Here is a thread for people to post about some of their favourite Star Trek moments, from any particuler series.

I've been a fan of star trek since i started watching "the Next Generation" when i was in probably my early teens. I continued to be a faithful watcher throught the series, and unto "Deep Space 9" which IMO, was the best of the series.

I never really got into voyager. It wasn't a bad series, but i felt it was a step down from DS9. However, i did catch several episodes, and one in particuler burned itself into my mind.

In this episode(i missed the first 10 minutes) Nelix and Tuvok are merged together by a transporter accident. This creates a new person (i can't remember if his name was Nevok or Tulix but it was something like that) who begins to befriend the members of the crew, having memories of both charactors. Ultimately, it is discovered that Tulix can be seperated back into Tuvok and Nelix by injecting him with isotopes, and then using a transporter to split them appart. The only problem though is that Tulix doesn't want to die. Ultimately, Janeway must make a decision and decides to inject Tulix with the isotopes against his will.

The actor who would play Tulix would be the same actor who played Tuvok. For me, this was interesting, as it gave the actor a chance to play something different then a rigged, emotionless Vulcan. Frankly, after watching this series, i strongly felt this actor was miscast, as i thought he did an exceptional job given a chance to flex his acting muscles.

Here is a clip of the particuler scene that really stands out as one of Star Treks greats.

Say it! SAY IT!

Mine is from the movie (hope thats okay), I think it was Star Trek 4, the one where they travel back in time to present day San Fran and are trying to repopulate the Earth with Humpback Whales.

The line is Scotty saying...

"Captain, there be whales here"

Don't know why, I just always find it amusing.

Rob

"Resistance is futile! you will be assimilated".

That is more a phrase of several episodes.

I remember much more sentences and phrases from Babylon five, however.

"Arrogance and stupidity in the same package, how efficient of you" the immortal Londo Mollari.

"If you are falling from a cliff, you might as well try to fly" Captain Sinclair.

"I am Russian I expect the worst to happen" Captain Ivanova.

From the original series...

In the third season episode The Lights of Zetar, the Enterprise encounters some non-corporeal alien entities that travel around space at warp speed, resembling a light-storm of sorts. These entities cripple and in some cases kill Star Fleet personnel. They manage to possess Scotty's mega-hot new girlfriend, Lieutenant Mira Romaine.

At one point Kirk orders a phaser blast through the center of the light-storm. Because these beings inhabit Mira Romaine, she herself reacts to the phaser blasts. Scotty, frightened for the safety of the woman he loves, in a voice that's packed with panicked emotion, reaches out desperately to Kirk. "Captain!! The phasers!!! THEY'RE KILLING MIRA!!!!"

"Killing Lieutenant Romaine?" Kirk asks with mild interest, as if somebody had just told him there was red fauna on the planet, instead of blue.

I know, doesn't sound like much, but I just love the stark contrast between Scotty's frantic, near shreiking warning, and Kirk's bland, matter-of-fact non-reaction.

Oh god so many to choose from

The ds9 baseball episode, just the scenes with worf, when players are heckling the vulcans, he goes "death to the opposition!" and when he gets struck out on a questionable strike "that ball was half a meter outside! reverse the call reverse the call!"

In the VOY ep drone, when the doctors mobile emitter is fused with seven of nines's nanoprobes and creates a 29th century borg. Just the whole episode involving "One" because he harbors nothing malicious at all, he is much like a child and innocent, yet has the potential to pretty much destroy everyone

Episode of TNG when Picard is on the family farm in "family" and he ends up having a fight with his brother, after that they are laughing, then he finally breaks down about his experience with the borg
""They took everything I was! They used me to kill ... and to destroy. And I couldn't stop them! I should've been able to stop them. I tried so hard!"
Then his brother responds "So my brother is a human being after all. This will be with you a long time, Jean-Luc. A long time."

The end of "The Trouble With Tribbles", where Kirk demands to know what the crew did with the tribbles. And Scotty finally reveals:

"I sent them to the Klingons......where they'll be no tribble there."

Far too many "moments" to pick one favorite as I have been a fan since the original series first aired as a weekly show......

I have read the books and attended conventions and have quite a collection of autographs and memorabilia....

My favorite "piece" is an original painting done by a new artist at the time I purchased it for $125.... Her name is Sonia Hillios.... She has since become widely know for her Sci-fi artwork and makes $$$$$ for her creations now...

I estimate the value of the painting I have at about $4000-$5000 at today's rates.....

ahh star trek owns as for favorite moments

in the first part of Best Of Both Worlds when Picard turns around and says " Mr Worf , contact starfleet tell them ... we have engaged the borg "

also at the end of that episode when Picard gives that speech and the camera pans in and Riker simply says " Mr Worf ... Fire "

honestly tho that whole two parter was my favorite from that series

as for DS9 ... the fight scene in the episode Way Of The Warrior .... with out a doubt the most epic fight scene in star trek history ..it wasnt just a phaser fight they actually had hand to hand combat and the way they did it was just amazing

as for star trek movies ... First Contact the best one

The look on Harry Mudd's face when Kirk leaves him marooned on a planet with 500 android copies of Stella, his shrew of a wife, is priceless. 😀

Star Trek VI - Christopher Plummer's Shakespeare hamminess deserves an honourable mention here metinks.

