I was wondering the same thing.

It's almost as if some people think this style of "music" burst from the womb of imagination without the natural evolution that happens in the creative process.

Rap grew, just like everything else. Those others listed ARE rap. They just happened before some folks were born.

I see him flawlessly performing in the exact same style as the original, with lyrics that are just as good, if not better.

I'm not down with the hip street lingo, so whatever "flowing" is is lost on me... but if it uses "rap" beats (as it does) and is spoken in rhyme (as it is), then it's a rap song, no matter who's doing it. if I got a karaoke version of Gangsta's paradise and freestyled over the background track, is that rap? or doesn't that count either?

That would be the Bloodhound Gang, and although it is not a rap song, it is very funny and I quite enjoy it myself!

i do not enjoy rap in the least - notwithstanding the fact that i have always liked that pioneering song by the sugar hill gang, way back before the term "Rap" was coined.

does any real rap aficionado even consider it rap?
