Early Report..Michael Jackson suffers cardiac arrest...and now has died. RIP.

He's had health issues for awhile, I wouldn't doubt that he and his lawyers got that all squared away.

Am I the only one blowing up my playlist with Michael Jackson songs now?

I just remember there was alot of legal Jargon when he married Presley and then the divorce. Yeah we will find out in the coming months whats what but its still a curious issue.

I can still remember being a kid & seeing him do the moonwalk for the first time on that Motown 25 special in , what? ... like '83 , right?

That shit was friggin' crazy! As soon as he did that my jaw hit the floor. Seriously , my mouth was wide open for like ten minutes after that. It was easily the coolest thing I had seen at that point in my young life.

I was a huge fan of his as a kid ( seemingly , everybody was at that time ) & that era of his music holds a very special place in my heart.

Shocked as hell when I heard about this news this afternoon.

Not shocked at all that this thread is already six pages deep.

Peace out , Mike. I'm gonna go blast some Off the Wall & Thriller now.

I remember watching his Thriller video when I was a little kid. And it gave me nightmares. I think I stored that subconciously because that's not my favorite song by him.

However this song:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/cupnsUDyjuA&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/cupnsUDyjuA&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Is insanely hot.

Crazy talk!!! Thriller was epic. But I really liked the one he did with Janet too...

I remember this being played nonstop on mtv(when they played music)

I just remember being creeped out at how they both interacted with each other

Also its odd, for some reason a sub meme\joke is going through the net saying Jeff Goldblum died. Odd how they picked him of all for a joke.

I heard about that. It started in New Zealand, where they apparently hate Jeff Goldblum and did it as a hoax. They picked a helluva day to do it.

Amen.

It's stuff like this that brings the trolls out anyways. Fuckheads.

Here's another one of my favorites:

Fuck. This brings back memories of playing his Tapes over and over and over and over again while playing with my Barbies. (I was six. Fuck off!)

<a href="http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=2275592">Michael Jackson - Remember the time</a><br/><object width="425px" height="360px" ><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"/><param name="wmode" value="transparent"/><param name="movie" value="http://mediaservices.myspace.com/services/media/embed.aspx/m=2275592,t=1,mt=video"/><embed src="http://mediaservices.myspace.com/services/media/embed.aspx/m=2275592,t=1,mt=video" width="425" height="360" allowFullScreen="true" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent"></embed></object>

This would be one of my absolute faves, besides Thriller.

Don't front. You know you ALL know the words...

I am absolutely stunned. Michael? Gone? Talk about this event affecting the ENTIRE PLANET. It is very rare that someone could be known through every corner of the planet. Michael Jackson is one of those people who touched the lifes of BILLIONS of people. Right now, the other side of the world will wake up to this news and will be devastated. Ever see a concert abroad? Man, it is insane! This is truly shocking.

Slaver...Man, if I were to tell you what I think of you right now, I would be banned. Have some respect dude. Really....

I remember when he first did the Moonwalk. Blew everyone away. The next day at school, countless numbers of kids tried to imitate it. My favorite song is "Remember the time" followed by "Billie Jean". I like that "Scream" song and my favorite line in that song is "Stop fucking with me...."

The world has just lost it's true international superstar. I hope/wish the world will have one big moment of silence to remember him. No battles, no political debates, no crimes, nothing. Just remember Michael Jackson.

QFT. As always, you nailed it totally, prime. Just goes to show you what music can do to people in all cultures.

I'd like to say RIP to the TALENTED YOUNG BLACK MALE MR. JACKSON.

NOT the white girly looking one who touched children.
Whatever Michael Jackson did in music (obviously, a lot) does not make up for what he did to children. If you honestly don't think he was a pedophile then I have a bridge I would like to sell you.

People who harm children like that I have no place in my heart for them.

I will not say anymore. As I respect Jackson for what he did to music...not so much him the person.

But ANYONE who dies does not need jokes to be made about them, especially 2 hours after it happens when I'm sure he has a lot of fans on here that are heartbroken. Have respect for THEM at least if not for Michael.

Now who I feel the worse for? his 3 children who will grow up fatherless.

