Hockey Season!!!

your killing me
That wasn't the intent!!! :jester: Did anyone see the Devils win their 5th straight? Brodeur with his third shutout in 5 games. Devils 3 - Canucks 0.

Leafs are in tough with several key players injured of late 🙁 Norris trophy leader Brian McCabe (groin), Darcy Tucker (ribs) and Eric Lindros (wrist) are all out with prolonged injuries :cry1: Tough 4 game road trip ahead, 2 games back to back IN Ottawa... damn you schedule maker!! 😛 :sowrong:

The Devils beat the Blackhawks in a shootout on Sunday 3-2. That makes 6 straight for the resurgent New Jersey Devils. Tonight they are in St.Louis to take on the Blues. If the Devils win tonight in St Louis the Devils will go to Nashville on Thursday to play the Predators with a seven game winning streak. Go Devils :rotate: :firedevil :xpulcy:

It was only a matter of time before NJ got back in the thick of things... seven in a row now! :wow: Good for them 😀 Meanwhile, Leafs better right the ship, the schedule is scary with all these injuries 🙁

Absolutely right!!! Make it seven in a row for the New Jersey Devils. After Nashville tomorrow night in Nashville the Devils finish the month playing the Islanders at home, then the Rangers in MSG. They will then travel to Long Island to play the Islanders again and finish the road trip and 7 of 8 on the road by going to Tampa Bay to take on the Lightening and finish the trip with a game against the Panthers. The Devils have not lost in 2006 yet. Could they finish this month undefeated? It is a tough schedule the Devils have but not impossible. The Devils only have 6 games in February ( all really tough games ) before they get to the three week break ( which I still think is stupid ). So they have only twelve games left until they reach March. Wouldn't it be something if they went into March on a nineteen game winning streak. REALITY!!! Sorry guys I just woke up from a great dream. 😛

I was following the Rangers till they took em off MSG for the good games. Boy Marcel Hossa fizzeled out quicker than Zima. Remember that? :cry1:

.... Leafs lose 6 in a row now... I think I"m gonna barf :xlime:

The Devils have lost 3 of their last 4 games. All games were shutouts. Next up for the Devils are the Ottawa Senators on February 1st. The Devils were 10-3 in January and picked up 21 points in the month. They started the New Year in 11th place and now are in 6th place. A good month for the Devils.

Alas... the losing streak was 8 games, worst since 96 for the Laffs 🙁 Give em' credit though, they've showed some spunk in the last three games, got 4 of six points. They lost tonight in the dreaded "Shoot-out", sacrilege to any hockey purist

Right on the tails of both Tampa and the Devils now, with a showdown in Jersey on Saturday... this should be fun :bouncybou

You really aren't expecting to beat the Devils in the Meadowlands are you leaf? Though I agreed with you at the beginning of the year in regards to the shootout, I have seen some great shootout with the hockey package this season. They have been fun. I am still not sure an individual performance should decide whether a team should win or lose a game but it is not sacrilege either. If that is the scenerio then you should only play 60 minutes of hockey and then game over. That is a purist. No overtime or anything if it's sacrilege. Sorry Leaf most of the time I am in FULL agreement with you but not this time. My solution would be to play the game until there is a winner. Everyone say that after awhile the players get tired an then sloppy goals decide games. Oh well. Then the players will put themselves in better shape and condition so they won't get so tired. I think that is the only fair way to decide a game. In baseball you play until there is a winner. You don't play homerun derby to decide a game. In football you don't see who kicks the most field goals to decide a game and you don't see the NBA decide games on the free throw line if a game ends in a tie. Hockey should just play hockey. That to me keeps the game pure.

That's what makes playoff hockey great... they DO play until there is a winner 😉 I stand by my previous statement, lol. But you've gotta admit, this shoot-out thing is nothing but a gimmick. Look at the examples you cited, that says it all. It's like a playoff game in soccer being decided by penalty kicks... pathetic. Although soccer is altogether another game. At any rate, if I had it my way, it would be the way its always been. 60 minutes and a five minute overtime for the win or tie. Period.

Oh, and btw, we haven't lost a game to the Devils yet this season 😉

You are right... we have not beaten you yet this year ( operative word here is yet ). But you faced us twice without Patrick Elias and now the Devils are 11-3 since the calender turned to 2006. So let's see how your struggling team does against one of the HOTTEST teams in the NHL. See you Saturday night in Toronto. BTW, the Devils defeated the Ottawa Senators last night in the Meadowlands 5-3. Next up is the Carolina Hurricanes ( the President throphy leaders right now ) on Friday night when the New Jersey Devils retire Scott Stevens #4 jersey and send that off to the rafters. It's the Devils and Hurricanes Friday night on Scott Stevens night. Don't miss it!!!

Well, tonight's your night to gloat I guess, lol... the way the Leafs have been playing the last month or so :sowrong: We'll see what happens. They did the right thing in honoring Stevens, good job! 😀

So I was reading through this thread today and I realized that I ate my words... every single one of them. The Flyers are a blooper this year and I dont know how they are gonna get outta their hole. I still love them though, Ill be praying for next season.

A little hockey revival!! What a day!! Oilers retire #11 for Mark Messier, Martin Brodeur records his 12th shutout of the season (remarkable), And the trades: Bill Guerin to the Sharks, Ryan Smyth to the Islanders, and Todd Bertuzzi to my favorite team, the Red Wings.

There's alot of great hockey left to be played as teams fight for playoff positions, Then the playoffs. I might just watch this year.

P.S. F*** you bettman!!!
