It's worse than that - they're planning on showing up to picket them. I think WBC is largely a single family, so it's likely some sort of hereditary mental disorder, but that's no excuse.

I don't hate guns (I happen to own an old fashioned revolver made by Ithaca Gun that is in fairly good condition and belonged to a civil war veteran in my family). I DO however hate how gun shows and loose gun laws have allowed immense proliferation of guns (even military-grade ones) through the population. I don't have a problem with a family owning a single pistol (assuming they pass background checks). I do have a problem with a family owning SEVERAL AUTOMATIC WEAPONS along with pistols, fletchet launchers, and even full suits of tactical body armor. In my opinion civilians who are in no way a part of this nation's military don't need shit like that.

You need to bring up an example where "right wing" people have attacked a marathon, or civilians in general.

You can only get guns at gun shows two ways. One is you go through a dealer and if you have a concealed, or depending on the laws some other kind of license, can pick it up that day. Or you buy it from someone else who happens to be selling it with cash. Just like you can buy a car, or anything else that can be used as a weapon over craigslist. Doing it the latter way will bring up some serious legal problems if the person uses that weapon and its brought back that you sold it and you don't have some kind of paperwork saying you sold it to them legally.

I don't care how decked out your AR-15 or AK-47 is. It is not military grade. No one in the armed forces is using what you can buy at a gun store or online. They all have select fire weapons or fully automatic weapons with grenade launchers and other things that ARE NOT legal to own in America since the 20s without a CLASS 3 License. The guns used in the mass shootings are not military grade. Honestly if they were using shotguns alot more people would have been killed, and no one is after those.

Families that own automatic weapons have gone through several types of paperwork to get a CLASS 3 and have paid several hundreds, to several thousands of dollars to own FULLY AUTOMATIC or SELECT FIRE weapons and have to go through several background checks and alot of time are gun store owners or just rich people that are not going to be using them in mass shootings. No mass shootings have been using FULLY AUTOMATIC or SELECT FIRE weapons other then cartel style things or like old gangsters with Tommy guns or Bonnie and clyde, etc. Body armor is not legal in alot of places and even if it is it costs alot of money.

Also that church is crazy. Let them picket. If you are going to let Neo Nazis picket things, you got to let them picket. Its there right to do so as long as its non violent. If you take that away you might as well stop non violent protests for everything and turn America into a non free country.

And as a reminder this person used a bomb, not a gun, to do this.

But I agree with Senshi. Let's keep this thread about the actual bombing event and the euphoric moment of catching those responsible yesterday, instead of passing blame or taking sides. Not only is it technically off-topic-ish, but I think we ought to be respectful to all those affected by this thing and not use this moment to point fingers at each other, regardless of your political flavor of ice-cream. We're better than that. Anyway, there are other threads that can be (politely) debated over.

Now how about that outpouring of support from not only Americans, but our friends around the world? And all those rivalry sports teams honoring the Boston teams during these harsh times? It's really touching. :happy:

My apologies for possibly insulting possible republicans by the "right-wing" statement. I should have made it clear that there have been domestic terrorists that have belonged to BOTH prominent political parties in this country (and therefor one side cannot finger the other with 100% of the blame). Sorry if I ruffled some feathers people.

I also apologize if stating my opinions on people who own multiple sorts of guns irked some people. The opinion itself is based on my seeing guns as not mere collectable objects but as deadly weapons. In short, I believe that while it certainly okay to own one or two I can't see any useful purpose for owning several or many. Then again, I can't see any useful purpose to people owning dozens of cars for that matter (unless they plan on selling them) but this is all just my little opinion people. I don't mean in anyway to put my beliefs on others. Again, sorry if feathers were ruffled.
