I wouldn't, actually. Each of those men probably went through their own personal little 4-8 year (sometimes more than that) hell, and I wouldn't ask them to come back and redo it.
They would be out of the loop, might have to learn about decades of history in order to understand what was going on, as well as the current slang and what have you. Then they'd have to deal with all the pressure of being a good president from the past. That reads "Not fun" to me.
Calling someone back from the dead several years after their time seems awfully cruel to me. If you'd have to, pick someone who's still alive to help out, maybe.
If you said FDR you must not read or understand History. He's a TERRIBLE choice . He was n ot adept at foreign affairs, cared less about the Middle East and his mishandling of Yalta made Europe what it was during the Cold War.
Truman or Ike would be far better choices, they both understood foreign policy better and made better informed decisions. FDR understood America very well, but NOT foreign lands.
Here we go again College boy with the negative vibe. Everyone here is sharing there personal opnion and here you are with the "you dont understand history bullshit". Why not just state your opinion on whom youd like to bring back rather than insult? No one is making a distinction on foreign or domestic policy here. Most presidents had their weaknesses. So FDR made a mistake in reading Satlin and and did not take Churchill to seriously regarding the Soviets. This was all brand new at the time . So what !! How about thinking of all the things FDR did to rally this country in the 30s and 40s and the wonderful things his wife did for humanity.
The question was to deal with the Middle east Situation. FDR had no idea about Foreign Policy. I merely used Yalta as one of his biggest flubs. He misread the Japanese throughout the 30s and probably did more than any world leader to advance Japanese Expansion in Asia. He mis read Hitler and his intentions. The point is if you want someone to deal with a situation they need to be PROACTIVE and not have to have someone point out the situation is bad OR will become bad.
To be honest, none of the 19th Century Politicians would be worth a damn as they're core beliefs were to Isolate the US and no matter what you won't get a man to go against his core beliefs.
T Roosevelt, Truman or Ike are the only Presidents that I believe have the vision and the beliefs to fix it.
(I wouldn't really bring back W. I just wish he was one of the choices!)
