I wasn't born yet but of course I have seen it on highlights. I always liked home grown players more like Mattingly, Jeter, Pettitte, Rivera, and even guys now like Judge and Volpe.

I do like home grown players, but I also like getting stars who win a World Series for you from another team (such as Mookie Betts from the Red Sox for the 2020 World Series).

I'm so glad the Yankees won. As much as I want them to get back to the World Series, if they don't I'm just so glad we didn't lose to Boston at home.

Yes, it was wonderful to watch the Red Sox being shut out by a rookie pitcher. :bounce:

He was amazing. I hope he turns out to have a great career. The Yankees need a 24 year old who is awesome for once from their farm system.

Every team wants that, a great talent that comes from their own farm system. Most teams lose him after 6 years because they can't afford to keep him, but large payroll teams can have him for his whole career.

Yankees down 2-0 in trouble. I predicted Toronto would win this series though. I think they're a better team this year.

The Blue Jays have the "hungry team" factor on their side since they haven't won a World Series since 1993.

Amazingly (for the Yankees) it's a long time since they won a World Series...16 years. They were winning them constantly during the Jeter era. I'll never forget though when he said "This isn't easy" when everyone was seeing the Yankees win year after year.

Jeter was right. It is very hard for any team to keep winning year after year. As far as consecutive World Series victories, the Yankees five in a row, 1949 to 1953, will likely stand as the record forever.

Yeah the Yankees got 4 out of 5 from 1996 to 2000 which is insane as it is and they almost tied that record but fell short in 1997 (actually they were closer in 2001 so they almost had 6 in a row lol)...but those old teams from the 50s and 90s are hard to match.

Another important factor: Before 1969, there were no playoff series to win before getting in to the World Series.

It's sad the Yankees season is over but I truly felt that Toronto was better this season. The Jets are 0-5 already and the only team without a win. Thank goodness I'm following hockey lol.

I know nothing about NFL football but I can't understand why the Jets don't improve from one year to the next with draft picks.

Their management has been the problem. They just haven't picked the right head coach.

I can believe that an excellent head coach is vital to success. Coaching in the NFL is not like managing the 1927 Yankees where all Miller Huggins had to say was, "There's the field. Don't break your leg getting out of the dugout."