One of my local stations (Q104 for you Ohioans) is doing a MJ playlist. I've been boogie-ing for almost 2hrs now! To say that the man was a musical genius would be the understatement of the century!

This is one of those moments where you'll always remember where you were when you heard the news.

He should be remembered for his music and not his frankly bizarre personal life. Which for the most part i think will be the case.

I imagine also that the people who spent upwards of £1000 for a ticket to his comeback tour will be particularly devestated

RIP King of Pop... Damn the countless hours I've spent listening to your music... You will be missed...

You are so right Primetime. One of the things I keep going back to is that you could go almost anywhere in the world...the streets of New York, Paris, London, Tokyo, Beijing and then to places in Africa, India, Asia...places where they do not even have running water and many people there know who Michael Jackson is. They can sing his songs, point out who he is. No one else on the planet has ever had that kind of status except perhaps Elvis. But even with Elvis the population was not as big as it is now and MJ had that appeal to everyone all over the world.

Again, I am not going to debate what he did or did not do. But he was someone who for a time gave so much of himself to others...USA for Africa, his charity work and many other things. He was a man that was loved or hated....but by more people on the planet than possibly any other human being in the history of mankind.

His passing is sad. This is our generations equivalent of Elvis dying. Feel how you want to about his personal life, but do not discount his impact on the entire world.

I wouldn't make the Elvis comparison. People saw the horrible performance decline of Elvis when he was in Vegas and whatnot. Despite Michael not performing as much, when he did return he still put on a good show so other than his personal fuck up issues, his musical career remained solid.

This right here was one of the coolest commercials for me back in the day. I'm sure I spazzed out w/glee when I first saw it :

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/vd15YVb2M6M&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/vd15YVb2M6M&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

The quality of the video ain't the greatest , but some of you eagle-eyed TMFers out there might be able to recognize the kid emulating Michael in this ad. Hint ... he later went on to share the same address w/a certain "Prince" of a town called Bel-Air.

Alfonso Ribisi was the first (if not only) Pepsi kid. That was probably the first job he got!

Thanks, now I have to account for all this gray hair!:parrot2:

There's never been anyone else like him, and there probably never will be again.

He may be the only artist ever who could manage to transcend just about every boundary there is. No matter what your race, your age, your nationality, whatever; when you hear his best stuff, you're hooked, instantly.

Yesturday was a SAD day with the loss of farrah fawcett...Micheal Jackson...not so much.Yes he was a great performer.....but he was also a pedophile....i find it very hypocritical that the press who basically chased this child molester out of hollywood and out of the limelight are the same people singing praises and mourning the loss of the iconic figure...THE MAN SLEPT WITH AND MOLESTED YOUNG BOYS!!...That is abolutely unforgivable and makes you the scum of the earth for life!..or are we forgiving all the child molesters now? Sure one can put up teh arguement that me was found not guilty..SO WAS OJ!!! and who in there right mind can honestly say OJ was innocent.....Micheal did what he did to those kids and hopefully he's paying for it right now...meanwhile farrahs death falls right off the radar...unfair

I don't know what you were watching yesterday, but every entertainment network exclusively did documentaries on Farrah. They did not deter because Michael died, and I'm glad they didn't. The world was expecting her death at some point; no one saw the MJ death coming just hours after Farrah's and the world was in shock. Even CNN alternated between the two most of the night.

Let's face it; there is no comparison to an actress who got most of her fame in the 70s and 80s to a pop music icon who pretty much everyone on this planet knows about. Doesn't make Farrah's death any less meaningful or important, but when it comes to popularity, this is an apples/oranges thing to me.

Now onto that MJ/OJ comparison that's been loosely used around here. The only thing the two of them have in common is Johnnie Cochran. Either the man was one helluva defense attorney, or the police depts and DAs had weaker or worse cases (definitely true in OJ's case-LAPD sucked)! Other than that, there are no comparisons. I'm all for giving a total breakdown, but this IS a tribute thread and don't see the need.

If you just can't manage to post a positive tribute WITHOUT reminding everyone of the alleged actions of a very sick man who left a musical legacy that'll never be seen again in my lifetime, I simply don't know.
