disgusting to refer to our African American queens to an animal with a fur coat, four legs, and a tail!
vampirecult said:I just simply asked the question. how do you feel about it? todays rap artist and the rap culture ingeneral really calling women Hoes and Sluts etc.... in thier rap videos and lyrics. your opinions and thoughts on it that's all. that's my point. pretty simple to understand.
Mimi said:It honestly doesn't bother me any. I go past the words and focus on the lyrics as a whole, and the rhythm in which they flow. And if it's put to a good beat, well then you can bet I'll shake my big rump to it. 😉

Mimi said:Cause it's just a word, and it takes more than that to offend me. Words can only offend if a person perceives them as offensive. The terms "bitch" and "*****" don't bother me either. It's just a generalized term, not being said to anyone in specific.

Now I personally don't take offense to this because I am not either of those above terms. And I loooove a good beat... hell, you can have great sex just based on a good beat.

With all due respect to Mimi whom I adore, they are more than just words.
They are messages to young people and they are filled with disrepect and violence. In my house growing up, we weren't allowed to use words like nigger, jew-boy, gooks, or fags. They were just words too...but they were words that had meaning and power for those who used them. The KKK used them....and they degraded women too. It's about the vulgar implications behind the words.
The first time my 14 year old nephew called his 8 year old cousin a little ***** because he was aggravated with her, my brother really opened his eyes to what the power of those "words" were doing to his son. He had become indifferent to how he had treated the gals in his life...mom, sister, cousins and friends who dumped him for the attitude. He still listens to some of the music, but he's getting an education in the power of words when we made him find the right ones to explain to his 8 year old cousin what a ***** was and why he was sorry he called her that.
This music is listened to by mroe than the 25 year old guy blasting it as he rides down the street. It's going into the ears of kids who don't yet know that they don't represent the real world.
I'll never understand the WHY behind the need to insult the feminine part of the human race. Women worked too hard to earn equal standing in society to be treated with such disregard. There were days when we weren't allowed to vote because we weren't smart enough...we did something about it ...but for some reason we don't mind being labled bitches and *****s.
I just don't understant it. At least I know my boys won't grow thinking it's OK to use that language. Thank god I don't have a daughter...don't know how I'd give her the message that it was somehow ok that people called her that.

What bothers me more than girls/women not minding being called these filthy derogotory names is the fact they use them on each other. I rank it in the same place of blacks calling each other the "N" word.

SlaverTickler said:I didn't think Rev. King martched on Washington so furture generations could call themselves African-Americans. Wow, I'm always learning. As far as the women in rap music goes. They they take a paycheck home every week, as long as they are doing it on their own vocation I guess everybody elts should just shut the fuck up.
kis123 said:For starters:
African-American is a "PC" term and I personally do NOT like being referred to. My ancestors did NOT come from Africa so it doesn't apply to me.
Second, as far as the women are concerned:
If they want to shake their asses on camera for the entire world to see in the name of a paycheck, that's their business. If they don't expect someone to have an opinion about it, then put your clothes back on and stop gyrating on videos and I'll be just fine! To me it's no different than a dancer in a sex club or a prostitute performing her trade. If you want respect, involve yourself in something respectable.
isabeau said:i agree about the african-american term. it would be like calling all caucasians hmmm heck i'm not sure where im going with this lol anyway out of curiosity, and dont take this wrong, because i for one hate when people of color are described such as in a clip now we have a black woman. it doesnt happen when a white woman is featured. why not? you know? what i am getting at, is this, kis, what term do you prefer to be called or do you not prefer any? i personally prefer black as i do white for white. which is very general since there are all shades of black and white.
and i love eminiem for the record.
