Who all here works out, and what do you do? I'm just starting a regimen of my own, ivolving this:
Daily curls with a 8Kg Dumbell, about 8 X 10 each arm, 40 situps, 25 pushups, and an hour of biking per day, weather and time permitting. I CAN lift 575 legpress, but I don't have that machine readily available to me at the moment.

Any suggestions?

Tell me what you guys do to work out!

Whenever I get in the mood to "work out" I generally lie down until it goes away.😀

Yes, I work out at least every other day. Lately it has been 5 days a week. Right now, mine includes running for an hour, sparring for an hour, and hour on the bags and jumping rope, and an hour doing pushups, situps, leg raises, and other little exercises. When I am not trying to make weight I lift (shoulder presses, bench presses, lat pulldowns, seated rows, tricep extensions, bicep dumbbell curls, etc).

My workouts get quite intense for many reasons.

Hubba hubba 😉 Your body must be like a rock Shinning Ice, I just started working out and walking 3 days a week. I'll add more as I get better.😛

Yep that I do

In an attempt to trim down the right way( staving off the familial demons of diabetes and heart disease as well) I started exerciseing back in sept( well excercing consistently I mean) Walking/running my very active border collie at least 45 min a day( ofter twice a day if time permits),and after christmas lifting weights. I am now up to 10-20 lb weights on my arms( have to get my reps in order tho) and can legpress about 200-250. This has helped my health, mental state and appearance (and made me a feister ticklee)

Congrats on the beginnings of the exercise program hon. You will feel the difference in a very short time! IMHO exercise is for every BODY , whether you are a sz 6 or a sz 26.
If you would like an e-mail partner/encourager just let me know!

I've seen that quote attributed to the anthropologist Margaret Mead.

The playwrite George Bernard Shaw is supposed to have said "The only exercise that I take is acting as pallbearer at the funerals of my friends who take exercise."

Sure I work out. 10 lb. weights every day, different muscle groups each day to keep the fatigue off, a lot of different exercises with them; running three times a week usually and riding my bike as much as is possible with weather. Now I just need to get a membership to a gym and I'll be set. I do sports a lot as well, so it's a well rounded program.

yes, daily thing first thing in the morning 4:30 ugggggg!!!!! Starting to do a little bit with lite weights for the women you know to tone muscle. and walking, every day!

On the floor

- Pushups
- Ab flexes
- Six Inches
- Side Leg Raises

(generally 15 to 20 minutes, depending on reps)

On the bicycle, weather allowing

- 5 miles

I have backed off of competitive sports (racquetball) for two very different reasons

(1) I will push myself too much, and chase the ball when I really ought to let it go.

(2) I deliberately remove people from my life who think that the score on a racquetball court determines whether they go to Heaven or Hell.

And yes, I would love to set up an E-mail reporting scheme with other members here. It would help me a lot.

I am a fan and believer in regular light frequent exercise

I have started going to the gym on campus. I do 25 minutes on the treadmill at 3.5mph. and then cool down for 5 minutes at 2.5mph. Then, I do the Nautilus machines. One day lower body and next day upper. I try for at least 3 days a week. It is difficult because of the hours that it is open for all students. There are classes in the gym from 8am-2pm. and my classes are 10am-noon.

So far, I am doing pretty well at getting there by 7am.

*sigh* I've been SUCH a slacker about going to the gym lately...

Anyways, here's the routine I generally follow when I'm behaving myself:

Day 1: Chest

Flat Bench Press
Decline Bench Press
Incline Bench Press (switching the incline/decline order each week)
Cable Crossovers and/or Dumbbell Flyes

Day 2: Back

Curl Pulldowns
Lat Pulls
Dumbbell Bent-Over Rows
Machine Rows

Day 3: Shoulders

Seated Military Press (I prefer a rocker-arm, non-universal machine for these)
Dumbbell Lateral Raises
Bent-Over Dumbbell Flyes
Dumbbell Shrugs (done slowly with as much weight as possible)

Day 4: Arms

Dumbbell Curls
Tricep Extensions (straight handle)
Cable Curls (individual handle)
Tricep Extensions (V-shaped handle)
Cable Curls (2-handed straight handle)
Tricep Extensions (individual handle)

Days 5 and 6 (and sometimes 7): Rest

I don't do a "Leg Day" because for various reasons my legs are already quite large enough, thank you. 😛 (I don't have calves. I have COWS. 😉 )

Please note that this is a routine designed primarily to build and maintain strength and mass. For toning or endurance, you would likely take a much different approach. I do 3 sets of between 8 and 12 reps for each exercise, depending on how much weight I'm using, except for the flat bench, for which I use a 5-set pyrimid (increased weight for fewer reps in each successive set). I try to follow every weight workout with at LEAST 20-30 minutes of cardio. (I prefer an exercise bike with a backrest 😉 )

Didn't know you were a player bud! I was a state ranked tournament player back about 10 years ago, but as you have so correctly stated, there are individuals who take the game WAY too seriously, especially when you consider that even the pro's make very minimal livings at it! I play locally now and hit a few tournaments, mostly challenge court and just friendly pick ups against A and Open players , of which we have a surprising number locally. Did a few state tournaments a while ago. We cleaned Conn. and Pa. out fairly easily, and lost to California of all places in the quarterfinals.

Anyway, I do cardio, somewhere between 30-50 minutes of either walking/jogging/bicycling or some combination about 4 times a week, floor work for abs and back after the cardio, racquetball sessions 3 times weekly for about 2-3 hours a session, and weight lifting for upperbody following each racquetball session. Jump rope and hit the heavy bag as stress dictates, but those are in my basement gym and easily available. Just started restructuring my diet as I'd like to cut about another 10 pounds off and get a bit faster on the court. I'm basically a Zone guy, but I decided to try a modification suggested to me by one of the hard bodies at the gym. He never ingests any carbs 4 hours before bedtime. I've been on it for about a week now, and it's HARD! Eating protein at that time of night in any form is difficult and doesn't fill you up well, so you end up just shrugging and not eating, which works out well.

If you're ever out this way, we'll have to rock and fire a bit at the court. Q

Q,
I know a great way to get a cardio workout. Why don't we get together and help get eachother's hearts pumping. 😛 😉

*Gasp*

You mean...trying to get the tops off all the jars of pickles in the grocery store? You devil!! That's quite a workout and running from the store manager adds a level of difficulty to the whole process...🙄 Q

Personally every Monday I do a dozen or two donut curls. Not those little gem donuts, the really big donuts, so you can really feel the burn.😀

Yes, I would love to join you, are they stuffed with Orange Marmalade? 😉 😛

Orange marmalade is the way to go. I stuffed some Eclairs with Hyperplasma marmalade but they openned up a time rift in our universe and vanished.😀
