I would give Mel another chance...he's William Wallace. I still watch Braveheart for inspiration alongside 300 and Patton. His racist tirade while sloshed has stained him badly, but he's gotten counseling and is very sorry for what he did.

But he has to do away with the Colonel Sanders 'tee. That sucks balls.

Alcohol doesn't make it more acceptable to say Bad Things, but it does make you say things that you don't necessarily mean. Mel Gibson is an excellent and highly versatile actor, as well as an energetic, imaginative, and visionary director. With all of the talentless, one-dimensional pre-teen-heartthrobs out there right now, it'd take a lot more than one drunken scene to make me give up on Mel.

The goatee, however... that, just might do it 🙁

It always struck me as sort of odd that everyone jumped all over Mel Gibson for his anti-semetic tirade, (which was pretty awful, to be sure) but nobody in the media or elsewhere seemed to care that he was doing something close to 100 mph down a city street while dead drunk.

Kill whomever you wish, just don't offend them in the process.

Murderers receive more sympathy than racists, and American public school has more or less jaded everybody to the dangers of drunken driving for decades (it's something of a hobby in Ohio and Pennsylvania, at least).