DS9 - Any scene with Quark and Odo. In particular, when Odo and Quark are trapped in Odo's office as the Station is coming close to being blown up with a countdown slowly ticking down. Odo is confused why the Cardassians used an extra security lock on his office until Quark points out that he was the only decent and honourable man onboard while they were in control of the station. Quark then completely ruins the potentionally comradelly moment by pointing out that they were now going to die because of Odo's decency.

Garrick (Garrack?) definetly gets a mention. His character and actor were superbly done.

Also, any scene with Q :bouncybou

But the opposite side of the spectrum, the most disturbing moment of the Star Trek series is when Quark and Rom's mother strips off in order to make Rom feel more comfortable per Ferengi tradition. I've seen some disturbing crap in my time, but that ranks quite highly on the list...

The immortal line from McCoy:

I am a doctor not a bricklayer. From The Devil In The Dark

Another one comes to mind

In the DS9 ep when they travel back in time to the trouble with tribbles ep, the fed time police are investigating and ask "Is that everything?" Sisko then details how he met kirk and got him to sign off on a PADD, the more lenient cop pretty much goes "I think we can close the book on this, i'd prob do the same thing myself"

Also in that ep, the only time in the trek uni they discuss the klingon issue. In TOS, they didnt have the big facial ridges, to which worf then states "We do not discuss such things with outsiders"

ha ha ha

I would have to say that these are my favorites :upsidedow

here's mine in no particular order

The last few moments of STTMP; the refit Enterprise going to warp after that lovely undershot,

The tribbles falling on Kirk in TOS

The theft of the Enterprise from the third film.

Most things involving Data, funny guy. Like "oh shit!"

The raport between Crusher and Pickard on numerous occasions, and the same between Janeway and Tuvok.

The end of Star Trek III.

Scotty's comment on "Humpacked? People?"

The whole of Star Trek five...

No, actually, the whole of Star Trek, all of them, each of them, particularly the moments of hope and triumph with the great music.

Oh, and

"You have the bridge... Mr Troy!"

Here's another favorite of mine.

The original series, season two. The episode called "I Mudd."

The Enterprise finds Harry Mudd on a planet populated only with androids; artificial life forms. They allowed Harry to design hundreds of beautiful and sexy android women who no doubt are completely uninhibited.

These androids hold Kirk and the Enterprise crew as prisoners, they want to study non-artifical humanoid life. To escape, Kirk and Spock decide to use illogic to confound them, which of course they can't handle.

There's a hilarious scene in which Spock is sitting between two smoking hot identical brunettes.

Turning toward the one on his left, he says in his emotionless Spock voice, "I love you," then turning toward the other one he says, "However, I hate you."

"But I am in every way identical to Alice 27," she objects.

"That is precisely why I hate you," Spock replies.

Both girls look momentarily befuddled, then lose consciousness.

"Fascinating," Spock remarks.

Hey Cosmo, just so you know, the fused Tuvok/Neelix character was called Tuvix and he was actually played by a third actor! True story, he wasn't either actor.

Deep Space Nine was my favorite show! Jadzia Dax was a total babe and smart too. Captain Sisko is the coolest. The whole relationship between O'Brien and Bashir was fun to watch develope over time. Gul Dukat is a very well developed villain. Garrack is an awesome supporting character. I can go on and on but I think I made my point.

My own personal favorite moment is right here (from "Way of the warrior":

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/LTA_7D_VcyE&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/LTA_7D_VcyE&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

It makes me laugh every time!

Really? Goddamn it! I did think that he looked differet but assumed it was simply asthetics and stuff. Damnit, well, anyway, they should have made that guy a full time actor in the show. Am i the only one who thought he did a great job, cause i thought it was great.

I tottally agree. Evry charactor you meantioned was awesome, and here is another one of my favourite scenes with both Garak and Sisko in it.
It's the one where Sisko manages to get the Romulans to join the war against the dominon, and one of my favourite episodes of the series.

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/sbs5259DIlE&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/sbs5259DIlE&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

Let's see, where to start... Being such a scifi nerd, there are a lot of them for me, but here's a few: Star Trek III - Sulu: "The word, Admiral?" Kirk: "The word is no. I am therefore going anyway." ST:TNG "The Naked Now" - Yar to Data: "Data, I'm only going to tell you justonce: It never happened." "Deja Q" - Q: "I'm immortal again, omnipotent again!" Riker: "Swell." ST: DS9 "Empok Nor" - Garak: "Access denied, access denied, don't you know how to say anything else?" I can't recall the episode, but to Garak: "You shot him in the back!" Garak: "It's the safest way, isn't it?"

And that clip just proves my major belief regarding Star Trek. Sisko is the best Officer ever.
