I've posted this question before. But, it's been a while. So, I thought I;d post it again and see who responds, what might be new, etc.

For thsoe who like to be crafty and creative, what sorts of "crafts" are you into? It doesn't need to be limitted to actual crafts. Other hobbies are cool as well.

For me...I enjoy a variety of stuff, though I can't do some of the things as often as I'd like. When my body and time are both cooperating, I enjoy...

woodburning
carving
wookworking
scrollsawing
statue restoration
crochet
beadwork
gardening
writing
cooking
baking

Crocheting/knitting/embroidery. Singing/Playing Acoustic Guitar. Speaking/Reading French. Traveling. Oh, and I have a rather large elephant collection (ask some of the folks who saw a fraction of it recently...)!

I like collecting Plungers and giving them away as gifts... But when you wrap a plunger as a gift, people basically know what it is by just looking at the shape of the plunger through the gift wrapping. So this is pretty much a shitty surprise gift!

I like to work with stained glass. Now that I've got a garage, I can build a workbench and get started up, again! 😀

Some cool responses, folks! Here's another question...

What hobbies/crafts are you in the midst of projects on right now?

For me,in addition to my veggie gardens out back, I've just started totally reworking my front gardens. We got infested by carpenter ants and had to rip them completely apart, killing off the pests, salvaging the plants and bulbs that haven't been damaged and redoing things. It's probably good that we're getting all this rain. It's helping work in the instecticide.

Since I'm ripping things up anyway, I'm eliminating the center garden and expanding the back one. I'm eliminating all wood based material...mulch, timbers, etc....in hopes of avoiding future infestations. I'll have stone edging and marble chips in the new garden. I've attached a pic of the design I did up last night in case anyone is interested.

Wow, Ann! Nice! I tend to have a "black thumb" when it comes to plants and since I have allergies, I'm not a gardener. But that looks awesome!

Ongoing projects, well, in September the Sweet Adeline chorus that I sing with is recording our first CD 🙂

At the moment I am completing a huge model of a Squarerigger, (sailing ship) for a local maritime festival, and preparing the research for an exhibit for the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Navy, for next summer.

As well, I am completing one book for publication, reseraching for another and making notes for two more.

Tending to my bonsai trees and reading.

What kind of Music Des?

I can garden, cook, and read fairly well. I also enjoy writing, though I consider that more bane than happy fun time.

I forgot to include martial arts in my list

AFA martial arts, I am in the midst of working towards my 1st degree black belt. I plan to get that in Sept 2010. Right now, I am a red belt where I expect to make brown belt this comng September.

Since I am out of work now, I have a little more time on my hands, so therefore, I have a few projects on my to do list

a) I reframed a cut away used for books, trophies etc... in my sons room and I plan to repaint his room while he is away at camp.

b) Paint my daughters room

c) Redesign a section in my back yard by framing 6 X 6 railroad ties in a corner where there is too much shade so there is no grass growth. It will be multi level where each level is gilled with stones. I want to make a sitting area with a couple of benches I have already and move my grill to that area as well and after it's completed, I would like to buy a fire pit to put in the middle. In short, it's an attempt to make the back yard a little more functional as well as improve the appearence.

d) Finally, I plan to replace my fence along the perimeter. The fence I have now is old and decrepid. I also plan to move my fence on the side, so it goes along the property line. When I bought my house, the previous owner made a fence haphazardly and didn't consider where the property lines were so for the last 8 years, my neighbor has had use of some of my property. I'll do everything but dig, that I will farm out to day laborers for ~$10/hour

Those are my main projects I'd like to get done. As this thread continues to grow, I am sure I will think of more things that need to be done. 🙂

Sounds like a lot of work, Dave. I guess it will keep you out of trouble! 😉

I spent the day yesterday clearing the new area that isn't already garden. I'd hoped to continue today. But, the air is entirely too bad to work outside today. My lungs are still screaming at me after going out for all of half an hour earlier to clean up my veggie garden a bit. So, it's inside for the rest of the day.

That brings me to the one thing I left off the list... SITE WORK! It's become so automatic that I didn't even think to list it. lol I'll be doing more today.

Juggling. This encompasses a wide range of motor skills, such as (the obvious) ball and club juggling, as well as more esoteric skills like crystal orb manipulation, fire performance (firebreathing, poi, staff, meteor, devilsticks), tightrope walking, stiltwalking and unicycling.
I've been doing stuff of this ilk for the past 4 years or so, though of late I haven't gotten much practice.

Music. It's been a big part of my life since I was very small. I've been playing Piano from the age of 5 onwards, and Guitar from the age of 10 or 11. I sung in a number of choirs during my teenage years.
Around age 15 I became interested learning how to generate sounds using electronics, and I drew my attention towards synthesisers and electronic music. A friend of mine got me a hacked copy of a software program named FruityLoops, and I began writing obscure (and somewhat shit) electronic music. I upgraded a lot of my software based stuff when I was 18, and started doing laptop DJ sets.
I collect obscure music pressed to vinyl, and when I was 20, I got some turntables and a mixer. Since then, I've been increasing my vinyl collection rapidly, and began DJing at houseparties and nightclubs around the UK.

Attatched: An mp3 of a trance track that I wrote when I was 16. I think it was one of the better ones I composed.
