While in Boston earlier in the day my father and I found out that my grandfather is in a coma after undergoing surgery and that he has developed cancer in his liver, has had three heart attacks last night, and his kidneys have failed. I left my father and a cousin at Logan International and I just got back to Virginia and will meet with them in Peru at midnight, Nov. 25th (I would have gone with them but my passports were at college...I just finished a 10 hour drive).

I am in serious mourning as in all likelihood my grandfather is either dead or will be dead by the time I land in Peru. The funeral and burial will probably be held Sunday. This will be the first death of a beloved one of mine in my life time...and I love my grandfather very, very much.

Losing

Losing a loved one is never an easy thing. I really feel for you. It helps to take comfort in knowing that inpassing, all the pain, stress, and sadness goes away for them. It helps me a lot to pray, and hope and look forward to seeing them again someday.

Grandparents are SUCH a precious treasure. I'm so sorry to hear it. :sadcry: It won't make you feel any better but your granddad has probably lived a GREAT full life. He has been preparing for this moment a very long time and leaves in the presence of loved ones and that's more than a lot can hope for. XOXO
 
12:12 am

At 12:12 am last night, Nov. 24th, my grandfather passed away at the age of 84 whilst in his coma. My mother, who was at his side, says he passed away peacefully with his heart beat slowing to a dead stop in his sleep.

Today, Sunday, will be the service, cremation, and burial.

That is so sad! It's just gone 25th Nov. And I'm reading your post for the first time and it makes me want to weep. :cry1: I do hope you arrive in time to spend a little while with your grandfather... It is my prayer.

Whatever happens, dear Chaneda, may you know that you are in our hearts as you go through this painful time. I think today of the candles we lit as part of our memorial service for people we have lost...
I don't know if it helps in the moment but my b/f and I were really touched by the words of our pastor who said that we are all remembered in the mind and heart of God.

I feel bad for what you're going through and I remember how sad when my last remaining grandmother died. I was very sad and I really feel for what you're going through.
